Dude, did you ever read the comic?! Mindy used guns way more in the movie, and the final scene as well as her dad’s origin and death were heavily altered, but the same thing happened in the comic. Mindy was trained to be a cold, proficient killer.
I wish i could see the legals of these contracts marvel have out… EA and Fox are killing them, but at the same time spiderman (aka fox) did pretty much save them from bankruptcy.
As for this movie it was a good **movie **it did tackle the feeling of the struggle between Charles and humans and mutants really well. However as a comic book “nerd” and one who still collects to this day its hard for me to accept it as x-men because even thinking of it as a what if story, some stuff is just mad random. I kinda try to look at it as a ultimate universe arc.
the only reason this movie is good is because of the focus on charles and X and those dudes played there roles really well. And the director, vaughen (or however you spell his name) is pretty good at doing “serious” comic book movies.
Also the movie succeeds as a movie over all because it wasn’t just 80 mins long. The biggest complaint i heard was there wasn’t enough action…and I disagree.
Anyway I wouldn’t really take my 5 year old to see it, its not the xmen they’ve been pushing down people throats the last decade its much more similar to the x-men i grew up watching on Fox Saturday but with more edge.
So you missed the entire point of the movie somehow? because that sure wasn’t the premise of the movie…
The Rise of Magnus
It’s main issue was tone for me…I just don’t find humor in suffering, and Kick-Ass just let things drag a bit too far. Kick-Ass challenging the thugs and getting beat up in a comical way, that’s fine–then the guy stabs him, and the kid is going across the parking lot, bleeding and in shock–I dunno, I think I have a broad sense of humor, but I wonder what Matthew Vaughn considers funny…it’s not grossout humor, it’s not comical humor, it’s watching people get hurt and lingering on it, well after if stopped being funny. I just thought it was a mean spirited flick. Plus I despised the use of 28 Days Later and Sunshine’s main themes for the supposed super dramatic bits(and it pissed me off even more when Walking Dead did the same shit, with the same music).
It’s what Mark Millar finds funny.
And really… Sunshine? Wow… This conversation is over.
I dug the movie. As a comic book nerd, there were some parts that annoyed me, but I enjoyed the movie and it did its job which was to entertain me. The acting was quite good.

- How the story moved. The movie just blew by
- Prof X dropping pickup lines on bitches and drinking heavy at keggers
- The Wolverine cameo
- Magneto doing Flight, Hyper Grav, and Gravity Squeeze
- No humor that seemed like it came from the desk of a WWE executive
Things I didn’t like
- The Fact that I read too many fucking comic books, thus making some parts of this movie confuse me like
a) White Queen did use her fucking diamond form that early
b) 1st time Magneto used his powers, he was a fucking grown man, not a grade schooler - Not sign of EM Disruptor, Shockwave, or Magnetic Blast
- No irish/scottish accent from Moira
- How many times did Erik get tackled before those missiles finally fell and exploded? I think Erik got sacked like 4 times.[/spoiler]

Actually like it. Magneto and Xavier were at the front of the movie, Kevin Bacon’s Sebastion Shaw was so fucking suave, and of course 60s madmen-esque set pieces, wardrobe, and lingo GROOVY. PRof X all about the pussy, and all that.
The only teens in the movie was Douchebag Havoc and Ginger Banshee, and they were not in the movie enough to form real connection to.
Beast went from cool dude to asshole when he was all “you’re beautiful now”

This was the 1st good X-Men movie, they did get some things pretty wrong and mixed up but I will ignore that because its not that WTF, even though I cannot excuse them for making a bug bitch have the same codename as Warren Worthington III. Pisses me off.
Otherwise, very good, very entertaining, a bit slow in places, but almost all movies are slow these days. It also had the greatest cameo in the history of cinema.
