Yang Everything

Both chains have problems, but I’d rather use the kick chain if I have momentum going. The punch chain can only be parried high, yeah, but if you even TOUCH the fierce button for the 2nd hit, you’re either going to commit to doing the b + fierce, or risk not doing the b + fierce and being completely open. You can be tricky and lag the fierce, but it’s still pretty risky…

I hope someone hasnt answered this previously but…

Can you link all of this together?
Towards + foreward/medium kick —> s. lk —> EX mantis slashes?

I believe I saw Boss do it in a video, maybe its just a link on the japanese version? Maybe only links on crouching opponents? Im pretty new to Yang btw.

only UOH can link into s.lk EXmantis. Only on crouchers I believe btw

This comes up way too often. The hop kick only links into st.short if a meaty.

UOH can link into st./cr. short, and yes it does work on standing opponents but the range you have to do it is very strict.

Illest UOH combo…meaty UOH, st.strong, link st.short x EX Mantis:smokin:

I hope this hasnt been mentioned in here before but…

What are Yang’s easist match-ups or ones that he obviously has a great advantage?
Any-tear character, I just wanna know all of em in your guy’s opinion.

Currently I use Akuma to fight Urien and Hugo and Makoto for everyone else.
Should I switch to Yang against some people, Im pretty new to Yang by the way.

Weeeeelllll…

I don’t know myself the favorable ones, but the horribly gross or bad matchups I’ve come across are Elena, Chun and Ken.

Everyone else I think it’s even or something I believe, which is kinda good, and kinda bad too.

Bad matchups seem to be Yun/Ken. I think everyone else is **relatively **even, or Yang has an advantage. Those that I think he has an advantage against = Q, Hugo, Urien, etc. Urien has a hard time because he’s almost completely unable to punish the slash strings that you can pull off. Most of his normals are too slow. The way I usually lose to Urien [Emphy mainly] is that he red-parries low forward slash. That’s an extremely good gamble for him. If he fucks up he just get’s a little damage on himself, but if he connects the parry, it’s a free launch into aegis setup, or worse for me, throw into corner and then I have to deal with the spanking room thing. It’s good practice not to abuse low forward slash against the good players; if you do it enough, they’ll try red-parrying it out of desperation, and eventually they’ll attempt to do it everytime they see a low forward [and it’s not that hard to do, actually]. Try doing low short/jab x1/x2 into slashes, it’s a lot more difficult and dangerous to try and red parry.

The big fat chars [Hugo/Q] have a very irritating time against Yang if the Yang is patient and careful. If he understands how to use seiei enbu, it’s even more gay. Haha. Hugo can 360 you throw seiei enbu strings if you’re not careful [he can actually 360 you after a blocked slash if you’re too close], but you’re able to attack him with near-impunity.

If he jumps straight up during a seiei enbu string, do NOT continue doing something on the ground. For all you know a 360 or a 720 is coming your way, which will immediately grab you out of whatever you where doing. Jump up or step back or something.

Hmmm, interesting. I always thought Yun v. Yang was even, but now I kinda understand why it can be pretty bad.

Anyone know anything about the Oro matchup? Is it like 6-4 Yang, or even? A friend of mind and myself have been arguing about this for a bit. I think it’s even though.

yang is even against everyone if you play smart and like a god with him. you must master his haircut first.

Ken has a gross advantage over Yang. That’s not even at all.

Truth in ways most people don’t understand. Sometimes I just walk away from the stick when fighting him…

Actually, it’s like 6-4, 7-3 at worst.

I’ll ask this question. Are there any stick tricks to help with the c.lp x2 or x3 into EX mantis. Its seems that sometimes, even thought it feels like I am timing it correctly, it still gets blocked. I dont seem to have this problem with c.lk x2.

When I do cr. lp x2/3 or cr. lk x 2, whenever I do the last punch/kick, I do it as df + punch/kick, then just go to towards and do the punches and such.

This way, I guess you could call it sort of a buffer I guess?

I’d say the Ken is more 7-3 from the Kens I play around here.

Anyone mind giving me tips/setups when facing characters with real anti-air. whats the best way to keep pressure without getting my face dped.

Do you know what kind of anti airs are giving you trouble specifically? Like normals or special moves and such?

In the abscence of MOD at this exact moment, I’m gonna ask about Shoryukens. Every single time I try and HK divekick cross-up on wakeup, I’m getting swatted away. I don’t understand how the pros can do it, it’s like, something that anyone can see coming, but, they somehow don’t…

well technically if you time the cross up correctly you should come in behind the hit box of shoryus. I meant bascially whats a great way to make characters with shoryu throw their their anti air at a bad time. I mean throwing lk dive just outside range is good, and so is whiffing pokes on wake up. Its just at certain times, I am getting EX dped by characters when thay are waking up, which means I lose my momentum and corner position. I can understand that yeah its gonna happen occassionaly. But how can I try make them throw the shoryus and miss so they wont want to throw them out again.

A really good way to get people to whiff AA’s at you when you are diveing is to mix it up with short dives, or jumping straight up so you might have enough time to punish.

In order to avoid anti-airs, you either have to parry or trick them.

parry them or use super jump, medium kick xx f/d + medium kick…some anti air are canceled with the medium kick and you can do a ex mantis and stun a lot…
