Would you mind waiting another year if Capcom could add 50+ characters?

I got confused when I came in because of the thread title. xD

I do agree with some of the stuff being said here. No point in having 10+ character with the same playstyle. They should put a lot of variety in the roster. Don’t need 5 guys with fast slashing sword combos or 6 guys with a beam special. We don’t need much representation of the company franchise’s as much as we need representation of unique playstyles:

  • Rushdown
  • keepaway
  • flyers
  • grapplers
  • armored titans
  • joke character

If they can make as many characters as they can and have them all play differently, that’s an example of a good roster, no matter what characters are represented in it.

Eh, I would vote “take your time, do it right” except that implies that I want more characters.

I would rather have a smaller number of good characters that play differently than a large number of characters, the majority of which are unplayable or are clones of other characters.

I still want Capcom to take the time to do it right, even if that means a smaller cast.

Hence, I’m not voting.

If it ends up playing like MVC where everyone has a chance to win and is balanced then its possible the game will work out.

So I would not mind waiting as long as they have an answer for what they did wrong in the second game and still improving this version

I’m sorry…what?

Probably referring to the inbalance in MvC2. Certain characters (Cable, Senitnel, Storm etc.) are abused due to their superiority over most characters (Ryu, Zangief, Morrigan etc.)

No he wasn’t unless he has the worst wording ever. It sounds like he says everyone in MvC could win…which is wrong for BOTH MvCs.

ur probably right

I would wait another year or 2 if they were going to release a total of 40+ characters AND the game was really well balanced where damn near every character is viable in one way or another. I wouldn’t wait a year just to get 50+ characters only to have like 5 possible teams be truly viable.

MvC2 had a lot of characters, sure, but it also only had a very limited number of viable teams, and I don’t want to see that happen with MvC3.

The size of the roster is meaningless to me, if there is 30 fun to use solid characters that would be amazing. And given how reasonably balanced SSF4 is I have hope for this. I have seriously never seen a match of MVC2 that wasn’t sentinel, cable, magneto or cpt. commando as an assist and that’s about it. I’m not saying that the game isn’t fun because of this but diverse it isn’t. so yeah I’m not interested in a 56 character roster where like 20-30 of the character are around bottom tier. If they want to slowly add more characters I’m down with that. Hell I would pay for ssf4 characters too. And anyone that expects this game to have anymore than 35 characters is insane.

the fighting engine will be the most important aspect. this whole character count argument is retarded.50 characters in a game that sucks is gonna be a worse game than 30 in a game thats awesome. at least capcom is focusing on the fighting engine right now and not on making as many character cameos as possible

i fully expect downloadable characters. MvC is the type of game that BEGS for downloadable characters. I’d rather have a cast of 20-30 characters that are all fun to use and work well as well as being balanced than the chance of stretching it to 50 and making a large selection of unusable or godlike characters. MvC2 was basically a mix of 10-20 characters being used anyway. I’d rather have 30 instead and everything be balanced without 1000 pallet swaps, useless (roll) characters, and the like. I honestly don’t think even dan is necessary in this game as deadpool=comedic role (though those two battling would be interesting).

for me id rather it come out sooner and balanced and well made and then add the extra semi-useless characters as DLC later than wait for them to throw together 20 more characters. Now… if the issue was “game now and bad or game later and good” obviously later and good is better. But taking another year to add 10-20 characters? Mhee…

I care more about balanced play among characters than sheer number. I expect it will go the SF4 route where we see a follow up within a year where they balance out the initial pack and add a healthy number of new characters.

Thank You.

MvC2 doesn’t feel nearly as polished as MvC1. Not having endings for the characters stunk too~

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 was really just a complilation of the Versus series, As far as Marvel 3 is concerned, Capcom probably won’t delay it as the game is close to the March 2011 fiscal year. They did, however, skipped out last year by delaying Lost Planet 2 and Super IV and it literally costed them. I’m all for doing it and have it being released in time for the Holiday or January i.e. Tatsunoku Vs Capcom Ultimate All-Stars. They need to bring back the ability to build meter by whiffing/missing attacks as the matches were hardly ever concluded by either player.

What the hell are people complaining about character endings not being in MvC2 for? Who cares? It’s a fighting game and 90% of the characters have more stories written about them than World War I. Here’s an ending for you, go read an X-Men comic book. I hope Capcom doesn’t put in endings, that’s more time they are working on something that is not the actual game. See an ending once you’ve seen it a million times, am I right? It’s not Final Fantasy it’s Marvel. Main Menu-> Vs Mode -> Character Select -> Fight.

Anyways back to the topic at hand. More characters are cool but even better is a good engine. Take all the time you need to get it right Capcom, the only thing worse than a late game is one that is rushed and ends up shitty.

as long as there were some great characters & some balance. We’ve waited this long since MvC 2. There were 56 characters in that one & you only see 10 used in all of the tournaments. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nah, i couldnt wait however i am hoping that the roster at least hits 40 then they can dlc the rest.
