Yang Everything

depends on how you mesh together, i use sa2 no matter though

Hmmm, that would be true of you yo.

I wonder. How useful is activating SA3 when hitting someone with an anti air normal such as st. jab or l. forward, forward senkyutai? Ideally, I just pressure to the corner and try and get a slash setup or a throw, then activate.

I wanna focus on midscreen ways of activating other than, sweeping, neutral throw, and flip grab(TOO risky for high level, but I do it every once in awhle, about every 30 matches or so ha).

fiend, you know when/if they’re going to release the vids from that tourney you got 2nd in? Wanna see some of the premium beasting you brought on niggas.

ehh alot of careless shit got me owned.

you can youtube my name, theres a interesting vid vs watson. there was no money involved so most of us were screwing around

Holy snaps KOFiend!11!!1

You should come to Web2Zone on Friday and teach me some Yang shit. I watched some vids of you, how do you have such consistency in your EX slashing? I mean like, whenever I do Yang’s command grab -> c.MK -> EX slashes, I never get 7 hits, and that’s cuz I’m mashing on slashes too fast, but if I do it any slower, it seems like it won’t combo.

learn Yang then.

Seriously, thats pretty basic stuff, get your butt in training mode.

Agreed. Asking a person about slash timing is like asking some to teach you how to draw. You can only learn it by practice.

Mind you, I’m still having trouble pulling off those REALLY early LK divekicks that seem to be apparent in a lot of vids. But that’s mainly 'cos of the sticks at my arcade, they’re SO loose.

On the topic of divekicks, in some vids, it looks like some players jump backwards slightly and then somehow pull a divekick. Are my eyes fooling me, or are they kara-diving? Is THAT even possible?

Super jump straight up and dive kick.

Not new SAIII thing that I used from this AE thing I watched the other day. I did this on a Q yesterday, but I’ll test further and see if it works on anyone else.

(corner)Activate, UOH, fierce slash, jab slash, cr. forward xx senkyutai, whiff senkyutai, hop kick, super ends, end with some kind of juggle(I did jab slash x 3, st. fierce).

The principle behind this is, you want to overlap the last shadow from the senkyutai to overlap the oncoming hop kick, thus creating one hell of a dangerous overhead. Just do it every once in awhile, when your mixups are on par, because I believe this can be blocked high.

Here is the vid to see it in action. Check out the last portion of the video.

Hope this helps anyone who uses SAIII.

I actually just saw that yesterday. The vids are good, but really just basic basic things. And in Japanese so yea

I sometimes have problem doing Yang’s dive kick, is it basically the same as Yun’s dive kick? because everytime i hold diagonally downforward the divekick doesn’t come out.

By the way I just started to learn Yang yesterday and he’s freakin awesom! Lol I wonder why I never tried using him earlier. Looks like Yuns gonna get shelved for a LOOONG time while I try to master Yang.

thats EXACTLY what i said…

I’ve always liked Yang better than Yun, simply because I thought his moves looked cooler and he wasn’t broken.

Quoted for emphasis. It’s fun to slap people, isn’t it?

Try letting the joystick go to neutral before you press d/f. I’ve found that, at least on the machine I play, you need to have d/f registered before you press kick.

Hrm ok I’ll try that next time I go to arcades again.

Also another question.

Is it better to use medium punch then mantis combo or is it better to use down medium kick then mantis?

And are there other simular combos that Yang has to Yun? Such as Yun’s 123 combo. Besides the mantis thing.

Also what buttons do people press before doing SAII super? I only started playing Yang yesterday so I dunno if the button people press are light punch or medium punch before doing the SAII super.

It’s better to use cr.mk x mantis slashes because it has better range and can go under high attacks.

The only other combo that Yang shares with Yun is their s.strong,s.fierce,b+fierce target combo.

I’m not exactly sure what you mean by the SAII super, because you’re supposed to use a kick button to execute it.

If you can, use st. strong xx (EX) mantis as much as you can. It does more damage than cr. forward xx (EX) mantis. However, you’ll see that it is hard to get that in, so that’s where the latter plays a big role.

Do not use Yang’s target chain, SAII too much. The target chain is pretty much only useful in SAIII combos, and SAII does shitty damage for the bar (st. strong xx EX slashes and naked EX slashes do more damage than SAII I think).

Just focus on ways to set up slash combos. That’s where the big damage comes from.

Lol I meant using kick then because I don’t even know what buttons you use yet to execute each sper since I mostly just used EX mantis or something else with Yang yesterday during my 1 day experience with using Yang.

Hrm I see, I used SAII and mostly just did the ex mantis and only actually used the SAII super once when some ken guy missed his super on me.

I’ll trying using standing mp, but if crouching medium kickis easier then I’ll just use that instead because I’m the guy who’s not to fond of missing any combos or messing up on anything.

When you say slash combos do you mean focusing mainly on hitting then mantis? If you mean that then that what I’ll do lol. Thanks to both for the tips.

Another tip u might wanna know is another 123 combo. Im pretty new to Yang myself but s. lk s. mk(forward) s. hk (roundhouse) is a flashy combo. Is this a good combo anyone, I would like to know if I shouldnt be using this combo at all?

You gotta do it fast and have to be close up next to them, i think ur safe if they block it too. After I hit them with all 3 hits, I like to use EX Mantis cause most people wont expect it the first time =).

Not such a good combo, s.lk can be parried high and low. Plus the chain isn’t very damaging. Better to cr.lk, cr.lk, EX mantis for a lot more damage, plus it’s hit confirmed off a low parry only attack.

The only thing that the short, strong, roundhouse chain combo is remotely good for, is for corner SA3 combos. Other than that, don’t use it at all.

If you have to use a target chain, use the strong, fierce, b + fierce one.
