My intention was to create RJ45 breakaway cables for various consoles.
I want to use my VLX on ps2/DC along with the current gen lineup. I was under the impression that with multiple PCBs, to switch between them you needed an Imp board or DPDT. My prior experiences were with MCC and Imp v1s along with 360 pcbs, so I donāt know if thatās still the case or not.
Thatās why I was wondering if itās possible to seat the new MCC with/on the 20pin in the VLX custom BUFB. Mostly to see if it still had vertical space to still fit and because I know the original black VLX pcb cover wonāt go back on. If the 20-pin not an option, piggybacking via the screw terminals is nothing big.
Thank you for the reply. I will happily wait however long. I have two VLX I want to do up like this and potentially two undamned decoders done in a similar fashion.
There isnāt enough room to stack them in the VLX. The brook sits pretty close to the top when its all installed with an EZ MOD.
The IMP or DPDT would be required to have a single cable leave the stick. You canāt really get around that unless it was built into one of the boards, and in this case neither the brook nor the MCC have a switching feature for the USB lines. If you want or dont care about having two cables leave the stick, then bridging them over the 20P or the screw terminals would be fine.
MC Cthulhu is available at a huge discount, $19.95 since the USB isnāt 100%. FINAL WEEK. Ships in 2-3 days. http://ow.ly/jEYZ308ITGZ
Theses MC Cthulhu boards do not work reliably on USB connections, i.e. PC or PS3. I think its not enumerating fast enough for the USB aspect to be recognized, i.e. its getting beyond the USB auto-detect faster than the PC can handshake with it. It has been tested working perfectly fine on PSX, Dreamcast, and Gamecube which are the most particular systems this board supports. You can force it into USB Bootloader mode by holding HOME while plugging it in making updates over USB possible. Also, I have had success holding START+SELECT (I think that was it) to get it to force into USB mode. While this may not be an issue for you, please note it does exist.
If I was going to dual mod VLXs and make a undamned decoders, would you recommend getting these now or waiting for a potential revised or fixed boards? Iām wanting at least four.
Yeah, me too; I didnāt realize that this was it.
I might grab one; I donāt play on retro platforms much, but I kinda just want to get it for the cute formfactor.
There is a lot more to it than I care to explain because the back story is long, boring, and not pertinent to the conversation at large. I have a few revised boards and needless to say they perform the same.
What happened with original xbox support? Not that itās a dealbreaker or anything, it just seems odd that that functionality isnāt there as well. Got my four. Thank you very much.
[edit] man. I guess if Iām on this purchase grind, might as well get the two EZ VLX mods as well tomorrow. Still on the hunt for those undamned usb decoders.
I guess with Jasen having issues with USB on the MC Cthulhu OG Xbox falls into that trap, despite that connector not looking like a USB connector the signal definitely is.
