With Jasen’s CUSTOMS… anything is possible. I think the ultimate goal is to make CUSTOM affordable by using stock parts where possible. For example, the PFS2.0 system of system shoved in a custom 2P wide case. Flexibility with creativity.
So far a huge positive response via social media on the latest picture updates of the PFS2.0. I share here for your viewing pleasure. Buttons and not yet installed JLF courtesy of @armi0024 and @SusanInParadise from www.ParadiseArcadeShop.com, my trusted source of buttons and sticks.
Yes, correct. Once I get home from deployment, moved across country, and setup again I’ll let everyone know they are available via FB, Twitter, and here.
I’ll definitely keep an eye out for when those remaining KE Panzers go up. I wasn’t in a position to purchase one during the initial run, but am quite interested still.
I’ll be sure to post them up and let everyone know here an via Social Media. I understand how life gets us sometimes
PFS2.0 Update: There are some tweaks that need to be made for the boards, so the 2.0 won’t be revealed live at EVO. Additionally, I found that the Seimitsu switches on the 30mm buttons are larger than the Sanwa (contrary to the 24mm variants that are within a few hundred of a mm), so I will have to determine the best way to attack this for maximum versatility. Not hard but something to deal with in the second prototype of the boards.
A couple of things to pass along regarding the PFS2.0. I created a “press release” to help the FGC websites understand the PFS2.0 features. Here’s the writeup:
*The Panzer Fight Stick 2.0, the successor to Jasen’s Customs Panzer Fight Stick, is set to make its debut in September 2015. The new design promises to make building an arcade/fight stick as simple as possible using Jasen’s “system of systems”: a plug and play solution out of the box.
The new case, still built from cold rolled steel, boasts multiple output connectors, etched bottom acrylic panel, and a removable top panel. The allowance of different button layouts without the need to replace the entire case makes changing the setup as easy as unbolting the panel and installing a new one. The main system remains undisturbed in the case and only the stick and button panel is replaced. This unmatched modularity ensures the PFS2.0 can adapt to a users needs and desires easily and inexpensively without losing any of the functionality of the overall system.
The “system of system” concept was developed to remove the need for expensive wiring harnesses that take time, skill, and specialized tools to make. Each PFS2.0 features 3 internally develop PCBs that allow buttons and connectors to be connected via supplied jumper wires. The PCBs route all of the signals to ribbon cable connections ensuring that the internals of the PFS2.0 are just as neat and clean as the outside.
A growing trend in the community, the use of LEDs to light buttons, was not ignored. Because the “system of systems” conveniently routes all signals through PCBs, it made sense to include indexed LEDs on the button boards so a user can add the optional Kaimana Khameleon PCB to their PFS2.0 and light it easily. The JCC Kaimana Khameleon, an adaptation of the 2013 SRK Tech Talk Gear of the Year winner Kaimana by Paradise Arcade Shop, snaps into the PS360+ with no additional wiring and instantly adds LED functions to the “system of systems.” This ultimately saves money and time while maintaining a clean and visually appealing installation.
The PFS2.0 capitalizes on the ever popular PS360+ PCB developed by AkiShop customs to make the PFS2.0 an extremely compatible build. In the past, a Panzer user had to choose between the USB and the RJ45 connector of the PS360+ to mount externally on the case. Jasen decided that some choices were too restrictive and opted to make both available via industry standard D-size housings. To maximize expandability, if a person wants to use their PFS2.0 on a SuperGun or an external PadHack for, they can easily with the standard DB-25 port. Each signal, joystick/action button/auxiliary button/5V/GND, is accessible from the female port.
The Panzer Fight Stick 2.0 is slated to launch in September when Jasen returns from a Navy Deployment and relocates to the West Coast. Planned stock layouts include: Vewlix (6 and 8 Button), Noir (6 and 8 Button), and the all button layout championed by HitBox.*
