X-men: Dark Phoenix: (June 7,2019)

Got to say, I got a big kick with the train sequence. For me, it was waaay more intense and engaging than all the final battle of Endgame.

MCU movies, unless it’s anything Winter Soldier related, I can’t really take seriously, it’s nothing but easy fanservice.

Putting Dark Phoenix over Endgame now?

Time to turn off the Internet for today…

IIRC This is the first X-film to not debut at no.1 in opening weekend.
Pathetic

Not saying it’s better. But I enjoyed it more.

I can’t take seriously MCU’s jokey-jokey-fanservicey tone, I’ve always liked more the X-Men movies grounded tone, but I understand why most people are not a fan. Movie could have been way better anyway.

R.I.P Fox X-Men universe. Being an X-Men fan first and foremost since back in the day, i’ve always felt more of a connection to the Fox X-Men. Everytime one came out, i always anticipated it MORE than the MCU stuff. Even though i also enjoy the MCU movies.

They weren’t all great but, majority of Fox X-Men movies have been Good.

X1, X2, First Class, DOFP, Deadpool 1-2, The Wolverine, and Logan were all Good-to-Great.

X-Men 3 and Apocalypse had problems but, were pretty decent overall. With a Good cast, action, and their share of memorable moments.

Dark Phoenix was “okay”. Not terrible but, not great.

Only Origins Wolverine could be considered truly bad.

Overall, the Fox X-Men’s track record was Good. Going to miss Fassbender’s Magneto! He was basically the ‘Wolverine’ of the First Class branch of the movies. He’s easily my pick if i could choose to keep (1) actor for the eventual MCU reboot.

Just pour mountain dew all over your computer, about seven or eight 2 litter bottles while the computer plugged in and powered on has the right effect.

FUCK THE FOX X-MEN UNIVERSE. Glad its gone.

Other than Logan and Deadpool the entirety of the Fox X-Men run can burn in Hell.

I’d honestly have to consider First Class as one of the good ones in the set.

From the main series I liked Days,First Class and X2 and Logan and Dpool 1from the spinoffs the most.

Mystique and time travel ruined those movies for me.

Only saw the latter half of the Dark Phoenix movie, but what I saw was solid. Honestly, Maccavoy, Fassbender et al has helped make the X-Men movies from first class and beyond what they have been. The plot and pacing has had problems here and there but the casting has been on point.

X-Men First class is probably the best movie in the franchise to me.

The other movies pre First Class feel dated.

X-2 is still the best X-Movie for me for the supporting cast alone. Alan Cumming and Brian Cox absolutely fucking killed it and stole the show.

I tried watching first class and DoFP and I felt like everyone was just miscasted and awkward.

That’s is why in general, I found Fox’s X-Men movies to be hit and miss. X-Men is not grounded. Fox put a muzzle on the franchise. I’m glad Ryan Reynolds held out until he could do Deadpool right. Not everything can be done in a grounded fashion and maintain it’s essence. The Dark Phoenix story-line is the last thing from X-Men that should be going for a grounded feel.

You’re not right on that

A story, that it took the cartoon a whole season, and even then its rushed.
The Phoenix Story arc is like a Space Opera, you can’t just ground that shit and try to make it realistic.

And Fox skipped the First Phoenix arc for the movies and try to compress the whole Dark Phoenix into a single movie Dark Knight style? Even if Apocalypse is worst as a movie, what they did to Dark Phoenix is worst from a story telling standpoint.

Not saying it would have been any better but Dark Phoenix was supposed to be two movies. Fox had the writer compress it into one film so they get it out the door before Disney took over.
