Xbox One PadHack Thread - Calling the goons "Toodles, Gummowned, Phreak and You" Do it for the Kids

As far as the micro USB that goes to XB1 pad, which kind is it? Can I get it on monoprice (can someone provide a link to one)? Thanks.

I double checked and I agree, neither neutrik or Switchcraft makes a Panel mounted Micro USB connector.
Both companies make a much larger USB A/B connector, the B side takes what some people would consider USB printer cables.

There is a Micro USB connector on the market, but I donā€™t recommend Micro USB, as they are not as sturdy as USB B

Both the Switchcraft and Neutrik makes Panel Mount USB A/B connectors.
By default the Netrik version is facing the ā€œwrong wayā€, but the center can be switch around by removing 2 screws.

do you leave the battery things on?? sorry donā€™t know the name

also do you need resistors for the data lines? i saw something about that in an earlier post but Iā€™m still not sure. Planning on using two USB cables

Are you not using the default micro usb jack on the controller? if you are then it would get power.
Since its common ground you can solder all your ground cables to the same ground point on the pad if you want. Post pics, we might see something you missed.
PS: Thanks for the shoutout  I also loved KI but after missing dp on the pad too many times I stopped playing and went to work on this padhack lol

Any micro USB 2.0 should do the trick. Heres the page on mono http://www.monoprice.com/Category?c_id=103&cp_id=10303&cs_id=1030307
Just make sure its long enough for what you need to do. You donā€™t want to go shorter than 6ft (ones in madcatz sticks are 8ft and the one in the xbone charge kit are 9ft). I got $2 6ft white ones from my local toys r us (theyā€™re getting rid of the stock)

Up to you, leaving them on wonā€™t harm anything as long as they donā€™t touch any wires etc. You can de-solder them to remove them or cut them down as close to the pcb as you can if you prefer.

If you plan on using 2 USB cables then you shouldnā€™t be connecting anything to the data lines. Those are just for people who want to use 1 usb cable but dual mod their stick. You donā€™t need resistors if your using a usb cable plugged into the xbone pad cause it takes care of the resistor part (hence why using 2 usb cables is easier)

ohh ok well I guess I should just ask thenā€¦

how should everything be wired for power??

I would assume I wired the xbone VCC to the VCC point on the madcatz board and ground xbone to the madcatz ground point??
and then just plug into the xbox one via micro usb cord?

and am i screwed here?? i plugged it in to make sure everything was still working and the only button not working was the start button. Pretty sure I scraped of the trace and I think this can be fixed with solder(i hope :/)

Oh yeah there is still alot of hope for you; just scrape that trace which is coming the button you want to wire (in your case the start button). Worst case senario, you can wire your missing button to the pin where the two seperate pcbs come together. Dont feel bad I burned out my A, X and Y trace and I have to wire them to pins tomorrow. lol

Do we have a soldering/modding beginners thread.

There should be two bullets in that thread if we have one.

  • Fuck Radioshack wire with a rusty nail

  • If the pad has header pins use them.(so much easier)

Can we see a pic of your header solder?

Okay just found this glorious thread while at the office doing a quick search for Xbox One arcade sticks. I donā€™t have a ton of time on my hands, but Iā€™m willing to buy an extra stick (have a Qanba and a Tri modded TV already). I donā€™t want to lose any of my current sticks in getting one for the X1, but Iā€™ll buy a stick, and what else Iā€™d needā€¦how much to have it done by one of you fine gents for me.

Also what do I need (stick, pad, Ummm?)

Thanks, hope this doesnā€™t sound lazyā€¦now back to work for me lol

Kei

I donā€™t even have this pad yet. I wont be getting it until a game I want to play comes out on the xbone.

Unless you are buying an empty or broken stick, the cost after will come up to almost a KI stick. Just to let you know

Even if you buy an empty stick you are going to come close to it. The only way you are saving money is if you already the tools and and are putting it next to a pad in a current stick.

Examples for a newstick.

  • empty case 20-100
  • stick and buttons -45
  • soldering iron -15
  • wire 3-9
  • solder 7
  • pad 60

That is about 150 (not counting shipping) if you can buy a cheap 20 dollar tvc case or something. Much more if you are buying custom.

Example if dual modding

  • pad 60
  • imp/dpdt 1-10
  • soldering iron 15
  • solder 7
  • wire 3-9

Only about 65 or 66if you plan to use to use 2 cables or dpdt and have the supplies already. Closer to 100 if you donā€™t have the supplies.

Iā€™m aware that it will cost about the same as the KI stick does, but I canā€™t get a KI stick untilttheyā€™re actually in stock. If this gets me one real quick likeā€¦Iā€™m fine with that. Iā€™ll pay for the SC5 stick ($95 or so) and a pad (have two donā€™t wanna be left with one).

If the price comes out the same as a KI stick, at least one is in stock for me to buy. :frowning:

Unless someone has a lead on a stick I can buy right now. I canā€™t play KI in pad to save my life, and I really really really wanna play my game.

Kei

Iā€™m not doing this because I need to save money, I doing this because I donā€™t have any other way right now.

I understand. Just trying to make sure you arenā€™t paying a ton for a game specific fightstick. Im sure somebody here can help you out

Smart man.

I PMā€™d Gummo about an hour ago to see if heā€™s got time to mod a stick for me. If I donā€™t hear from him in the next day or soā€¦anyone else here open for business?

Kei

Thanks, butā€¦lmao Iā€™ve paid far far FAR more for a game specific thing. Just for MvC3 on my Xb360 (incl. Ultimate) Iā€™ve spent the followingā€¦

Madcatz TE ver. II
Cthulu board
Qanba Q4
Sanwa buttons for Hori VF5 stick (for a brother/random company)
Playstation 3 & copy of UMvC3

Thatā€™s all I can remember, but yea thatā€™s about $640 just to play marvel lol. For Godā€™s sake, I bought a PS3 from a friend for the SOLE purpose of training for events that donā€™t use the 360 cuz I hated finding out the difference between the two once I sat down at a local tournament and gtgs.

I tend to play my fighting games for a very very long time so Iā€™ll get my monies worth out of it. (or sell it if I hate it lol)

That doesnā€™t count racing simulationsā€¦

Anyone find it kinda funny that Markman said there wouldnā€™t be a common ground XO pad for a long time? *no disrespect to MM
