oooh this is making me feel good. I might have to crack open one of my joysticks and buy another controller. I figured I’d buy one MC Brand joystick, and build another.
Yeah I have a TE2 on the way but won’t be here until Monday, but if there is a pinout of this or if @kleners installs one by tonight or tomorrow, I think I’m going to go get me a controller and wire up one of my sticks, just so I can have 2 of them
Probably, but we won’t really know yet and I’m sure TOs will have different opinions. Although we know that some new gen sticks will have wires (MadcatzTE2), who knows what the future holds for our gaming technology. We’re eventually going to have everything wireless anyways but I just don’t see it this gen.
At the moment the only controller that comes with a wire on the Xbox1 is the TE2. So will that make the TE2 the only ‘legal’ controller in a tournament (or a stick that uses the same pcb)? There aren’t even any wired pads.
Or can the official controllers be used like wired pads with a USB cable plugged in?
Duckie did a mod to make the Six Axis/ Dual Shock 3 legal.
It involves removing the internal battery, disabling the internal bluetooth radio and relying on USB
And Last I checked Mr Wizard approved the mods for Evo as they were no longer wireless.
I wonder if the same thing can be applied to the PS4 Dual Shocks?
It does not work that way with the Xbox 360 pads (only the PS3) so I do not want to jump to that conclusion with the Xbone and USB till we have more information.
And due to past experience I will not trust the word of Microsoft on this issue. There customer support only do things say things to “make you happy” in the quickies way possible not revile information on their products. Customer service reps are already lying to consumers about Xbox 360 controllers working on the Xbone.
That is not a fact until its proven true, right now that is not a fact. That is just a Official Statement from Microsoft.
As I said again I don’t completely trust Microsoft on this. MS is known to mislead consumers before, tell people what they want to hear not what the need to hear.
Until someone goes in there, physically disables the wireless inside and work on just USB (and proves MS statement) I am going to be skeptical.
Even so this will not make the Xbone game pad legal under the current EVO tournament rules. As all I need to do is accidentally hit the Guide button after my match to mess up the next match.
Update for those wondering. With the XBONE Controller plugged into the PC “NO BATTERY ATTACHED” I am able to detect inputs through PC probing. Nothing guaranteed yet on the Xbox since we don’t have one.
So Here is what I have.
4way and 6 buttons common ground and wired in.
The trigger buttons are magnetic switches “like old Dreamcast” so far not messing with them.
USB connected no battery makes Controller work on PC.
We do not know if battery is REQUIRED to work on XboxOne
We do not know if Sync button is required using USB (shouldnt be needed But we will see tonight)
We do not know if the Infred LEDS are required to be seen by the Kinect (even the TE2 has them) I may make a plexi window for mine tonight.
I cannot find a Security CHIP! Take that for what it is worth. Software encryption or keys may be at work.
The Top board contains the USB connector and LEDs, IR, Charging, Bottom board contains CHIP. So if we DON’T NEED the IR LEDs I think we can do away with one of the boards.
Ill report back tomorrow!!
