no weakness
i’m not burning any bridges. i don’t even know that guy. he just came in and said “just do a haduken and you’ll beat them hur hur”
i’m just sayin… the more hate Joe has for me the better!!! bring it on!!! but i think i’ll play a little more santhrax and revRow after he starts in his invinciCable mode where he is magically still playing at top level at 6am
lmao. thnx for the advice since you know exactly what i am thinking. trial and error better learned? ok. have fun
on another note, regarding something RyanC posted in response to the c.lk, c.mk + psy with mag:
use this as your variation foundation. if your goal is to get in, once you finally do get in, do less. most cable players expect you to do more and open up your own holes for them to capitalize on. you do all that work to get in and c.lk, c.mk + psy which they block low to and then your blocked psy pushes them away from you. vary it up:
c.lk, pause, walk up, c.lk, c.mk + psy
c.lk, pause, walk up, c.lk, c.hk (bait), pause, call psy to punish reactions
c.lk, pause, jump XX AD/F + psy
c.lk, pause, trijump and overhead other side
c.lk, pause, jump, AD/D sj.lk…
c.lk, pause, hp/hk throw (i usually do hp, but if i didn’t already have this habit would use hk to at least have the chance to respond to a saferoll)
you have other options that are all opened up by patience. keep your cool and good luck. if your friend or the guy you are playing is open to blocking in mvc2 then you have a chance to work some stuff vs his expectations to your attacks. if he is not the blocking type, then after your c.lk wait and see what he does. if he is in the frantic mode, he will likely do ub.j.hp or something of that sort. frantic cables have more holes, just make sure you don’t make any extra of your own
Yes, I’m physic lol. And I’m having loads of fun figuring out stuff in Marvel.
I’m surprised no-one has brought up clockwork in this thread. Doesn’t that team do well against MSP?
It would depend on who’s playing Clockwork and who’s playing MSP and the variables that make each team work the way that they do. You can counter call Doom with Storm but risk HSF. Or if you’re really good you can sj the HSF and ad to the otherside, snap out Sentinel for Strider, guard break Strider or rush down Strider. Striders weakness is that he does not take damage well, so if Mags can rush Strider down, he can possibly have a free guard break on Sent. and etc… I don’t know too much about Clockwork, but from the matches I’ve watched, most good Clockwork teams will work to zone MSP and take chip damage with Doom. If Clockwork can manage to corner MSP, MSP risks a HSF XX orbs and then nasty things start to happen. This is all theoritical of course… I get owned by Clockwork all the time. Risu told me about some Clockwork beast at Final Round last year, and how he could barely touch him.
To me there are two solution and the first one is simple start storm. It will allow you more air mobility to avoid his attacks. And the second one is dash in and block dooms assist call psy to keep doom busy and then rush. If he wants to blow his load on psy let him just dont be dumb enough to do it with 3 levels. This way you can rush without the fear of losing a character to ahvb
I’ll try that out. tho doom is rarely in my face. He is normally way across the screen with Cable throwing his unlimited supply of grenades and shooting his bullets. But when he tries to cross me up by calling doom and jumping away i’ll call Psy and contnue rushing to see if i can increase pressure that way. Oh and Joe will shoot Psy all the time whenever he has a chance. he actually has assist kill combos for when he catches her just like top level players. Man he really hates her.
He is a runner… not a blocker. if i can get decent pressure on him then i can get past his defense. Those mind games you mentioned above tho… GOLDEN. That is going in my permanent Marvel strategy. i did c.lk wait c.lk c.mk psy. but not some of those others. They will definitely help. So thanx for the shortcut on those.
He is definitely a runner. Against Magnus its better to evade and counterattack, because if you let em rush you down you will get hit by something. No one can see and correctly block all your ish 100% of the time, and we both know one hit = death.
How did it go yesterday?
it went better. I beat that Cable/BH/Doom team more than i lost to it. But then Joe quickly announced that he was waiting on your stick to turn into super joe/cable mode. but yeah the advice i got here was vital. i had to watch what he did more and adapt to it so that i could break the cycle and close the gap. after i get there its all execution. so on to training mode. that megaman/cable/ tron team is a problem tho. i’ll start studying them next so i can shore up any other holes in my matchups.
megaman\cable ron can be very hard to approach but it basically boils down like this.
If you let megaman live to long, he will build bar for cable. cable with 3-5 bars is a problem.
