Thats why world is such a shitty place I guess, the rich get richer. Deal with it, right? All im doing is saying its unfair to those who bought the game at that high ass price tag for any new game, only to have to buy the new update if you want the experiance and perks that shouldve been included the first time. i just think its wrong to rape the dedicated while casuals and dbags who dont put in on the first go get the ultimate version for so little.
This update wouldnt be possible without the sales from the first iteration right? So why reward those who didnt help make it possible while draining those of us who did? Seems like it should be the opposite.
2 things off the top of my head without doing research they promised and didnt deliver was a robust story mode and pretty much perfect netplay. I remember an interview a while back when someone from capcom, maybe even nitsuma sai the netplay or code was lightning fast, and nearly perfect. 2 total lies. Also they didnt promise spectator but did say they couldnt put it in, even months after release, but here it comes now, in ultimate. Wait, thinking back, they did promise spectator at first, saying it would be patched post release.
It’s… crummy… for people that play online only, like you, but not unfair for anybody. Most of us got a good game the first time and enjoyed it a lot.
I’m not trying to scare you away from FGs by saying this, but seriously, the reason you’re upset is because you play only online. Fighting games really aren’t good online. That’s the problem here. I am sorry for your disappointment, but that’s the reality of it.
considering that back in the '90’s when sf4 was released on the snes, wasnt arcade perfect had no training mode, and only had 8 characters, minimum wage was 4.25 an hour and the game cost $50… yeah i would buy a game with 12 characters and 8 stages 20 years later for less than i paid back then while minimum wage is 8 bucks… man people are so fucking spoiled when it comes to certain things nowadays.
i care more about shit online, spectator mode and actual balancing than i care about a “lack” of characters. shit i thought there might only be 4-6 new characters and yet they come with 12… shits like hallelujuah to me.
Yeah, i get that, but the majority does not go to tournaments or always have that P2 with them. Thats why im saying a fat single player mode should be a no brainer. Like, its the very least a game should ship with.
“So, Zidago, how was the sex?”
“Oh Capcom, it was great. You did some crazy things there but I think it was worth the hassle getting you!”
“So are you ready to go again?”
“What? Give me some time to recover first”
“Nope, right now. Oh and this time I’m fucking you anally with out lubrication. It might hurt at first, but there’s more in it for me and you might like it after a while”
“But Capcom, can’t we just change up what we’re doing now instead of going to such an extreme? Maybe a few toys?”
“No. Now before I put it in, I want you to know one more thing. Let me whisper it in your ear.

I cancelled Mega Man Legends 3.”
To be honest, I’m very certain the sales of MvC3 Vanilla wouldn’t have had a contributing factor at all to UMvC3’s production if they sold terrible, though it does help and encourages production of it.
I can use another analogy here as well-- Consider this: You have just bought a brand new TV for 500$, first of it’s kind, day one. 6 months later, they roll out an updated model of the same version of the TV, only that it’s been refined and added more features. It’s also sold at 350$. Should you be angry that you paid 150$ more for an inferior model? Not really, since you should have gotten your monies worth on the older model by then. If not that, you could have anticipated an updated model and bought it then. You can insert “X game”, “X video game system”, “car”, or whatever instead of TV.
IIRC they will “reward” players that have vanilla in some form or fashion, thought it might be some sort of BS that will also be available via DLC months later, lol.
Im stoked to play it too. Just irritated that joe shmo pays half or less than me, why? Because i believed capcom was gonna A. put out a full product the first time around and B. do DLC with the new stuff as opposed to a disc only release.
If they wouldnt have said DLC in the future, i would have held off for the new disc. If they wouldnt have said anything, i wouldve held off for a new disc.
I don’t think you deserve all the hate you are getting however i think you are misunderstanding who is going to buy this game. Pretty much only people that like mvc3 alot. I haven’t seen any commercials or ads for it so it won’t really attract the casual gamer imo. Sure a couple people will think its flashy but the majority of sale is going to people in your boat.
Yes it is a ripoff, and it absolutely ridiculous to think that the capcom team that made this game are so passionate about the game and they had a small window to complete it and all that bullshit. If you are going to tell me that these people would get together and make this game if they didnt get paid, i facepalm for your embarassment. This thread should be closed, I think every angle has been approached…
Marvel vs Capcom 3/SFIV: gameplay and balance tweaks, new characters
Call of Duty: New game, same **** from the previous game aside from one or 2 small additions, and the DLC is a $15.00 map pack with 5 new levels.
Such is the world. They couldn’t have anticipated the earthquake/tsunami in their country and then PSN hackings after they announced DLC. They simply had to change their business model to an enhanced version sooner than planned. What you will be seeing in November is something they probably planned for Feb~April of next year.
There are plenty of legitimate reasons to be upset with Capcom’s release schedule here. It’s pretty clear they shipped MvC3 at a ‘complete enough’ status to get some return on their development costs, and then would see about finishing up the rest later. I wish they had told us that up front (of course, they have no reason to insofar as corporate interest/profit goes). That said? I got my money’s worth out of MvC3. I am not unhappy with my purchase, not at all. Now Capcom is coming along and asking “Want a better version? With a dozen new characters, one of which you really wanted in the first place and another eight or nine at least somewhat interest you? Plus we’re rebalancing the game some? $40, whataya say?”
As much as I realize I am fueling a cycle that isn’t ideal for consumers… my answer is Yes. Yes, I would and have paid $40 for a game with 12 extra characters and 8 extra stages (some of which are admittedly lazy time/weather variants of existing ones). I’ve pre-ordered and am eagerly awaiting “MvC3: What I should have gotten to begin with” edition. That I should have gotten it to begin with doesn’t negate that MvC3 was a worthwhile purchase for me, and I’m willing to pay a little more in a less than ideal arrangement to get more of what I love.
In other words… I’m basically going: “You’re being mean to us… but… okay. I love you enough to do this.” It’s grudging approval, but approval nonetheless. Capcom simply needs to be aware they are treading a fine line and there is a point where I’ll say “No, this is too much bad-faith, I’m walking away.”
