With Simon Kinberg writing and directing, no time delay could fix those problems.
Let us not forget that this is his first ever official directing credit
(Rumors abound that he ghost directed parts of Apocalypse and FF 2015.)
If people are debating if this is worse than Wolverine origins then itās most likely trash. Wait for some dude from Asia to upload a bootleg copy on the net.
Iām waiting for Double Toastedās review on this.
The guys from Film Fury loved it. Thatās hope restored to me!
Collider says thereās a lot of things to like in the movie, and also that in the direction you can tell itās clear that āKinberg does read comicsā:
i havent seen people in more denial than a girl in an abusive relationship. āsure he hit meā¦but heās sorry and he just lost his temper. Heās actually a really good guyā
Iāll always Love the Fox X-Men universe over the MCU. I admit iām a bit biased, as an X-Men fan first and foremost. However, most of the Fox X-Men movies have been Good! Out of like 13 movies (deadpoolās & Loganās included), only 2-3 X-flicks have been truly mediocre.
But my hopes werenāt particularly high for Dark Phoenix for some reason. Iāll still go see it out of curiosity though, and because itās the Swan song to the Fox X-Men universe.
On a side-note, a few weeks ago i saw them unboxing the giant Dark Phoenix Marguee at my local theater. On the box it had the Dark Phoenix logo, with Marvel and DISNEY beneath it. So the mouse is officially well and truly in charge.
Nah. Itās only the channels Iām suscribed to and follow daily (because I kind of trust them) happened to think the movie wasnāt all bad.
Itās more like āseeing is believingā. I was going to watch the movie anyway, Iāve liked most of the X-Men movies to a degree, so Whatās so bad about hoping to like the movie?
Just saw Dark Phoenix! And it was Decent. Not great but, decent. Definitly did the Phoenix stuff more justice than X-3 but not great either.
Cast was good, action was decent, Music was decent, etc.
However, no spoilers but, it was similiar to X-Men Apocalypse in terms of being underwelming, rushed conclusion, and not having enough time to fully draw things out. Just like Apocalypse, this one should have also been a two-parter, and certainly has enough material in the lore to fill two movies. To really do things justice. I just felt like there should have been MORE.
So yeah, If you didnāt like Apocalypse for these reasons, youāll be pissed at this movie too for doing the same thing. But i myself enjoyed Apocalypse for what it got right and this movie i thought was also decent. Some said it Dark Phoenix was worse than Origins Wolverine. Haha, no.
Not a dumpster fire by any means. That title still goes to Origins wolverine. Dark Phoenix was decent but, it should have been a 2-parter or something to really do justice to the Phoenix stuff. Instead of it just being a 1-shot with everything wrapped up in the end. There were moments where it felt like they wanted to be more elaborate with the Phoenix stuff but, they couldnāt, do to the runtime. The āexplanationā we got for the Phoenix Force for example, was kinda halfassed and felt sped up so they could move on.
Edit: At least this movie did Phoenix better than X-3.
She already used her Phoenix powers in X-Men: Apocalypse, in case you didnāt see it. Itās only in this movie her powers got a boost/became uncontrollable due to a solar flare.
