Any clue on how much the new cases will cost(guess it would be different depending on what material you go with)? Also time frame to see the prototype?
Also what color choices will there be for powder coating or will you just offer one or two colors?
third edit… you have an idea on the dimensions of the new cases? Smaller than the ones you are currently doing?
Pricing depends on the cost and time to make, I would like it to be between $100.00 and $150.00. As for the time frame it all depends on how quickly the shops can get the prototypes done. I wanna say next week but who know? Powder coating color options can be just about any color but I may start out simple ie clear,black and white. Custom colors will be an upgrade and thus cost a bit more, how much I don’t know yet. I guess I should just say that pricing is yet to be determined since I still need to work out the cost to build. I know that making one at a time the price is ridiculous 
I may still make my original design in the future but I think I’m going to give it a rest for a while because all my tools are worn, I’m getting bored doing the same thing over and over, it’s a lot of work and it kind of stresses me out. This new design gives me more options to be creative and since I’m only doing half the work frees up some of my time. I started this as just a hobby and when I started to get stressed out over it I decided that something needed to change. I’m really excited about this new case for myself and to share with others and thats something I haven’t felt in a little while. Anyway I think this will be a sweet case and is something I don’t think anybody else is doing yet lol I hope to have a working prototype in about 2 weeks so stay tuned. VAS-HG FTW!

Nope, he’s not using billet aluminum like nhtran.

I’m open to almost anything really. Rright now I’m looking at either hard wood, Powder coated MDF, Acrylic or ABS. Metal could be a possibility depending on how the shells turn out but It would also add to the cost. What I’m trying to do is build the frame and do all the plexi work myself to save money but outsource the Shells to save some time.
Price is actually pretty low. Was expecting it be be a lot higher. Will the top plexi have round corners? Hard to tell from some of the pics.

No screw holes unless requested for the plexi tops lol Oh and yes I may move the VS-HG button up just a little for more hand room or at least so it’s centered.

Yeah, a steel case sounds really interesting. I really like the feel of the steel top on the namco stick. It would be killer to see something similar.

I vote for steel, man. The heavier the better imo. Can’t wait to see the new designs once you’re cases are finished. I think i may be ordering a VAS-HG Elite w/ Steel casing and Zebrawood siding =]
As for the button layout I like the first one w/ the neutrik hole all the way on the right (front facing the stick)
If the steel is cheaper than aluminum, roll with that. Personally I like ano’ed aluminum over power coated steel. Definitely prefer the 3 buttons / one button layout on the back panel. An acrylic shell may be interesting, but not sure how that would work with the wood sides of the elite (although smoke grey, clear or black would look nice with the curly maple sides…). I can definitely see it for the lite version though.

Ok well thats 2 votes for this layout [ ooo o ] I was leaning toward this one [ oo o o ] mainly because of the spacing inside the case and to separate the home button from the others plus I like the cable coming out the middle so when I play on my lap the cable is between my legs and not resting on it. Anyway My prototype will probably be like this [ oo o o ] but I can change it if everybody likes the other way. I wanna give you guys what you like so keep me in check
Out of curiosity what button layouts are you doing on the prototypes?
I think the steel one should be 6 button astro city, black chrome plate, and curly maples sides (and given to me :bgrin:)

My stick came in a-ok Voltech. Excellent business. I’ll put some pics up when the buttons and sticks are in. Will do business with again.
