X-men: Dark Phoenix: (June 7,2019)

As much as we would suck J Law’s asshole.

Not to mention becoming super popular from Hunger Games along with all the crap since seems to kind of made her crazy and think she’s a much bigger deal than she is. I mean remember, it wasn’t too long ago she was complaining about how much she was making, when at the time the only actor making more was freaking Robert Downey Jr.

Why are Singer and co. bending over backwards for JLaw anyways? People are not watching the movies for JLaw. They’re watching it because it has X-Men on the title.
I’m sure the series wouldn’t miss a beat if they changed actress in between, just so they can focus on making a better product rather than pandering to a megalomaniac.

So that’s a “No”, then.

Because like I’ve said many times in the past, Fox loves star vehicles. They don’t care about ensembles, they want one star to build an entire franchise around no matter how little it makes sense.

She’s the biggest name attracted to the film.

Too mas Freud.

Tomato score has gone up from 41% to 52%, it’s pretty clear the critics were over-reacting in the beginning.

41% looks better.

If it were school, it would be the difference between just outright sucking, and compassionate assisted loading onto the short bus.

And? An X-Men movie would still sell, even if you put hot model X as Mystique.
The last thing I would have expected the X-Men movie series to evolve to is how important Mystique is as a character.

They already did that. But she wasn’t the fucken leader of the X Men.

This. BVS having a low score probably worked more to its benefit than having an average score. It means people are going to be talking about it a lot more no matter what.

Apoc with a mediocre score means people will forget about it within a month. You’d rather be terribly bad than be outright forgotten.

Like Saitsu said, Fox likes to use the X-Men films as star vehicles. The original movie was the only one that felt like an ensemble. The rest were focus on one or two characters with the rest acting as a supporting cast.

Why are they bending backwards for Jennifer Lawrence? Easy, because they know that if they don’t, she’ll cry chauvinism and misogyny and claim that they’re refusing to give her the respect and money she deserves just because she’s not only a woman, but a relatively young woman, and that they’re not treating her equally. Even though that would obviously be bullshit, the fact that Jennifer Lawrence is a really popular female actress and has always been super vocal about “girl power” and “feminism” on things means that they don’t want to risk alienating people over it. Even if the people who’d actually think that, would just be brainless fans that can’t think for themselves enough to realize it’s horse shit.

I mean fuck, it’s why people/places/shows/whatever cater to Sarkeesian despite her being a fucking crazy, hypocritical, attention-seeking bitch.

Guys, no need for all this. It’s simple.

Fuck Fox. Fuck Kinberg. Fuck Singer. Fuck the X-Men.

(First and foremost, thanks for the lengthy synopsis, @4neqs.)

I must admit that from said lengthy synopsis, the movie doesn’t sound as bad I was expecting, but it still sounds disappointing and mediocre-at-best, so I won’t be bothering to see it.

I must admit that I chuckled at the fact that Summers clan gets fucked over again. Agni Christ, FOX might hate them more than Marvel does.

When X3 arguably did a better Angel… yeah. I’d say it’s not all good. Plus I’m sure I missed a bunch of details. As you could probably tell from the trailers they did go the destruction porn route with the Magneto/Horsemen

Spoiler

I think because of the mind battle between Apoc and Xavier… instead of Magneto’s hate, it might be the residual Apoc hate in Xavier’s mind or whatever that triggers Onslaught in the future. I hope not.

Apoc was a bit lame for me in the movie. He was just border line silly. He would come in and whisper like some creepy pedophile and then end up yelling his ass off about completely nothing. The silly part of his dialogue is that every time he started to make a yelling speech, his lines ended in a horrible sounding autotune. He was typically the “i woke up from my thousand year sleep now i’m going to destroy the world, scream at every body about it and then eventually get my ass whooped by newbie teens” villain. This was straight up power rangers, just from the look and the feel of it and he really did look like Ivan Ooz. With all that shit cg they threw all over the place, they couldn’t have the intelligence enough to work on his make up.

I’m in debate if BvS was actually better than this, to be honest.

(Ivan Ooze was actually intentionally funny though, which I imagine the difference is that movie Apocalypse isn’t supposed to be, though 90s cartoon Apocalypse was fun in a bad-ass sort of way. So maybe they were aiming for that and just missed the mark horribly.)

Similarly, at the very least, I would imagine Batman v Superman is worse than this from an expectations level, save for ironically Benjamin Affleck’s portrayal of Psycho Ranger Batman. As much as certain idiots wanted to come into this thread and say that they couldn’t understand how we had high hopes for this movie, we…didn’t, basically from the beginning.

Oh well. Civil War made up for at least two shitty comic book movies this year. Doctor Strange should help there as well and maybe Suicide Squad will do so as well. At the very least, as indifferent as I was to Suicide Squad, I had more hope for it than I ever did this movie after hearing how Jennifer Lawrence’s head was continuing to swell with false power because FOX bent over backward in its usual idiocy to keep her mediocre ass.

It’s hard to debate (for me at least) in which was worse/better between XAOA and BvS… Right now, i’m this close to saying it’s worse than BVS. People have rated this either the same as X3 or tied (and there is a minority that give this a very high rating), and i think it’s just slightly better than X3 and I would take BvS over X3 by a large margin.

But again, i do think it’s a toss up on what flaws you will take seriously.
