Thats like saying anything with Dakota Fanning it from now on will be “Version of Twilight.”

Yahoo! Movies: X-Men: First Class (2011)

I like McAvoy.

Whatever, its Hollywood. I’ll watch it just because.

Theres always LOVE interest in X-men…
dnt be stupid about it cuz its a new movie… its always there, its just not gonna be scott and jean yet…

Male is smart… I just wanna be, "normal"
heeey, my penis didnt mutate, so it still doesn’t suck itself biiiitch!

This moive is all WHEELS N DA JEW! haha

The director already said that “Twilight Girls” will like it. Check on Yahoo.

i dunno how this is gonna attract twilight fans…mags and prof x arent that young or pretty.

also lol at chibi mystique in the new tv spot.

The difference is that Dakota Fanning was well established as an actor before she appeared in Twilight. The black vampire (don’t even know his real name) got his start on Twilight, so the association will be much, much stronger and prominent.

X-Men sucked.
X-Men 2 sucked.
X-Men 3 sucked.
X-Men: First Class will suck.

I have a feeling this is gonna be decent… As long as you to try to keep it in the 616 world

I usually don’t go to the theatres to watch a movie where I’m pretty sure I won’t like. And it’s worked out great for the most part. Some exceptions were Suckerpunch, because my friend offered to pay for my ticket. Phantom Menace, not because I’m a StarWars fan, because I’m not… but for the fact that Star Wars is such a a huge cultural icon, and the release of a new one was like a major event of hype.

If I see a bad movie, it’s mostly because I didn’t do research beforehand to see what the general consensus was, or that I was hopeful that it would be entertaining somehow. If friends try to get me to go see a movie with them that I am highly skeptical about, I will flat out tell them ‘hell no, thank you’. I simply don’t like the thought of contributing even the smallest amount of money in support of crappy movies. Torrenting movies is what I sometimes rely on to satisfy the morbid curiousity for films that I’d like to see just how bad they are.

Also, I’m aware that sometimes I won’t agree with the general consensus about every movie. I can end up digging an unpopular film, or detesting some critically acclaimed masterpiece. But everyone doesn’t have all the time in the world to view everything to be able to form their own unbiased opinion. Some things ya just gotta make what you believe is the best judgement call.

Man…

I just saw the tv spot. I’d be surprised if the movie managed to be as bad as the ad made it look. Only because it would be such a feat.

I liked the Xmen Trilogy. Didn’t care for Origins, though.

Chibi Mystique? I think this movie will try and do too much like X-men 3. Is Mystique supposed to be a teen in this as well? If so they’ve fucked up on that too as I believe Mystique is about 80 years old as she ages slowly much like Wolverine.

I think the movie will do just fine. I have reservations about it for sure but i mean they got Bryan Singer on board for the story so the movie could be good. If anything i’m interested in how the HellFire Club will be handled.

Just got out of the movie and besides a few things This movie was Awesome!!

It was refreshing to see the xmen again, and this way Im down for.

Not too much of a spoiler but there is a part where other mutants are being recruited and you will Laugh your ass off!!! And damn Zoe Kravitz was looking tasty…i hope the boys around her age locked that down cause she’s a banger 4sure.

The story is dope IMHO because I do like the job the actors did playing Charles and Erik.

Xmen first class 8.3/10 Very solid movie!! and yes Nightcrawlers dad was kicking ass!!

Definitely a dope movie and Nightcrawlers dad was indeed kicking ass and taking names but one thing did bother me though

Darwin

Spoiler

how in the world can this guy die from what Shaw did to him? It makes no sense considering he essentially adapts to anything thats thrown at him. I thought for a minute that his body was gonna adjust to the explosion but he just died which is BS cause in the comics that would never happen

Black dude dies first.

//Posted in Movie fanatic thread but being the noob to the GD forum I’m ignored and stupidly missed this thread.

So I saw X-Men First Class two nights ago.
As a ‘prequel’ film I thought it did really well in terms of not being too hung up on time taken to introduce characters. Never felt like you were bored at any point.
Both McAvoy’s Prof X and Fassbender’s Magneto were excellently portrayed and I couldn’t think of any critique to their performances.
Villains were not as fleshed out, imo, other than Kevin Bacon’s Sebastian Shaw, who was brilliant.
Thought the way they were emulating the cold war was awkward at times because everything looked rather ‘new’ for the time period and they didn’t have any retro TVs depicted; other than weird look-alike flat screens. Not a major point but anyone who’s seen it can comment otherwise.

Ending was self-fulfilling and the audience could predict what would happen for the most part. But that can be said for all ‘prequel’ films condemned to this.
Showing Mag-f***ing-neto in his traditional villain attire at the end made me smile. The way Xavier becomes wheelchair-bound was the only gripe I had.
Angel preferring to be a stripper rather than a mutant was . Random relationship pairings seemed kinda forced, but they were very minor in the plot anyway.

I kinda want to see this, but I’m still on the fence. Was it better than X3 and on the same level at least of X1 & X2?

Definitely sounds like it from what people and critics are saying.
I’ve also read critics and regular people saying that it’s the best superhero movie since TDK.

I’m honestly surprised that to hear this movie is decent considering that most of the promotional material has been uniformly terribad. And apparently, production had all sorts of problems.
