Thanks for this. I would have missed this game entirely.

Personally I would have paid way more for a game of that caliber. Co op is just mad fun.

So…the xbox that I JUST bought is acting retarded now. I had some hdmi cables plugged in, and now I’m getting white lines on the screen. I switched back to the original cables and everything is fine again. I’m use to playing in HD and this blurry shit is horrible. Any clue why it’s doing that? My guess is a graphical problem…?

I’m late, really late at that, but I’m playing Saints Row 2 now. This shit is so damned good. Wish I got this instead of that god awful GTA4, when they both came out.

Definitely putting that on my queue and will probably buy it after. I would have missed this game entirely, thanks.

:party:Red dead and alan wake tomorrow!

I gotta go to the store to do the midnight release in a few minutes. Then I’ll only have but an hour or so to mess around with Red Dead since I have to work the morning shift tomorrow. LAAAAAAAME!

Yeah. Good looking out Rexxx. Since no one can advertise on the Indie Games it’s hard to find out when stuff is out and what’s even any good.

Try a different HDMI cable

The online fee disease is spreading…

UFC Undisputed 2010 Requires code to play online

It’s only a fee if you buy the game second hand. Something I almost never do anymore. But lately games are being sold for than less the MSRP. Maybe it’ll balance out.

I’m sure it’s not going to make me popular when I say that I am a big fan of this second-hand fee that companies are charging. I’m not a fan of buying used games. It does not help the industry at all to purchase used, especially in this day and age where everywhere pretty much supports videogames and there is almost always a sale on games.

i actually like the ideal to, but not from EA and not for supports games.

Finished Alan Wake. I liked it. I thought you guys would be all over that game.

Its a busy month. Give it time.

Oooo. Another (old) Virtual On game!

Wish it was XBLA instead of retail. Hopefully it comes to the US and I don’t have to import it. Dunno if I’d spend $60+shipping on an older Virtual On, though.

dumb. Tons of other things have second hand markets and do fine. You don’t see car companies charging fees to start their used cars. If you want people to keep your game and not sell it, then make it have some replay value.

fuck yes will buy

Finally started playing Final Fantasy XIII last week and love it so far. I just got to chapter 11, where you can free roam and do all the side quests and stuff.

Question: It says when you start a quest and cancel it or whatever, it will be abandoned. Does that mean it won’t be there at all anymore?

Also, can someone please explain to me what the deal is with weapons and upgrades? I’ve gotten probably 5 or 6 weapons so far with Lightning for example, and they are all WORSE than the original Gladius. I remember in the beginning they said some weapons can be leveled up further than others and whatnot. But how are you supposed to know which ones can be leveled up far? I don’t waste a bunch of parts on one weapons only to find out it goes up to level 5 or something. And is there any method to adding the experience to the weapon? I tried to fool around with it one time but it didn’t make much sense as far as the bonuses are concerned. It didn’t make sense so I just didn’t save it. I still, to this point, Chapter 11, haven’t upgraded anything. Or bought anything from the shop for that matter.

The upgrade system is rather poorly explained, and up until the end of the game you kinda have this feeling of "well shit, I don’t want to waste items on the wrong thing!"
The good news is that there are not really any “expendable” items that you need for anything other than upgrading. I just finished the game recently and my bag is so full of random claws and oozes and other shit that I almost wish I could use it all, but it’s just not worth using once you get certain things available to you from the stores.

Basically, what you want to do for upgrading is, use crappy stuff to get your bonus up to a 3x EXP bonus. I think the earliest item you get that is the most efficient at doing this is something like Sturdy Claw. It will take 36 of them to get a full 3x bonus. There’s a trick that you can get the most EXP out of the 36 claws by using them in smaller quantities to take advantage of the progressive bonuses (upgrade using the following quantities: 4, 4, 7, 3, 18 claws), but it’s not worth it by the time you get to the end of the game. I mean, you literally are farming for items that sell for 150K a piece, so you stop caring about spending 1000 on claws

So, yeah, all weapons have 3 levels. The third is considered that character’s “Ultimate weapon”. All ultimate weapons have the same name, but can have different stats depending on what you obtained it from upgrading. Also, you’ve noticed that some weapons have side effects, right? Permanent in-battle “bonuses” on some weapons. For example, what I consider to be the best weapon with Lightning is the Axis Blade. This allows her to recharge her ATB gauge a little everytime she hits the enemy. Pretty good with her as Ravager to build up stagger quickly. Anyway, back to the point. When you upgrade Axis Blade to its second level, you get ATB Charge II, which allows her to fill up even more ATB on each hit. So there are definite bonuses to upgrading weapons, not only the +str or +mag.

When a weapon reaches its “max” level, it gives it a star where the level used to be. Then you need what’s called a “Catalyst” - these are available from The Motherlode shop (IIRC). Things like Millerite, Trapezohedron, etc. It depends on the weapon. Once your weapon is maxed out, you won’t be able to select anything besides the correct catalyst. (All other options are grayed out)

Shit, gotta run, but hopefully this at least helps a little. Sorry if I confused you more, I’ll come edit this maybe later when I get home.

I’m beyond surprised no one made this thread earlier. For the record I’m much more hyped for AW then RDR even though I loved GTA4.

Thanks Rampage. I’m still a little confused though lol.

So the Axis blade can “become” the ultimate weapon through the proper catalysts? Or there’s another weapon you get later that is the ultimate weapon?

I messed around a bit more with leveling up the Axis blade, I went from Level 1 to Level 7 and barely saw any improvement, and I seemed to use quite a bit of stuff to level it up. I guess if weapons can get up to like level 100 it will be different.

I don’t wanna feel like I’ve wasted parts, will I end up having so many that it won’t matter?

Is there any point to leveling up accessories? Just increased hp, mp, resist whatever?
