X-men: Dark Phoenix: (June 7,2019)

With Simon Kinberg writing and directing, no time delay could fix those problems.
Let us not forget that this is his first ever official directing credit
(Rumors abound that he ghost directed parts of Apocalypse and FF 2015.)

Nepotism is a powerful drug.

Also noticed that Simon Kinberg was actually a writer on X3…like seriously man? You gonna fuck up the Dark Phoenix saga twice now? LMAO

Was there ever a doubt? lol

If people are debating if this is worse than Wolverine origins then it’s most likely trash. Wait for some dude from Asia to upload a bootleg copy on the net.

I’m waiting for Double Toasted’s review on this.

It’s gonna be a close race lol

The guys from Film Fury loved it. That’s hope restored to me!

Collider says there’s a lot of things to like in the movie, and also that in the direction you can tell it’s clear that ā€œKinberg does read comicsā€:

Sounds like you’re trying to desperately cling on anyone who says anything remotely good about this movie.

i havent seen people in more denial than a girl in an abusive relationship. ā€œsure he hit me…but he’s sorry and he just lost his temper. He’s actually a really good guyā€

I’ll always Love the Fox X-Men universe over the MCU. I admit i’m a bit biased, as an X-Men fan first and foremost. However, most of the Fox X-Men movies have been Good! Out of like 13 movies (deadpool’s & Logan’s included), only 2-3 X-flicks have been truly mediocre.

But my hopes weren’t particularly high for Dark Phoenix for some reason. I’ll still go see it out of curiosity though, and because it’s the Swan song to the Fox X-Men universe.

On a side-note, a few weeks ago i saw them unboxing the giant Dark Phoenix Marguee at my local theater. On the box it had the Dark Phoenix logo, with Marvel and DISNEY beneath it. So the mouse is officially well and truly in charge.

Nah. It’s only the channels I’m suscribed to and follow daily (because I kind of trust them) happened to think the movie wasn’t all bad.

It’s more like ā€œseeing is believingā€. I was going to watch the movie anyway, I’ve liked most of the X-Men movies to a degree, so What’s so bad about hoping to like the movie?

Here you go!

Just saw Dark Phoenix! And it was Decent. Not great but, decent. Definitly did the Phoenix stuff more justice than X-3 but not great either.

Cast was good, action was decent, Music was decent, etc.

However, no spoilers but, it was similiar to X-Men Apocalypse in terms of being underwelming, rushed conclusion, and not having enough time to fully draw things out. Just like Apocalypse, this one should have also been a two-parter, and certainly has enough material in the lore to fill two movies. To really do things justice. I just felt like there should have been MORE.

So yeah, If you didn’t like Apocalypse for these reasons, you’ll be pissed at this movie too for doing the same thing. But i myself enjoyed Apocalypse for what it got right and this movie i thought was also decent. Some said it Dark Phoenix was worse than Origins Wolverine. Haha, no.

I’d give it a 3 out of 5.

Yup. It was very underwhelming and didn’t do Apocalypse Justice but, it had it’s share of good points. Overall, it was decent.

So Dark Phoenix is a dumpster fire
Got ya

Not a dumpster fire by any means. That title still goes to Origins wolverine. Dark Phoenix was decent but, it should have been a 2-parter or something to really do justice to the Phoenix stuff. Instead of it just being a 1-shot with everything wrapped up in the end. There were moments where it felt like they wanted to be more elaborate with the Phoenix stuff but, they couldn’t, do to the runtime. The ā€œexplanationā€ we got for the Phoenix Force for example, was kinda halfassed and felt sped up so they could move on.

Edit: At least this movie did Phoenix better than X-3.

So erm… if this is linked to the original xmen trilogy. Didnt jean have phoenix in her ass since childhood? I is confused

She already used her Phoenix powers in X-Men: Apocalypse, in case you didn’t see it. It’s only in this movie her powers got a boost/became uncontrollable due to a solar flare.
