So, when doing to OS after dive kick on Fei, are you reversing the DP motion to accommodate the cross up, or are you inputting the DP normally?? Also, that is heavy dive kick, current?
I used to get confused about the input for DPs after crossups too, but instead of worrying about the inputs, just do a half circle back after you cross up. I saw a video that Xian made where he said to do that and it works for me every time. Just hold up forward when you are jumping and do a half circle back kick when you cross up. Works every time. Also, it does look like a heavy dive kick to me.
Check the description on YouTube. It’s MK Dive.
As for the cross-up messing with the Senkyutai input, there are a couple of ways to do it.
You can do the dive, then immediately input a normal DP, wait a brief bit, then hit 2K. That will account for the side switch, though I find this one harder to do. The other way is to do the HCB. That works a lot more consistently for me, at least.
Thanks for the clarification, HAV. Also, I have a question.
Are there any useful option selects against Gief that will possibly deal with lariat or EX green hand or spd on wakeup after a knockdown? How does lk senkyutai deal with these options?
No one can safe jump Gief because EX SPD has a 2 frame startup. Outside of that, Lariat, SPD and GH have no startup invincibility so a properly timed jump will stuff them or trade.
Yeah but isn’t EX Flip throw also throw immune? I guess that’s one way of getting around it. The regular green hands should also get thrown (dunno about EX green hand), but the lariat will kill you.
Here’s a question: How do I get around a rose spiral special? A lot of the time the stuff I try gets stuffed by the crouching medium. Or am I screwed?
I’m not sure what you’re asking.
One player I fought against would revolve the entire match strategy around cr. m punch xx either L or EX soul spiral, ending with just the tip hitting. Most counters I tried ended up not working, including cr jabs and light kicks, ex teleport, ex slashes, and ex dragon kicks. Come to think of it they would also always manage to hit me in pre jump frames when I tried to neutral jump.
Umm… did you try blocking?
Of course, but like I said most of my counters were not working.
I don’t understand what blocking has to do with your “counters”.
Just block. There isn’t always some great answer in your buttons. Block. Don’t counter. Block. After you block, the situation is over. It’s not like Rose can just keep doing this over and over again.
Hate to admit this much noobishness, but yeah, that’s exactly what happened. I would be pressured with that and most things I tried to get out of it fell short on range or speed.
If Rose was just doing Drill-> Low MP xx Drill-> Low MP over and over again, then those Drills weren’t safe. Block them, then punish with Stand Short xx Mantis Slash.
Rose Drill is unsafe from close range.
Thank you, I’ll try that next time.
OK… so I haven’t been inspired at all, lately. Here’s what I want to do. Every 3-4 days or so, I’d like to do a breakdown of Yang’s options in dealing with the specific tactical threats in different match-ups. Yeah, yeah, 2012 is coming soon, but hopefully they won’t change too much.
I’m not sure which character I want to start with, so if anyone cares, give me some suggestions, then I’ll work on some shit.
Bison, Honda, Blanka, Guile, Chun, Balrog, and Akuma.
I can agree with all of those. Add Adon to the list too.
I think it would also be cool to make a thread for after a knockdown on all the cast. Like whats the best option and useful option selects.
Some cool option selects I seen from videos. People probably know about this already but I didn’t see it posted anywhere.
Opponents wake:
- Cr.lp, st.lp+lk, cr.lk into rekka. An option select throw that I use against some of the cast.
- Cr.lp, ultra 2, cr.lk into rekka. This is an option select for the ultra 2. Good against backdash and I got to work against Fei Long’s CW to escape the corner.
- Cr.lk, ultra 2. I really struggle doing this one. I practice it, but I barely use it though.
- Cr.lp, cr.lp+hk, st.lp, cr.mk into rekkas. Sometimes I’ll do a throw or ex command grab after the 2 cr.lp’s.
- Cr.lp, lk teleport, cr.lk into rekka. Pause the teleport so you a st.lk if the cr.lp is blocked. Cool against teleports.
Thought this info would be helpful. Really wanna keep these Yang forums fun and exciting.
I’m gonna wait to get started on my tactical breakdowns until after the 2012 notes are finished going up.
