I never wanted MML3, so that doesn’t affect me at all.
I get your point, but if MML3 was super awesome then cancelling it was a bad idea.
Good things tend to sell regardless of how risky they are. And Capcom are a super mainstream company. It’s not like they don’t have brand awareness of Mega Man. The last bunch of MM games sold poorly. If you’re so interested in them doing well as a company you wouldn’t want any of their projects to do poorly, and should trust that cancelling MML3 was probably for the best - regardless of how much you wanted it.
I think they’ve made a series of terrible decisions. I shouldn’t be forced to pay for them with sketchy games. Release stuff that’s awesome and people will buy it. Don’t just give us the lowest common denominator.
No, 2 million US dollars is not worth as much as it once was.
Lump sum- about 30% tax if not mistaken. Down to 1.4 million. You can live comfortably with vacations and such but have to monitor it and cannot go on former spending sprees as shown in movies.
You can look it up. A million dollars is not as much as it used to be due to the decline of the US dollar over the past ten years. Last I checked 2 million dollars only equals about 1.3 euros. So 1.4 million would equal about only 800 k euro which is enough to live off of.
Where in the past one us dollar equaled about 1. 5 euro when it first established and about 3.75 pounds.
Yes a debt free life that could fall apart at a moment notice. That much money will let you live comfortably. Not rich at all but just live your life comfortably.
You acted like 2 million was a great profit when in fact I just proved it was not. Majority of winners of the million dollar shows either blow it in a year or just put it in savings and live life off of that.
well they buy whats hawt!
Plus people have a familarity and expirience with those games
untill recently, we had games like UT, starcraft, HALO, COD, and the MAdden games redefined themselves in early 2000s…
Many people say the member playing street fighter (or w/e) and beatin people, but c’mon, they prolly played the games for like half an hour…
A lot of my generation lost out on Arcade competitiveness and the time it takes to play fighting games untill recently (CIRCA XBL)
I think Fighters have really stiff competition this year but last year was a good selling point for people to buy stick and get cozy with fighting games…
IMO, they are harder to get into than a madden or FPS, they take maybe as much time but losing and winning feel 100x’s more real/painful/awesome
CoD has been doing good since 4… People didnt really want to buy into the trayarch games but many people like the better than the MW online
Shyt… CoD is brilliant in that what you can do outside the game is just as fun…
Look at all the shyt BO has, zombies, Dead ops, campaign, and multiplayer… For me, the online is fun, but trashy and unrelabile, not as bad as this, but yea…
also the emblem editor was a game seller for me! make any person/thing you would ever want with that thing…
Every time I see a Gorilla fuckin a pig or something, its Hilarious !
Mvc3 wasn’t good, its fun, but not very good (IMO)… they managed to fuck up it up as best they could while keeping memorable playstyles of a favorite characters
it was good for the people it has and I unno if its terribly broken but this does earase last year
Plus I like marvel cuz My gamestop had free pizzaa

I still don’t see why people can’t just ignore Ultimate MvC3 if they feel like it’s going to be a rip-off.
I played SSF4, and was considering SSF4AE, but after giving it a whirl at a friend’s place, I didn’t care for the new characters or any of the changes to the old characters. I didn’t bomb message boards or anything, even though I felt it wasn’t worth my money. I didn’t call out people who did pay $15-40 for the update as being suckers and/or perpetuating a cycle of corporate geed. I just didn’t buy it. That’s all.
12 good characters and 8 decent levels. The levels look good in UMVC3 at least. The characters on the other hand are awful.
This game will bomb for various reasons. Mediocre roster update, November release, screwing over vanilla MVC3 owners, MVC3 in general had a bad word of mouth among casuals thanks to lack of content, etc. . . hopefully they get a chance to remedy this failure with another edition.
Day 1 purchase for me no question. Probably getting the collectors edition too if they got one. I don’t understand people’s complaining. First and foremost SSFIV to SSFIV: AE doesn’t count. Most if not all of us owned SSFIV and bought the DLC which was $15 not $40. So that argument gets thrown out the window. We only got 4 characters and balance changes across the board. If you go by their $5 a character method then we saved $5 just by downloading it instead of buying it. If you owned SSFIV and bought SSFIV: AE on a disc, that’s your own fault. Oh and don’t forget they even gave you an option to be cheap and just keep playing SSFIV against those who actually supported Capcom and downloaded AE.
Secondly, the argument that putting it all out as DLC is cheaper or was a better idea is false, period. Putting this stuff out as DLC costs Capcom money. Each patch they put out costs them money. Each DLC character they want to put out costs money just to THINK about putting it on the XBL or PSN stores. You realize that Capcom pays a fee just to get the DLC sitting in the stores right? With those rising costs you think you’d get these characters for $5 a pop? Probably not. If they were going to patch everything they are changing with all the Vanilla cast into 1 giant patch, you bet your ass it wouldn’t be free.
