Would you mind waiting another year if Capcom could add 50+ characters?

Later release with more characters is a terrible idea.

Release less characters and make sure the game is good. You can have a new version the year after to add more characters and make game adjustments.

Holding off on a game that might not be good to add more characters is risky like going all in with an unknown hand.

Banking on a rehash is not a good idea, especially since you don’t know if sales will warrant a rehash. They should spend as much time needed to have a sizeable and reasonably balanced cast.

Yeah I’d wait another year for sure. Gives more time for not only more characters, but for more balancing too. SSFIV and SMG2 will keep me busy for a while!

Actually that’s wrong. It’s a lot easier to balance the less characters you have.

Are you always that incongruous?

Because you said mvc2 was the most balanced game of all time.

I see you’re still putting words in other people’s mouths.

How is that working out for you?

Ok then, Mvc2 is the most unbalanced game ever.

Good lord this is in the same hands of tvc crew.

Release the game then release DLC

I’d rather have more options per character than more characters.

When the annoucers says “FIGHT!” the other 53 characters mean nothing to me. However, the three I do have selected better have something awesome to back up my trash talk.

I understand why people want a large select screen. Your character choices are an expression of your personality and fighting style/philosophy. I just think that players are better off expressing themselves in game rather than with a roster. Playing a certain way will go miles further to differentiate your self from the pack than any colorful pixels you may have chosen before a fight.

So less characters, but with more options per character is my choice. I’d hate to have the “Tekken 2 Syndrome” of having a large cast, but every character is basically the same with a slightly modified moveset. Soul Calibur 1 disappointed me with that too. Why have Nightmare AND Sigfreid? The were the same!

The last thing MVC3 needs is another 10 versions of Ryu.

If by “Add 50+ characters” you mean add 50+ characters that wont ever excel past mid tier, then release the game now.
If you mean that they will add 50+(or hell, even 10-15+) tourney viable characters who are high/top tier, then sure take your time.

I’d rather give them another year to do it right then release some half assed BS roster, and have them bend us over with Super MvC3

the roster wont mean shit if the game plays like ass

Considering MVC2 is a terrible broken glitchfest, I think character roster has something to do with it.

I would wait five more years for this game to be in old school 2-d…thats just me…

but for the question at hand ya I would wait for this game to have a roster over 60…the more the merrier its marvel after all.

What this guy said.
20 from either side.
or how about 42 in total. with 1 fairly nasty sub boss type from either side and you fight it based on who makes up your team CVS2 style.

I want at least 36 , but no more than 42… I’ll take quality over quantity

20 is fine for me as long the mechanics is solid. I could careless about fan service. Fan service is not what defines a game for me.

I don’t understand why the the excessive fan base, when all likely hood any players will take time to learn only three to four characters. I hear people want variety with character but people seem to forget that your not just dealing with one but multiple’s of three so the diversity of cast and the fact their teams is an abundance of variety work with. Its unlikely to be situation where a person won’t find a single character to appeal to.

Also like some have said quality over quantity. With a fighting game such as this, its only a matter of time before we start getting clones characters. I don’t consider clones variety but simply stuffing.

SF may have 35 but 60% are clones of move set.

Characters quantity is not what decide the game but quality. People rave over the vs series for with its first installment that only have about 22 character with 2v2 set up and more limited mechanics and yet it had great success.

If they say more than 30 then you might as well round it to 33-35. If it were closer to 40 im sure they would have said 40 instead of 30, dont fall for the slick talk these developers give you.

As far as DLC, I say without a doubt, but again, what are the chances that they would actually give you any more than 2 or 3? I can hope for 10, but Im sure they would charge a pretty penny for them, which is senseless.

I dont want a SMvC3 in 10 months with 10 characters that should have been there in the beginning.

All I know is I really want Storm and Psylocke back. And I’ll probably only get one.

From a casual Marvel fans perspective, I personally want as many characters as possible. 50, 100, the more the better. I’m never going to play in a tournament, and I don’t care about picking top tier because it might me the best odds of winning… I play for fun and entertainment. The huge roster is and still was my favorite part of MvC2. Having more characters increases the chances that my favorite characters will be available for me to control. I could care less if sentinel top tier. Give me a low tier Mr. Sinister any day. I feel at the low-mid level of play most all characters are fairly balanced. It’s only when you get into top level play that the weakness’s and strengths of the characters really come out. So let us mortals have some fun in selecting our favorite characters from a massive roster. You guys can exploit the game and create that tourney level play still and be happy. I couldn’t imagine Madden leaving out the Browns, because they’re too low tier compared to the Saints. Anyways that’s my take.

There seems to be a disparity between the question in the topic and the question in the poll that may lead to inaccurate results.
That is to say that if my answer to one is “yes” then my answer to the other is “no.”
