I really feel like you are a mildly unintelligent person trying to up their post count, you literally didn’t add anything to this thread. I personally don’t feel comparing two games (mvc3/sf) to one game (cod) is fair. Sf has made just as many improvements as just cod has towards that specific audience. There is a reason every machinma respawn video gets like 100,000 views. I used to be big into those games, until i found sf4. All I’m saying is in your arguement we are the minority.
Every angle being everyone vs me, right haha? Agree with alot of your post. I do wanna hear from some salty people other than myself though. Surprised its been so one sided so far.
I’m fine with a re-investment in the game. $70 for an SE I want to keep in my collection, and $40 for a HUGE amount of content that brings in more than any annualized sequels on the market (hell, the new content alone is comparable to full games in the mid-90’s). I prefer physical media to digital. I’d pay $40 every 6 months for updates of this magnitude.
Yeah, thats the full, “robust” single player experiance they promised.
Dont compare it to games in the mid 90s its (edit:almost haha) the mid 2010s. Id pay $20 every 3-6 months for new stuff DLC tho, its not like we’re so far apart.
I agree. I think all these people are the “This rant makes me seem so righteous in my head” people lol We all need to transition to the think before you post strat hah
If everyone on srk said and stuck by a boycott, id join. Im not gonna try and organize one, nor be left out when the game drops. Rock vs Hardplace
I’m not against you at all. Don’t misunderstand me, I know how you feel in your case. However, this type of marketing goes on all around the world, all of the time for generations. And it will continue for many, unless a number of people stand up and say “no” collectively, as Red Rick Das put it. However, just remember the statement I stated before-- your voice on the matter will be completely drowned out by UMvC3 hype, no matter what.
In my honest opinion, continue to play vanilla. Right up until release day of UMvC3. Just because you will be playing an almost completely changed metagame, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t keep up to date on MvC3 basics, which will still be in there.
“Oh they disagree with me, so they must all be (insert ad hominem)”
The only single player I’ll ever need, or want, in a FG is a good, robust, practice mode. I enjoy challenge modes too, for a fast way to learn some move properties when first trying out the game =)
Again…YOUR fault.
So you won’t boycott on your own unless someone else starts it…you are such a punk.
You come off like a battered wife.
Well thats the thing, its not that they disagree with me, I think both sides of the arguement are wrong. He said “everyone vs. me” so i was making fun of “everyone”
Sigh… some people never learn… IT’S CALLED BUSINESS, ALL COMPANIES CHURN OUT A NEW VERSION OF THEIR PRODUCT SOONER OR LATER
No one is forcing you to buy a product, if you don’t want it, that’s your decision and that’s fine.
I’ll let this thread open, as long as the discussion stays HERE.
Ok, what do you think both sides of the argument even are?
I think, the OP was expecting to enjoy a VS fighting game when he/she doesn’t have anybody to play with offline. The large majority of FG players play offline, with people, and we love this game.
The OP is trying to convince everybody that they are getting “ripped off” by Capcom.
The rest of us are telling him that, “we” aren’t getting ripped off, that the reason he/she thinks that is because of the kind of player he/she is.
Do you think the argument is different than this? If so, how? If not, how can you think “both sides are wrong”? If anything, both sides are right; in that the OP believes he didn’t get a good deal (so he didn’t, as his opinion is objectively the only standard that can be used to judge this), and “we” believe that we did get a good deal and are still getting a good deal (which “we” did, as our opinions are objectively the only standard that can be used to judge this).
This thread should close.
Personally, I think that UMvC3 is happening (or at the very least, happening this soon) because of the combined might of the tsunami and PSN outage. If it weren’t for those things, I feel like they would have added at least two more characters (they had two empty slots, after all) as well as supported the game with other patches and post-release content before going ahead with UMvC3.
However, with the tsunami throwing things all out of whack, plus the PSN outage taking out almost all of the potential for them to sell any DLC to Japan (seeing as the PSN outage only very recently got cleared up in Japan, and the PS3 being more populous in Japan compared to 360), this was likely their solution.
That’s how I feel about it anyway. I don’t think it really matters anyway - all the matters is we’re getting a whole lot of game for $40.
I bought Street Fighter 2: Turbo for SNES for around 40-50$ when it first came out. That came with 12fighters.
No, I just think that most of the people here get annoyed when someone complains about something that seems silly or trivial.
Seriously though, when SF4 vanilla came out, I bought a new computer that could handle the graphics, and bought SF4 pc (my computer was oooold). Then I bought a brand new ps3 the day the game came out on console, along with SF4 for PS3. Since then I"ve bought for the ps3 SSF4 and the AE update. Plus I’ve spent hundreds at the arcade.
And yet I’ve never once thought to complain about it. Why? Because I enjoy playing Street Fighter.
So what are you complaining about? Having to shell out $40 for 12 characters, 8 stages, and whatever else they threw in?
Also, how does it in any way matter than some “joe schmo” can buy the game for just $40. It is of no consequence to you, or anybody else here for that matter. Does it make you sick to your stomach to know that someone waited 6 months and paid half the price you did for a HDTV because you bought it the day it came out?
Blah!
I dont think its the end of the world people. I just think this particular way of doing what theyre doing sucks wang. At least worth some open discussion. Im not so mad I wont buy it, and love it im sure. I am however mad enough to bitch on a srk board and gauge reactions.
Me too. That was acceptable 20 YEARS AGO.
We can all make this terrible game go away if we all just don’t buy it.
