**MC Cthulhu’s where all of of stick last week but I should be getting some in later this week
My new design is in the prototype stage all parts have been ordered but the Metal and Plexi shells are still being cut out so I’m just waiting untill I see a few samples before I decide the final design.
I’m exploring a few different options, either a metal (Steel or Aluminum Shell) or acrylic shell with a metal base for added weight. I still want to offer a wooden trim option ala the VAS-HG Elite as well as a less expensive option, the VAS-HG Lite that will sport either painted MDF sides or acrylic\ABS depending on how things turn out. I would prefer the Acrylic or ABS sides but it might be harder to shape but we shall see when I get the shells done. Here’s the
VAS-HG Elite w\Brushed Aluminum case again so their all together.
I did have a question I’d like to ask you guys
If I could only choose one shell type what would you like to see used?
Steel Pros - More weight, higher strength and durability and it will hold its shape, it can be powder coated and is less expensive to purchase than Aluminum. Very precise when shaped
Steel cons - More expensive to cut and shape it weighs more
Aluminum pros - It’s lighter than steel but still very stiff, it can be powder coated and anodized, it easy to cut and shape. Very precise when shaped
Aluminum cons - It’s lighter than steel it can be bent out of shape, if dropped it dings and scratches easily, Cost more than steel
Acrylic pros - No need to coat it, just cut and shape. Comes in many different colors. Less expensive to buy and work with. it can be polished if scratched
Acrylic Cons - It can be scratch easily, it’s pretty light compared to metal esp steel if dropped it could shatter or crack. not as precise when bent to shape as metal so cases could vary in shape
Over all Acrylic is the least expensive option to build with I just don’t know if I like it better than a metal case, What are your thoughts?
What hole pattern do you like better for the back access panel ?
