Xbox One PadHack Thread - Calling the goons "Toodles, Gummowned, Phreak and You" Do it for the Kids

Yup, Gummo mentioned it after the whole wireless internet incident

cool thx

With the help of this thread Im hoping I can do this soon, but I really hope I can find a used controller somewhere

Gonna attempt to do this myself. What would be the easiest way to add the Xbox One pad to my ps360 pcb stick? I don’t mind using 2 usb cables if it makes it easier.

Wire up the pad per above guide. You’ll also want to have a wire to the pad’s VCC.
Connect all the wires to the appropriate terminals on the PS360+ including VCC and Ground.
Feed a separate USB cable from the xbone pad and your good.

@ChaoticMonk Im gonna do this but with the Qanba Q4 pcb. Will the VCC run to VCC on the Q4 pcb? I understand the signal and ground wire of the buttons and am gonna power through a seperate USB. Im just a little confused on the VCC portion

all PCBs need to have power
even if you run separate cables

@Vicko. So running the VCCs and ground together keeps both boards powered even if only one is in use ? Sorry for so many q’s but Im trying to understand it. I read the slagcoin site and was still a little confused.

So could this be the reason why I plug the stick in the xbone controller lights up, but I have no inputs?

Yup. VCC = 5v = Power. It’ll go from console, down the usb to the plugged in board then to the 2nd board via the VCC connection you’ll be making.
Both boards get power this way but only the one plugged in gets data so you don’t have to worry about the other one activating.
If you didn’t give both power then the one thats not plugged will have ghost inputs (presses random buttons) do to the way they work.

Ok. I understand now. Thank you and @Vicko for clearing that up for me.

Makes sense since power is getting there (lights up) but data isn’t (inputs)

@ChaoticMonk
Beautiful Write up

Because you are wiring signals together on both pads. Both microchips need to be powered(5v). Otherwise the controller that is not plugged in will interfere with the board that is plugged in and instead of the signals being held high(not pressed) they will be held low resulting in all buttons being pressed on the other pad you have plugged in.

So in other words having both boards powered at the same time has nothing to do with playing the systems at the same time but just powering the microchips so that the PCB Runs the signals as intended.

At least this is what I believe.

I like to add to this.

Having Both boards having power, the board which has the data connection is in charge, as in in controll.
The board without a data connection is “in idle” or “standby mode” if you will.

Like what Sikwidt said, if only one board has power, the other board will pick up on the current and send interfering signals.
By powering both boards, one board is working while the other in standby so you your stick functions like it supposed too.

So basically

wire all the buttons and directions as well as the Vcc and Ground on the xbox one bad…
screw down the end of those wires to the corresponding ones in the terminals of the ps360 pcb… along with the wires that go to the buttons
and joystick…

then hook up a seperate usb cable from the xbox one pad to my console to get it to play…

Also… whats the easiest way to solder onto the bottom areas such as for the bumpers, VCC, and Ground? use my soldering iron to remove the
spikes and then scrape to expose the metal part, or just solder the wire with the solder thats on the board?

Okay cool. How do I wire in the resistor to the data lines? To I solder one leg in TP1 and the other in TP2? Its been a while since I have modded and I never had to do this.

@ChaoticMonk Great write up!!!

I am heading to RS now. I am picking up 10 ohm and 100 ohm resistors for this mod.

Questions:
What is the recommended wattage for the resistors 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, or… ?
What size security torx do I need to get, I know there are 2 different sizes based on this discussion?

its a Torx T10 , and T6
someone said T5 instead of T6 , but that ended up being too small, and T6 worked instead

Next step. Wiring up the headset jack from xbox one pad to the fightstick somewhere? anyone got any tips?
