I really dont give a fuck what everyone does. Its up to them…thats just how I do it. I like to demo shit. I dont hate on people that pirate shit though.
It would be interesting to see how much game sales would rise if for whatever reason a pirated copy could not become available for a certain number of months. Say 6 months. I have a feeling that sales wouldn’t rise as much as some people may expect.
A big problem for me is that a lot of games are boring to play and are uninspired pieces of work.
I don’t need to buy certain games if my friends already have them, I merely borrowed it from a friend who had imported it. Not my fault you assume otherwise.
Very much this. I remember those PS Underground and Jampack demos that came in the mail for me. That was the shit. They made me want to buy Tomba, Sled Storm, Ape Escape, CTR, etc. Now I gotta play roulette with my money and hope for the best that I was right.
Inb4 anti-pirated games people get called white knights for game devs. Also I actually still have some of those PlayStation underground discs. I remember one of them has a Japanese game on it that when you were done you had to restart the console because it wasn’t meant for American consoles.
I also think it would help if devs gave worthwhile demos. Instead of 3 minutes of a random level. 90% of the demos I downloaded this generation didn’t give me enough playtime to decide if I wanted to buy it. I had to wait till after launch to see full gameplay videos, or possibly play it at a friends house for a bit. So I can see why people pirate games and then decide to buy them later if they feel its worth it
Ya;ll fakin on the Pirate tip. Ya’ll actin like 90% of the games out there now don’t come out with a playable demo. I used to be a HUGE pirate with other things and slowly but surely have gone legit, so I see everything clearly like a 20" Zennith.
Pirating video games has little to nothing to do with demoing, and everything to do with feeling the price is too high with a flooded marketplace. Its not about trying to cheat developers, its not about being cheap either. Honestly, sales lost to pirating for all but the biggest titles are negligible as most people who bootleg a game don’t even really play them and wouldn’t have bought them legit if they had to, or har har har would buy them second hand at a reduced $20 at best. So by no means am I trying to ‘call anyone out’ for pirating.
However, lets not try and make it sound heroic or legit. We aren’t talking an operating system that cost $150+ and can’t be had at ‘cheap’ prices until it’s no longer supported. We aren’t talking an Office suite that goes up in price every year despite building upon previously paid development. We aren’t talking software that starts at $300 to do something that alot of free software can do. We are talking video games were sans DLC, the highest out the box cost is $60 bones. Where you can simply be patient for a month and grab it a@ $40. And if it aint a hit, by 8 weeks in you can usually cut that to $30 and maybe less with some searching. The only legit reason to pirate a video game is inaccessibility - like Region Locked material.
:bluu:
Gamestop Edit - Damn Injustice God Amongst Us is going for $10 today. That’s my point.
You know if you don’t really like the idea of this whole Xbox One console [who does honestly?], then you could just not buy it. There’s no one pointing a gun to your head forcing you to do so
Oh, I don’t plan on it. But you don’t get to tell people what they can or can’t complain about. How are companies supposed to know what does or doesn’t work, without input or criticism?
Did I say you can’t complain about it? No I didn’t. If you really want those companies to get the message, you vote with your wallets. Nothing speaks louder to them than their stocks dropping and them losing money
Not my fault developers think they sell gold when all they are selling is copper.
and seeing as to how publishers think they are the most entitled people on the planet, and seeing as to how games are going to be locked to a profile, effectively forcing you to play russian roluette, because all reviews are absolute trash.
yeah, I ain’t paying 60 bucks for what can be mediocre shit.
