X-men: Dark Phoenix: (June 7,2019)

I think movie Apocalypse was fine… he just didn’t understand power wasn’t the most important. He doesn’t belong to XXI Century but that doesn’t really make him evil.

He was kind of benevolent in some form too, he wanted to be a paternal figure for mutants and you see how he restrains on killing those mutants who were against him. It’s not that he hated humans but he didn’t care about them at all, he saw everything in terms of power.

His biggest weakness was his almost complete lack of empathy, which was Charles’ strength. In that sense, it’s a round message.

The movie was meh to me, from a dialogue/story standpoint. I wished they just kept the weird effect on apocs voice permanent throughout the movie, the inconsistency was bothering me a bit. Granted I was super nitpicky due to being under the influence at the time, but the action and graphics made it worth a watch at least.

I don’t know why you fags sit around, bad mouth a movie before it comes out, EXPECT to not like and go watch it anyway… So you can over-emphasize all the things you didn’t like about it so you can keep your initial opinion of badmouthing.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

Worst
Nerds
Ever

can I take neither for 500 Alex?

from the guy who liked BvS.

It’s called an opinion, Pimpus. Try having one of your own, son.

Came from it, and yeah, there was obviously things that they could have improved upon, but then again, huge cast of characters always seemed to have caused problems in movies of this scope.

They still made it fun, though.

And even though Apocalypse’s powers was this time a bit more downplayed, he was still leagues above the fuck out of everyone.

Spoiler

Still took a goddamn Phoenix to take him down.

Why is it that Apoc in every medium BUT the comics version always been overpowered as hell?

My opinion is Fox is shit and everything they touch is ass incarnate.

Notice how the movie furthest from their sphere of influence (Deadpool) is the most successful and acclaimed one.

You’re an X-men fan. Stop it.

MEEEEEP!

Convoluted continuity? The MCU works perfectly if just watch it in release order.

Singer couldn’t even make a coherent sequel to his own movie.

Yeah, agree on that.

My wishlist/predictions for the future movies, in release order.

WOLVERINE 3 - Set in the future, Old Man Logan storyline.

NEW MUTANTS - Set in the present, protagonist will be X-23 and will include Patrick Stewart as Prof. X, Colossus actor from Deadpool, Negasonic Teenage Warhead and probably Magick (Colossus’s sister) among others. Marsden, Janssen or Halle Berry may reprise their roles as cameos (probably teachers of the Xavier school). Villain: Mr. Sinister. I’d like to have a trip to Savage Land or Mojoverse… X-Men vs dinosaurs or Mojo and Spyral would be really cool.

DEADPOOL 2 - Set in the present and will include the time-travelling Cable but it won’t touch much about his origins. Will set the stage for an X-Force Movie.

X-MEN: THE PHOENIX SAGA - Set in the ‘90s and in space. Would introduce aliens and stuff. It will probably explain Cyclops’ alien connections and probably end with Essex getting Cyclops’s DNA to create Cable.

X-FORCE - Set in the present. A sort of Terminator-like adventure, trying to prevent a future from happening. Villains could be Master Mold, Bastion, alternate future Apocalypse or future Mr. Sinister (or clones like Stryfe).

X-MEN: BATTLE OF THE ATOM/MESSIAH WAR/WHATEVER TITLE THEY WANT. I imagine a super-crossover including the time-displaced '90s X-Men (Sansa and the others) encountering their “classic trilogy” counterparts (Marsden and such) along with the New Mutants, Deadpool, Gambit (if the movie ever gets released), and we would have X-23 meeting Wolverine (they’ll make Jackman comeback, I’m sure), Cable meeting Cyclops and so on…

HONK!

Look at that “Apocalypse” rating… Thanks for proving my point, homie!

We all know Apocalypse is getting bad to mediocre grades with critics and audiences, but Deadpool is not the most acclaimed one. X2, First Class and Days of Future Past all of them are above Deadpool in matters of critical acclaim. Specially Days of Future Past. Far above Deadpool.

They already confirmed a ton of the Wolverine 3/2017 stuff a while ago. Hell, they pretty much already cast Sarah Kinney a week ago.

So Apocalypse was the 2nd worst xmen movie. I havent seen it yet but Ive already heard tons of bad things about it. Guess Ill go see it today…online -_-

Last Stand is an A- while Origins is a B+? This is not a good reference for those who want to dog the film. Origins and LS were both F’s.

I browsed around Rotten Tomatoes and one of the negs was “JLaw was given little to do”.

So Let me get this straight. People were complaining about how Mystique was like the poster girl of the movie, how “just because she is jlaw” she gets the undeserving screen attention. Now it is revealed that they gave these young actors (who are playing the X-men) the actual spot light and the most/best scenes over an “A List” actress, and that is bad?

I thought this was better than First Class and the first 3 X films because i got to see cyke do more than the occasional optic blasts; i got to see nightcrawler actually fight and have useful screen time which he did not have past the 2nd opening scene in X2; i got to see Jean do what she was known to do by destroying it with the phoenix. They were not sidelined by a “top” Hollywood star as i amd everybody feared, i got to see the actual X-men. Finally.

All the people here hating on the film are the same ones who were defending BvS. That movie was bad. This was not.

Second worst? Not sure. There are a lot of people who are really enjoying it. But I can say the writing is really lazy.

Friend: This movie sucked. It didn’t follow the comics or the animated TV show.
Me: You do realize it’s (the Fox movies) a separate universe from the comics and TV shows.
Friend: Yeah but they didn’t follow the TV show.
Me: The TV show is its own universe.
Friend: Yeah but the movie sucked anyway. At least the Marvel movies (Avengers) followed the comic books and TV show.
Me: clicks on block button

I can understand that thinking.

I’m fine with different versions of characters and reinterpretations of story lines, as long as the characters are an accurate representation of the source material.

The MCU handles that aspect perfectly.

Fox has largely thrown that out the window for the vast majority of characters in their X-Men movies. We can all remember “Deadpool”.

Same with the Bay Transformers movies. Optimus is just so far removed from every previous version of him, that it’s hard for TF fans to accept that portrayal.
