Would you be opposed to every character getting an air dash?

Seriously, what the fuck happened to SRK?

Where’d these fucking idiots come from Jin?

I want airdashes for everyone.

Higher Voltage? Smash Boards? MugenBR?

I don’t know. Try all of the above.

this shit is not guilty gear, not everyone needs an air dash. theres other ways to implement mobility besides giving everyone an air dash and double jump.

besides, characters did fine without air dashes pre-mvc2. even in mvc2, certain characters did well with no air dash (sentinel, spiral, strider, cable)

just imagine what wolverine could do with an air dash. hes already super fast on the ground and even in the air. last thing you want is him air dashing around into that dive kick into combo into oblivion.

that air tech shit needs to go also. stop trying to make every air combo happy game into guilty gear and go back to the marvel roots.

  • Sentinel’s flight is fulltime 8-way airdash
  • Spiral has an instant multidirectional teleport
  • Strider has a double jump and an offensive teleport
  • Cable is f*cking Cable; give any character AHVB and I’m sure they will do just fine without airdashes

Except that they nerfed the f*ck out of his divekick (and any other divekick that does not belong to somebody named Rogue), which is (part of) why he sucks in MVC2.

Wolvie doesn’t need an airdash, but he does need his divekick back. So does Thanos (not that there is a chance in hell of him being in MVC3).

PLZ give strider orbs and an air dash. He’ll be best character easy.

Any opinion on this is premature.

Mobility was very important in MVC2 because you could call assists quickly, had two of them, and could choose from 3 different ones for each character. Combining all those things meant that characters without mobility were very susceptible to traps and lockdowns and were not able to take advantage of assist setups on offense.

We know nothing about how MVC3 plays. They haven’t even said whether it’s 3 on 3 or 2 on 2! If it’s very similar to MVC2 then most characters need decent mobility options of some sort. But it could also turn out to have weaker assists in which case it’s not as big a concern.

Capcom did announce it was 3v3…

Where have you been hiding?

Exactly, Giving everyone an air dash just seems dumb. I would still play the game if it existed, but I much prefer different upsides and downsides to characters. Wolverine Nearly dominated in MvC1 without one.

Might as well give every character a projectile and the ability to fly if you give them all air dashing abilities. If you are going to give them something, I wouldn’t mind every character having a double jump, but at the same time that’s why I enjoy picking CA and Strider once in a while.

i’m opposed to everyone having an airdash because it would make WAY more characters viable, which would make it hard to learn all the matchups! just think of like 50 viable characters with various assist possibilities…it would be almost impossible to learn that many matchups. there would be an infinite number of combinations.

my post was a joke…=\ which is why i put the smiley face in there.

im not a canon whore by any means lol i just want thor in it and to be great because im a thor fanboy

I don’t know if you’re being sarcastic or not, but laziness is not an excuse =/ Besides, more viable characters means more fun for everyone, right?

And you guys arguing canon over a dream match…you make my brain hurt…I agree on not giving everyone 8-way/flight/what have you but we can AT LEAST give them short hop/air dash. With air dash being the preferable option because after some thought short hop is more a SNK thing.Which isn’t bad at all, just not Capcom’s style.

its going to be a long year…

i definitely want more viable characters, but i agree with everyone else about giving characters other attributes to make them competitive (instead of air dashes).

Having Airdashes for MvC3 for everyone would be absolutely fine, just so long as not everyone is sported with 8-Way jumps too. However having Forward/Backward Dashes and double jumps as a universal option for every available character would not devalue the character diversity of how they would be played. Even if Ryu gets airdashes he’s not all of a sudden going to be playing “similar” to Storm, that’s ridiculous.

Also, I agree, MvC3 is new and we may not know how it’s played, however nearly every single Marvel vs game, having a good Air Options has always been a significant plus, and for some characters allowed them to dominate and decimate other characters who simply couldn’t get out. MvC2 the last installment is a prime example, playing as Ryu up against the Top characters was a death wish, simply because you couldn’t get out of any of the shit they could throw at you, and there would have been many situations in which just simply having air dashes would have helped you go on the offensive to apply more pressure or simply to get out and stay alive safely.

I don’t see why we try to use “their real counterpart logics” into not having airdashes, that’s a terrible excuse here. It won’t stale the character diversity of how they are played, and it won’t water down the strategical aspects of it either. However I will conclude this, I would like for their to be an improvement on the ground game for MvC3, so that not every single character will have to take to the air in order to dominate you. To me, it would be great to have characters who would make you fear to just simply stand on the ground for a second in fear of being put into lockdowns or barrages or offensive pressures with overheads that would frustrate you to no end.

Universal Airdashes Please, plus better ground game tactics for MvC3 ='s Win, Win.

exactly.

so are you agreeing with me or not?

I’m fairly certain that Capcom won’t be re-using old moves in their entirety.I would not expect even the old characters to adhere to their former incarnations at all. So while we’re getting new attributes either way, why not up the character’s chances of being viable by giving them the air dash?

The only and most obvious example is the Shinkuu Hadouken. The beam has far more vertical range than it does in Marvel, that will help Ryu out at least a little.

Besides, it’s like Higher-Jin said. Capcom is great at making fighting games but sort of shitty at balancing them well. They’d likely opt for the ‘lazy’ route of making air dashes universal anyways. Shit, their ‘balancing’ was what made Marvel 2 what it was in the first place, they heavily nerfed a lot of the cast from their prior incarnations while neglecting to nerf the three of the big four that were in versus games before. I mean, it worked somehow, but still…

every character should have either an air dash or a double jump… both would be ok i guess… maybe to much… but having at least one or the other ALWAYS makes that character much more competitive.

If mobility is an issue in the new game, then I’d be fine with air dashes for everyone, provided that not everyone has the same kind of airdash. Also, I agree that things like 3x jump, 8way airdash should not be given to everyone.

Airdash would be fine, it’s not like everyone needs and would get the fastest, longest range airdash in the history of gaming which is what some people seem to expect here.

People talk about it not being Mahval, but was MvC2 just more of the same MvC1? Was MvC1 more of the same X-men vs Street Fighter?
Last time I checked the name of the game being announced was MvC3 not Super MvC2 or MvC2 Second Impact.
