…sorry to be a dick, but all of that is painfully obvious as that’s been the problem with PC gaming for over 20 years. The underlying problem is Microsoft’s decision to allow players to play without the physical media. If they’d just make having a physical copy necessary this would be much less of a problem.
Sony is already in a delicate spot and since there stock went up, you know they’re pretty much gonna do the opposite of what Microsoft is doing. Hell look at the PS4 conference. Less social media fluff and we got to see games showcased. Only downside was we didn’t get to see the actual system.
But hasn’t pc been putting up with the whole anti-preowned bs with CD keys for years now?
I was under the impression that’s why we don’t see pre-owned PC games at Game and the like anymore. (Correct me if I’m wrong here)
I mean I’m not saying that makes what M$ is doing with the Xbox Done right or anything, but jumping from one thing thats started doing something shitty to another that’s been doing it for even longer sounds a little weird.
On a separate note (not quoting you here), I don’t get why people are using not needing to use a disk as an excuse for this here, I mean I’m pretty sure getting off our asses to change a disk every so often is a lot less of a pain in the ass than having your game’s resale values oblitterated, having to faff around with accounts when taking a game to a mates house, being screwed if your tournament or casual meetup venue doesn’t have the internet and having to pay for any game you buy pre-owned twice.
I was reading about how the Xbox One is going to work. First you need to input a code when you first put the game disc in the Xbox One so it can tie it to your single live account. Now here how Microsoft will fuck gamers up. According to Gametrailer report…
"The kicker here is that if you want to play that game disc on your friend’s Xbox One, a fee will be required. That fee will cost you the same price of the game itself. “Think of it like a new game,” says Phil Harrison. “The bits that are on that disc, you can give it to your friend and they can install it on an Xbox One. They would then have to purchase the right to play that game through Xbox Live.”
Thought both reveals were rather shitty. So far there’s nothing about Xbox One in & of itself that makes me want one.
However, I felt as though MS had at least aired most of its dirty laundry about the console here. I still don’t believe all the sunshine & rainbows Sony is spinning for the PS4, & am just waiting for the other shoe to drop.
