i’m sorry to hear about that, i’m really interested in getting one of his cases but I don’t want to contribute anymore to his unanswered mail and pm pile. guess i’ll have to settle for something else.
Well, figure I might as well post this. I managed to get ahold and have a chat with Noel, and he has a reason for not being able to communicate very well right now.
That’s just plain fucked up. Sorry to hear about your trouble man. I was sure that a man of his reputation would honor the issue. Home issues or not, business needs to be taken care of.
Im now almost onto my 5th month of waiting. And now im starting to wonder if it will ever arrive.
He hasn’t responded to any of my emails. Sent 1 each month but no reply.
finkle replied to my email on april 29, said that the cases are done and he would ship it that week. still have not received the cases yet.
Yeah it would be nice to know what is going on. Even it was just like “hey im really behind right now… your arcade stick is X in line, I do about X every month… so you can do the math”
He told me 2 months ago that he just needed to wire it. maybe its true! I knew I would have to wait a while, but a status update on my 2 sticks would just be nice. $400 bucks is not just a trivial amount of money to just part with and not have ANY status update.
Im not so much about “hey hurry up” as I am more like “hey whats going on?”
I got my case today… pretty impressed! :]
Now I need a PCB.
Nice looking sticks.
I finally got my case today. It looks REALLY nice except for the fact that… there is no ART! The art he told me to send him so he can put it on is not there. Its just a blank sheet of white paper.
Also the layout on the buttons are not that great. The top left button and the bottom middle buttons are a bit to close to each other. I was unable to screw my buttons without shaving those plastic tighteners for inside the case.
Hope all of you guys ordering sticks get a quality product. Finkle makes pretty sticks, but if you have an issue it’s like pulling teeth getting anything done about it.
I waited like 6 months for my stick and finally get it. Has a HORRIBLE wobble and the dude obviously didn’t want to fix it. He told me to bend it back on a table edge, which didn’t work. I had to end up placing the rubber feet in funky positions to get it level. For $200+ that was a big deal to me even if it might not sound like it to some. Oh also, I had art in the buttons… And it looked like a 3 year old cut them out. All Jagged and sloppy. Again, pretty bad for a $200+ stick.
And then 2 1/2 months later the pcb is going dead on me. If you hold Down + Left on the stick short kick doesn’t work at all. If you continue to hold short kick down after you let the stick go back to neutral it rapidly fires off. I’ve been emailing Finkle for months now about the pcb issues and he won’t even fucking reply.
Real letdown it turned out this way after waiting so long and paying what I did for this stick.
Good luck guys. Hope you don’t have the same issues.
Wow! I unbelievable 6+months lead time. =P I would have lost interests after a month or two.
I ran through a couple of mine slightly with a dremel, then they fit perfect.
Those rubber feet are garbage and yeah, all 3 cases had the wobble. They are not 100% symmetrical but easily fixed with quality rubber feet…the soft ones. It makes a huge difference IMO.
Sorry to hear I’m not the only one who got ignored when they had issues…
I would have lost interest also if he didn’t already have my money. Had no clue it would take that long. Reason I ordered a custom was because I was too impatient and wanted a stick for HDR release. Ended up playing on a ass Hori EX2 until I got the Finkle stick… Luckily the Mad Catz TE sticks hit right when my Finkle stick decided to start crapping out.
Seriously, if this is how Finkle handles shit once he sends something out you guys should avoid him like the plague and go with another custom builder. Never thought this would be the case in a million years, but… Mad Catz > Finkle. At least when my one SE stick had issues they took care of the problem.
Yeah, I had to change the feet. The cheap shit he put on left huge ass black spots on my carpet, and even on my computer desk, after one night use. Noticed it the next morning.
Anyway, just a shitty situation all around. Finkle couldn’t even reply to an email to tell me to fuck off. Just left me hanging for months now while the stick collects dust. The guy doesn’t deserve SRK’s business.
Does anyone know how to get a new plexis for finkle joystick??? The one I found at home depot is too thick. My friend got a stick from finkle but the plexis is super starch right now and he needs a new one. I need help.
If I knew what the actual issue was, I might be able to help you out.
What I think you’re writing is that you need some replacement plastic. The plastic on my stick is a little thicker than 1/16" but 1/16" should work for you. Have any idea of how to cut it?
No, I do not have the tools to cut it or have anyone to drill the holes.
Edit: nevermind
sigh month 5 for me. I’m beginning to think my $400 bucks is gone.
can someone contact finkle? he did contact me in early june to ask for my artwork but i gave him late june den hes not around anymore…
Does anyone know the best way to change artwork? It seems I would either have to take the side pieces off or the top and bottom pieces off and i don’t want to screw up the case. The top and bottom metal pieces seem to be stuck together by some rust or something, so the wood+metal side pieces might be the only option? Can you just push it out or is it glued onto the other panels?
