Would you pay $40 for a game with 12 characters and 8 stages?

Someone who is seemingly incapable of proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation should not be the one calling other morons.
Also this post is so full of scrub its ridiculous.

Sure it does. Buy it, or don’t. People who wanted to remain competitive would buy all DLC anyway to learn matchups.

This is a disingenuous argument. You don’t have to buy all DLC to remain competitive.

Good luck against those Phoenix Wright and Nova players in a tournament then.

I can play against people who use Shuma Gorath without downloading him myself.

Also: assumes tournaments. They are only a facet of the game, not the normal environment for play.

For what it’s worth, I’ll buy it. I’m just not going to buy until the new year.

Got way too many titles coming out later this year, that have more priority (to me) to pick up then this just yet.

And for the most part, I suck at MvC3, so I keep it casual. Might show to some tournaments to show some love…but I keep it casual. Like all things…it’s your money. No one (unless it’s for tournament) is making you buy the game. It’s you time, your leisure.

Are you guys seriously arguing for an entire page with someone who thinks arcade mvc2 had dedicated mp/mk buttons?

You get a much better understanding of matchups when you approach the character from both sides. Also being able to take things to the lab is important.

That’s probably true, but shouldn’t be used as the crux of justification in this argument. Your argument was that we should buy all DLC character content to remain competitive. I’m saying competition doesn’t factor into it. The choice in content is made for you. In the case of DLC I can choose to buy all, none, or only some.

But I’m not against the price of this disc - I’m against them releasing it without addressing the current game’s online problems in any form. Thereby forcing the consumer to pay an extra $40 for acceptable (assuming it is) online - even if they don’t want the characters and are fine with the gameplay of the regular game.

There wasn’t a send button… u know as well as I do that when it came to send, you had to know your character, there was a specific command for each character. the team ultra was never a 1 button press, you could alternate between buttons more than just a gradual l=h. I don’t hold those other buttons to that standard because they never changed their layout…mk… always 5 buttons(mainly) with the exception of 3 where run was added to speed the game up. Soul caliber always had 3 buttons, tekken always 4…changing the button scheme ruined it for me but I do love it… The part I don’t love is people putting it on simple when the button layout is already simple, and banging out a combo 100% combo online while getting rank … It was more technical

Yes, i would

and i have before.

Soul Calibur always had 3 buttons? I thought it was four. (Horizontal, Vertical, Kick and Block) Team Hyper Combos could be easily done in MvC2 by pretty Assist1 + Assist2 … ya know, the same way they do it in MvC3. You are seriously going to get bent out of shape that you now have a specific button for launcher instead of knowing on a character by character basis what does the launcher for that character? That’s about the silliest form of ‘depth’ a game can have. And if you are getting beat by a player using Simple Mode in MvC3, then either you need to step your game way up or that player is damn good, because Simple Mode limited your options to an insane degree.

Depends on the characters honestly

FUCKING AGREED

So many people fail to look past just the characters

i would pay $40 for a game with 50 chars. and 20 stages

Yes, DLC offers choice. I’m sure that has been mentioned before.

And when a TO doesn’t download your character by choice, you’ll have the audacity to complain.

Not you specifically but you get the point.

All I can say is…

Street Fighter 2 Champion, Hyper Fighting/Turbo, Super, ST
Street Fighter Alpha 2, Alpha2Gold, Alpha 3 (another Alpha 3 I forgot the name of)
Marvel Super Heroes
Darkstalkers 2, Darkstalkers 3
Marvel Vs Street Fighter, Marvel Vs Capcom 1, Marvel Vs Capcom 2
Capcom Vs SNK 2
Super Street Fighter 4, AE

No one was complaining about those sequels and here we are in 2011 supposedly getting a game with possibly the most user feedback response ever from customer to Capcom and people are like, “ok, I want this, I want this, I want that, I want that… wait… you want what? -_-”

On a side note, I don’t understand this mentality that people a) feel like they have to buy extras from vanilla to get the most out the game, b) feel like capcom made something that was so broken we deserve a free/almost free update though they were probably playing the game last weekend on their ps3/360 and c) how they don’t appreciate the effort that Capcom is putting in the game. So their first effort was priced at $60 and you bought it on day 1 expecting it to be worth it only to face disappointment. Well, guess what? If this is you, that’s your fault. You could have been a smarter consumer. You could have waited instead of pre-ordered and rented it since there’s usually nothing special being the first one to spend money on something brand new. You could have waited for reviews or watched one of the many live streams to begin an appraisal before spending money on it. If you feel like you spent the money because it’s Capcom, well… you suck on how you spend your money.

If money is such a big deal to you, then simply act like it instead of being sold and giving it up to what you feel is a Capcom charity fund. Reason why people will buy UMvC3 is because for the most part they now know what they are getting in to. I didn’t buy AE for the same reason. Hell, I have no problem saying I spent $60 to build a team around X-23 and if I happened to not like Marvel 3, then that’s on me. Fortunately, I enjoy this game very much and in spite of it’s shortcomings, it was worth every penny spent and time invested in it. I’m just saying, don’t blame Capcom because their hype sold you. People like that will buy anything.

You were just a fool… and a fool and his money are soon parted.

This is just the worst kind of blame the victim argument.

"Oh you thought the game would work the way they advertised it?

Sucker.

Now you’re mad that they want money for a feature that they said would work the first time?

That’s your fault for them tricking you the first time."

Come on, man.

You are going to have a challenging time explaining how Capcom used false advertisement for Marvel 3.

Well, I’m not trying to prove it legally - only colloquially.

They advertised online play on the box.

To expect the product to work at the current standard is a fair assessment of their pitch.

Only using Capcom product as example, they set a standard for themselves with SF4’s online. To expect that same standard with subsequent releases is reasonable.
