it was only mentioned in X3, and supposedly Days of Future Past Retcon out X3 from happening.
Also keep in mind Logan kinda ignored all the other movies plot points, so there already an established precedence for not having to even acknowledge X3, they should of ignored Apocalypse as well.
Just ignore Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. The storyline ends with Days of Future Past and then Logan as a vague bookend standalone story if you want to.
Yeah, they should of ended it at Days of Future Past and let Disney just have the rights after that.
Let Disney decide they want to use the Fox films as a jumping off point or just do their own thing for the MSU.
But Fox had to milk the IP for all that it is worth, same for Fantastic Four (which they had 4 chances, and they blew each one).
Fantastic Four films were so bad that Marvel had vetoed a 5th from Fox before the merger.
Dude, IPs are to exploit. Thatâs why they paid millions of dollars for the rights.
I have literally no problem with them making more films into the XCU, the real problem was that they were kind of lame, and they were rushed AF.
But theyâre still optional films, you see the âendâ in Days of Future Pastâs final scene, so anything that happens is not the closure of the series anyway, and you can ignore those.
True, but Fox rushed it with no idea what they were doing.
If you going to exploit the IP, make your investment count.
The fact is that as long as they didnât lose money on making X-Men movies, then they made it count. All that mattered was making as many movies as possible until the Mouse eventually came calling. The fact that some of the movies were actually good was just gravy.
I agree on that.
I agree with Charlie on this not being dumpster fire level like Last Stand and X-men Wolverine Origins.
Still in the alright tier.
The handle the Dark Phoenix saga better than The Last Stand, which truthfully isnât saying much.
Iâm going to miss Fassbenderâs young buck Magneto!! He killed it in the role during the trilogy.
As did the actor for Beast.
Honestly, I just saw it. Not great, but nowhere near what I would call horrible. Glad they gave Cyclops his balls back & let him wreck shit. Shit also had some dope ass action scenes
Better than Apocalypse, X3 & Origins by far
You want to re-think that statement?
I agree with him on the first part of his statement. The making it a two parter bs, is where I take the exit lane on agreeing him.
Even Andre the Black Nerd, the most optimistic critic on youtube, gives this a 3/6 (5/10) mark. Sigh.
This movie wasnât worth $4 (T-Mobile Tuesday promotional price). I want my money and time back.
I havenât seen but it is such a shame. They just have just went with canceling it. I heard they had ideas for it. They could have handled it to Marvel but they probably didnât due that to Fox.
Iâm sure Disney wouldâve just canceled it outright if that were the case.
Only thing that matters at this point is this movie making its budget back and making a bit of profit. If it does, then mission accomplished and everyone can move forward as if it didnât happen.
You canât do the Phoenix and wrap it all up, in (1) movie. Done. Not enough time to do it justice.
Same with Apocalypse. They introduced him, then killed him off before we even got to know the character, and wrapped it all up neat in a single movie. So much more could have been had from that, just like Phoenix. I love the Fox X-Men series but thatâs one thing i canât defend.
You need time to work up to the Phoenix Saga. Like how it took the MCU 10 years to work to Infinity Wars/End Game, adding bits and pieces along the way. Maybe not 10 years, but you need more than just a Trilogy to tell.
The 90âs animated TV show took the entire 3rd Season to tell the story arc, going though the whole Phoenix Saga a 5 part episode before doing the Dark Phoenix which was another 4 Episodes. And 3 More Episodes to close the whole arc.
And even then, the story is hugely rushed and taken bits and pieces.
I just watched the movie. My opinion (NO SPOILERS).
I liked it for the most part. 6.5/10, I enjoyed it more than Avengers: Endgame. Theyâre two very different movies but Iâve always felt much more engaged with the âgroundedâ approach of the XCU movies.
For sure better than Apocalypse, that showed that kind of âepicâ style doesnât really work with this version of the X-Men Universe. Instead, this was a more intimate story and a good version of the Phoenix storyline for my taste.
Yeah, there are two or three pretty terrible things, but in general I liked it and it kept me engaged for most of the ride. Good acting, good mutant drama, some very badass moments and a couple terrific action scenes. And youâll see they adapted more things from the comics than you expected.
Iâll miss McAvoy and Fassbender and this version of the X-Men. This really didnât felt like an end, but whatever, at this point I think itâs time for the franchise to take the next step, and I want to see whatâs next.
