Id like to add an xbox one pad to a qanba stick with an imp. Im just wondering with an imp where would I solder the wires from the buttons and stick to? Both qanba and xbox one pcbs?
Iām at a bit of a loss here. Ive verified all my connections but from what I can tell in training mode in KI it thinks im pressing every button. If i switch the LB and ground connections ( i know this because i mixed them up) every button works but LBā¦ Any ideas? Thanks.
TBH and IMO soldering is easier for tight spaces but if you have the room crimping is acceptable. If they allow crimping for professional audio demonstrations itās acceptable for a fight stick
I should have been more specific sorry. Iām wiring this up to the inputs on the CHImp board as well as using the ground on the CHImp. Iām taking power from a cable plugged directly into the pcb from the play n charge kit so Iām not using the CHImp board in any way other then using the terminals to tie into the buttons and the ground, which ive verified works with all buttons ( testing each button to ground on continuity and pressing the button reads across) the ground is on the next stud above it because i lifted the trace. This was happening before finding a new ground though. The soldering looks a little crude right now but thats because ive had the wires off a few times and I just want to get it to work before i re-do the connections.
everything was working ahead of time. Iām no newb to electronics so I tested the stick on my 360 and ps3 and tested the controller before starting the mod. I dont think the CHImp has anything to do with this since Iām just using the terminals as an easy location to jack into the buttons and the power is being fed to the xbox one pcb via the stock controller
If i switch the ground and lb wires everything works but LB.
Shorten those wires budā¦too much exposed wire. And get those analog sticks offa there! My second attempt coming up. Wonāt be perfect but will be clean. Removed all buttons and analog sticks. Kept the two board pcb layout thoughā¦Not attempting that again LOL
Oh I know the wires are too long. As I mentioned its just temporary until I figure out whatās going on. Iām pretty sure I read a few pages back that if you remove the analog sticks you have to wire in resistors. Is that right? Thatās why I kept them on there for now.
Where the black wire is connected in your picture is actually your LB connection and the other three points close by it are ground (blue wire) (thx Ed1371). There was a picture posted earlier that was labeled wrong, I made this mistake myself following that picture and realized it when trying to find somewhere else to solder because I messed up LB and GND with my iron. If you donāt think the ground is good at that point you can check continuity between that point and the usb connector housing. If itās busted, you can get your ground from the other side, by your RB connection, the other 3 posts are ground.
I donāt know why your LB stops working thoughā¦ I messed up the trace so bad on mine, I had to connect directly to the header for my LB.
Yes, the SfxT pads are pretty much all I use for mods these days because they are so cheap.
When you are doing this mod, first I would suggest a project box for the Xbone pad.
2nd Make sure when you are soldering to the connections on the sfxt pad in a way that you do no interfere with the padding and whatnot since you plan on using it.