This method makes sense for everyone. And to those saying their original copies of MvC3 are worthless, yeah you’re right, in 4 months they will be. But until then you will still play it and those hours you played it since February haven’t disappeared and history hasn’t changed. You still got hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of that game. Evo ain’t cancelling the MvC3 brackets just because UMvC3 was announced right? Stop complaining about nothing and just enjoy the fact that we even get an update after the earthquake and knowing how hard it is to hold that Marvel license.
I think gamers have become purposefully ignorant of the economic realities of game development, much to the detriment of the hobby. I don’t even understand what the basis for comparison is within the context of all the whining and penny pinching. Adjusted for inflation, the price of games has steadily gone down since the 8-bit era. 20 years ago, the majority of games retailed for around $49.99, which equates to $75 in 2012. In the meantime, as game prices have literally decreased, the cost of all other facets of game development, from pre-production to distribution, have exponentially sky-rocketed to meet consumer expectations. We’re no longer living in the days of a 2-man development team coding up Donkey Kong, yet people still want to riot over optional DLC they think their measly $59.99 entitles them to.
Compared to every other entertainment medium, games are one of the best value propositions out there. Yes, even when you’re paying $40 for 12 characters, 8 stages, and some miscellaneous tweaking. $50 could buy 18 holes at a shitty golf course for two people, 3 movie tickets and snacks for a 90 minute film, or 2 tickets for a 3 hour concert. Whereas a good $50 game can potentially net 100’s of hours of enjoyment.
I could go on and on, but I can’t fathom where a lot of people are coming from on this issue, so I honestly don’t understand why the debate even exists. The whole “game developer X is screwing us” mantra just seems absurb. It’s a luxury item, vote with your wallet and get on with your life. However, given some of the attitudes on the subject, you’d think a $40 refresh of a 9 month old game was the equivalent of oil-price fixing. Christ, most of the people bitching probably have a pair of pants that cost more than $40. How much development and skilled labor went into those? Did Levi’s screw you over when they added that 5th pocket?
Fuck You, Mega Man fucking MADE Capcom who they are so don’t go trying to deny his impact on gaming history just because your gay ass doesn’t like him, fucking idiot.
The serious players (pretty much anyone with an arcade stick) will cop this.
The casual players might wait, they have tons of games coming out in the fall, and probably got bodied in this game.
Then there’s the small group of angry players with really high standards that are good, but expect more and that just won’t cop it.
Huh? Oh! Haha, I can see how you read it that way. No, that’s not what I was trying to do.
I own and love Blazblue. I was mostly pointing out that the first release blew. That V13 shit was way more annoying to me than anything I’ve come across in MvC3. Hella frustrating and easier than anything in MvC3. Glad that crap’s gone in CS and CS2 (which rock, btw).
As for Tekken 6, I loved TTT and Tekken 5 (series). Haven’t played a lot of 6 though. Just haven’t had the time.
Sorry, I wasn’t trying to piss you off. I was knocking on BB, but not BBCS or CS2 =)
Honestly, it seems that online play is “the” issue that defines whether the player loves or hates MvC3. If the game is mainly played online, they usually hate it. Those that mainly play offline tend to love it. Nothing shocking here.
Oh, and you’re a ad hominem with a ad hominem and a big ad hominem and can’t ad hominem to save his soul! So there =P
It’s the life of games. They all get sequels. This one? Just got a super update. imo when I go to get it it’s going to feel like I’m buying a whole new game with the new mechanics and whatnot. Learning new combo’s, playing with new characters, NOT having to watch two ID cards hump each other in a lobby with my friends as they play and I sit their looking like a moron. And the feel of a new game for 40 bucks? I love it. It’s just my opinon though. i did buy Jill + Shuma and the costumes. (From trading in old games I don’t play, I was able to get 90 or so bucks. Spent 40 on points and got them without having to really lose any newfound money from my pockets. So when I get UMvC3 I’ll already have them in it.) So for me this game is already looking good and a new game feel for 40 bucks?
…Okay? Was that a weak-ass attempt at a burn? Quite retarded, aren’t you? I don’t really give a shit about Megaman, I never would’ve used him anyways. I understand why people want him in and everything but I don’t really care about him.
I would’ve preferred Juggernaut, Sigma, a new Darkstalkers rep like Jedah, Venom, Psylocke, and maybe a Power Stone rep. Would’ve been nice to have a Monster Hunter rep too. Ms. Marvel would’ve kicked ass.
Not all the characters are bad, Dr. Strange and Ghost Rider are pretty tight and I kinda like Firebrand, but the rest can go fuck themselves. There’s no way I’m paying more for fucking losers like Nemesis, Phoenix Wright and Frank.
