Yang Everything

It really is all about knowing what you can slash punish with and what you can’t. To make a list for that would be VERY long. And doubt anyone would really memorize it, but maybe be surprised by isomethings. You could also look at frame data and do it that way, probably alot easier.

Oh, and about whiffing shit on wakeup. Ehh, I do it but go Youtube and watch anything Roshihikari, nigga does it alot, and still gets away with it for the most part.

runs back to Marvel

lol by random i mean not comboed

i just dont do it that much i suppose i could try it out

Does anyone have any experience on Yang vs. Remy?

I need some advice on it, because I’m really not too familiar with it.

don t chase him if you get slapped around. if you do, parry kobo kick/flash kick/cro. hp/jumping hp. 2 hit air thing is useful.

Hey fellow Yang players. >_>

Does anyone use the close MP->lk->EX Slashes combo? It sounds useful but it also seems like a giant pain in the ass to do, because it’s a link and not a cancel (the MP->LK, that is). Like, in training mode, I can do the MP->LK sometimes, but there’s no way I can suddenly start EX slashing after that. =/

And speaking of my EX Slashes, it seems like a lot of the time when I do them I keep missing a slash. I guess it’s cuz I’m mashing on them too much, but if I don’t mash on them, I feel like I’m gonna go too slow and mess them up.

Oh, and someone was talking about how EX slashes are safe on block or something, I think you can do up to the 4th slash and it’ll still be safe. :wgrin:

Good shit, appreciate it.

I use the mp, lk chain in mixups myself. If it does hit I’ll do the EX Slashes. If you are having problems, first practice st. lk xx ex bitch slaps. Then put it together. Just take your time with the slashes, and remember that once you hit the two buttons to activate the ex, you can use one button after that. And slow em down a bit, it’ll all combo pretty much.

As far as how safe they are, I either do 1, 2, or 4 myself, just keep em guessing, and hope they don’t have good reaction time I guess.

I hope that helps.

That link is safe as hell to.

Ok, a while later, I have the link down, my problem is cancelling LK into the EX slashes. I do this in training mode, and sometimes the CPU blocks it, meaning that I did it wrong and it didn’t combo. Anyone know what I’m doing wrong?

Concentrate on doing the qcf motion all the way through, and make sure that you don’t piano the buttons and all.

I had my first “real” win with Yang today, against one of the more skilled Ryu players at my arcade. And I didn’t have the advantage of using an unknown character, either, he even consistently parried my delayed slashes. It was somewhat even towards the middle of the final round but I caught him out and scored F+MK over a whiffed crouching LK, linked(?) into EX Tourou.

Enough of the life story though (I just wanted to gloat), I’m not sure if it’s a true link, maybe he just forgot to block. Can it link?

I doubt it linked, I’ve never seen that before. I know you can link UOH -> LK -> EX slashes at the right distance.

You can link hopkick -> s. short -> ex on someone waking up.

Hop kick must be meaty to link a st. short after it. Don’t know if you can connect ex slashes after a meaty hop kick (I doubt it), but meaty hop kick -> st. short x ex slashes works. IIRC, Boss did this against J during the SBO2 Finals.

Rom I think you meant to say meaty, haha.

it was izu, sbo1, round 1, izu dooesn t block the LK

Yeah, I meant a meaty hopkick on wakeup, eheh.

Changing subject, and I guess it’s probably been discussed before, but I couldn’t find much, how does Yang shape up against Yun?

This is not a question of who’s better. Rather, I’m asking for advice on what I should do against Yun in general, and how the matchup fares on both sides of the coin. I still don’t know much about playing Yang overall, and I know less about fighting Yun since there aren’t any Yun players in my locality.

5 - 5, maybe 4.5 - 5.5/4 - 6

I think there is some stuff about strats against Yun in this thread actually, I think it’s about like 5-6 pages back. I think kofiend and some other guy were arguing about it or something.

kofiend is right though. It’s about even pretty much.

edit The vs. Yun stuff is on page 10.

hmm, build a mini layer with the opponent on not jumping when he has 50% + meter. counter + combo = 100%
yang’s fierce beats crouching mp without strict timing.

hmm, stay on him, but get it done safe.
if he cancels anything other then some kinda hp into uoh, you can trade the uoh with a normal.
punish patterns with slashes.
you can crouch lk him 3 times.
you can crouch medium move into command or 2 crouch lk.
you can make them block up to 2 jabs, slightly move back and catch whiffs with lk.
you can close fierce neutral jumping yuns.

hmm, o yeh, for whiff lk dive kicks/shin hitting lk divekicks(usually towards the end of match), jump back hp is pretty solid.

just remember to mix up and stay ahead

Would it be better to use SA3 or SA2 against him, or would it just have to depend on the playstyle of the Yun?