The trick is to kill megaman quickly without getting killed yourself. You want to kill him fast so cable gets in with very little bar taking away that particular game plan. However, there’s a difference between going for the kill and actually setting it up. Going for it blindly will only get yourself killed. You have to move in tight sectors to make megaman guess wrong with tron once, then sneak in and cut his throat.
above all things, plz respect megaman. If you show him no respect, you’ll only die w\ in a matter of seconds. Being cautious to his good shit will let you move safer.
and just for notes, iirc, megamans jab is 1 frame everywhere. Crouching, standing and jump. He basically has 1 button that can beat any characters and its pretty crucial to take his j.lp into account. If you’re floating around him with mag\storm\ or xxx, he can j.jab+tron, j.fp and depending on the angle, it’ll fucking combo. Trust me, you don’t want that. His opener is also fucking god like seeing how its 1 frame and hits jumpers. Just let him get his opener and then get to work.
Shoultzula: Good shit.
RyanC: I assumed as much (about waiting for my arcade stick)
Judge: How about some good match openers? That, and why do people do s lp+Psy slk snap? Doesn’t that lose to clk+Psy clk? Does it catch jumpers or something?
it catches jumpers
j.lk (or lp)+psy adf I like. if they stay on the ground, u will crossover (may or may not block…but if they stayed on the ground, chances are they did a move, so they’ll get hit), if they tried to do a triangle jump or did a jumping attack a bit later than yours, the lk (or lp) and psylocke will combo. you will still dash, but can still combo with OTG once you land
with switch glitch, especially if I don’t have a quick psy-like AAA (like doom…) I switch glitch 1 low
if they block, I have had a lot of success with immediate tj lk land cr.lk launch, but you can do other stuff like nj, assist, adf and shit (chances are, hey were expecting the second lk, so you can do a bit)
if they go in the air you block he triangle jump or the crossover (it all depends on your reactionary speed, but I was able to get the lk out, then block both triangle jumps and crossovers)
if you see it hit, and can react, then tack on a launch.
try it out, may help you work on reactionary speed
storm/sent/psy and IM/sent/psy seems a nightmare for mags…you almost need to play cable or sent against the IM team…
Thanks Beats. Does Learnslow still play MSS-A? I just want to know what I’m up against when he comes down here in February.
We already know what the deal is with you and TonyK
RyanC: Looks like its back to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Frieza, Cell and Buu will be here soon…
Who knew my problem with MSP would grow into a full thread of knowledge and noob bashing.
shout- good stuff. i was mad that i couldn’t do anything to MM at the start of the match. i just have to stay close. I will put all that into practice as well. Good lookin out man.
Ray- yeah… i’m trying to get my skills up. I know whatever i do won’t be enough but i have to do as much as i can with my execution in practice mode for when i do get that hit. what days are you off this week. i have a temporary spot we can play and do some advanced tactics that is close to where i used to live. PM me
short short Psy people- me and Joe laughed outloud in real life when we were playing and i got past his assist and did <dash in- short short Psy> and proceeded to kill his BH. I think i’m starting to understand this … power… just a little. i need more time with it i think.
Beats- as always thx for the knowledge
marvel guy asking for help - now i hate to say i told you so. but i told you so. im effing awesome at marvel.
kunimitsu
partner her up with a good tag combo partner ie bruce/mishima/ogres/changs
continue to dance around d1+2 d3+4 at safe distances while nipping at opponents shins with d4s. once you annoy opponent enough throw in df2~5s. this is the basic of kuni. ALSO if your opponent has a sliver of life left, you must and this is crucial, YOU MUST KILL OPPONENT WITH KUNAI MURDER [db2]
some kuni fun. if you ever land a f3+4 [which you should] after the hit ssr f3+4 again or ssr d3+4 or ssr 1+2. you get to REALLY mess around with the camera angles which is good times.
overall just d4 and df2~5 for 40% red bar and youll do fine
bronson
:u: what about a kuni v kuni mirror? i hate those. tt is so dope
:u: sarcasm man, u trippin. anyway, i’m running through the marvel char specific threads today (prolly in like in an hour) and going to add to ecz’s thread some general info as best i can
:u: judge: when do you plan on making the thread about limiting the calls of the assists?
MSP’s worst match up is a better MSP :looney:
And Reverse Row… -_-
lol.
Ray: Derek plays a bit of everything. yeah he does play MSS for a bit, sometimes goes on to santhrax, and sometimes resorts to MSP if need be for long runs. I think he’ll prolly use Thrax for the tourney but who knows.
hey…are you calling me Buu!? lol I hope it’s majin buu or something…though I do like chocolate…though I guess power level wise I’d be frieza…
