The most recent terrible movie I’ve seen would have to be Die Hard 5. Not only is it a bad movie, which I wasted money on. But it’s an abysmal Die Hard film. It doesn’t even deserve to be associated with 4. That’s just rubbing salt in the wound. Awful movie, just awful. I got played by the studio execs, hook line and sinker. They KNEW I’ve been a die hard fan since adolescence. They KNEW I’d pay cold hard cash to see it in a heartbeat. I don’t blame Die Hard, I blame the Hollywood hot shots who thought adding in John McClane and re-titling the movie would be a good idea. I got baited and fell for it big time. Fuck off, Die Hard 5.
Live actin DBZ film is pretty high up there too.
Dude, I said I liked the movies, never did I say they were “good”. The 3 Ninjas movies were either So Okay, It’s Average or So Bad It’s Good. The one with Hulk Hogan is a unenjoyable piece of shit that also features Loni Anderson in a leather outfit. The terrible special effects and bad ending didn’t help. I have yet to see anyone defend that movie. I also know the same director of that movie also went to make another cinema abomination known as the Bratz movie.
Oh, and don’t list movies on the basis that “so and so critic said so”. Just because Nostalgia Critic, Spoony One, Cinema Snob or any other caustic critic say it’s bad doesn’t mean it’s bad. Form your own opinion
On a side note, I remember seeing that awful 2010 Nightmare On Elm Street Remake in the theater. I had a good time not because the movie was good, but because I was fucking stoned out of my mind and laughing at the stupid shit this movie presented. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one. I heard people cracking jokes and riffing through the whole movie
Edit: Ah, what am I saying. None of the movies I listed are even the worst movies I saw. The Box was confusing and I fell asleep from it, but I have seen worse. Into The Blue pissed me off, but I have seen worse. The worst movie I have ever seen was Righteous Kill. The trailer looked promising too. How do you take a movie where Robert Deniro and Al Pacino have scenes together for most of the movie unlike Heat and fuck it up?
*A Serbian Film is far and away the worst movie I ever seen. Complete and utter Garbage. The rolls of film be trashed and it’s existence erased from history. *
A Serbian Film was awesome. Fuck you!
in the name of the king: a dungeon siege tail
Fuck you Uwe Boll
A Serbian Film was awesome. Fuck you!
*No fucking way, that movie was grade A TRASH. Shock for shock sake and does all this grotesque shit because it can with no type of artistic merit or messages hidden there. I felt the same way about Irreversable at first but that movie is actually legit good. It uses similar elements of shock and awe but it actually tells a good story and visits some interesting places thematically. A Serbian Film is “How grotesque can we be and how much can we make people uncomfortable and throw this shit at them”.
Just trash. Why do you like it?

Some films are meant to disturbing. It’s a valid form of expression and Serbian Film was well made and had that impact. Maybe a little ott in terms of skull-fucking but otherwise a fantastic nihilistic experience. God forbid a film should actually live up to it’s intent to disturb and do somethign different. You’d probably hate Schindler’s List because it’s too depressing.
Comment removed.
*I liked Schindlers list, it’s a good depiction of a time in history, intriguing characters, good acting and it’s shot well amongst other things. A Serbian Film has no such achievement or aim other than “Lets try to be as provocative and shocking as we can” with no other drive or merit. I clearly understand it’s aim and there I totally get the premise but there is a difference when you deliver it in such a tasteless, amatuerish way which Serbian film clearly was. Right down to the comedic spot with the dildo at the end which I suppose was to remind the viewer to take everything in the film lightly and just as entertainment but it had the exact opposite effect.
It made the director appear as a juvenile kid reveling in his own sense of accomplishment by having some fun with a scene but in reality he came off as someone who didn’t grasp the gravitas the film had already set. He tried to take the weight down and lighten the mood but in reality he appeared to be making light of to that point which was in bad taste. Which sums up the entire movie: It’s in bad taste. Even the characters which is supposed to keep the entire movie humming along is paper thin. Even the standout character (the brother) has a superficial reason for being the orchestrator of the events.
I understand the aim of trying to be shocking and provocative but the execution was weak and made everything seem like a tasteless joke and like a dilettantes attempt at making a shock flick. There’s other masterfully done shocksploitation films like Irreversible, Ichi the Killer, hostel, and Audition. *
I can’t stand those shock horror movies. Don’t really understand the appeal.
Not hating people that do like them, but it’s too much for me.
Hostel? Personally I was never into the “torture porn” sub genre of horror movies like Hostel or Saw, but if you’re into those kind of movies then more power to you
*If they’re done right then they have more going for them than just shock and awe. Saw (at least the first one) had a lot more elements in it than just torture. It had a claustrophobic setting, it had good acting, solid twisting story that explored the characters background and a good cat and mouse game trying to catch Jigsaw. While I do like me some movies/books/shows that focus on the psychological side of characters and life I’m not much of fan of shockploitation (or horror in general). I however can acknowledge (and sometimes admire) the craftsmanship & execution that fall in that genre when they’re doing more than just trying to elicit a cringing response from the audience.
Some shockploitation movies do go the route where it’s not all about blood, gore and trying to depict something that’s unsettling just for fucks sake. Where it’s either a undercurrent or subtle subtext about themes other than shallow exhibition of depravity and wretched acts. Coincidentally one of the reasons why A Clockwork Orange is one of my favorite films of all time is due to the fact that it challenges the viewer. It takes a great look (some would say deconstructs) the ideas of the link between arousal, violence, free will, morality and the nature of man. At the time it was released it was classified as a shock film if i’m not mistaken even though today it is a classic and looked at in a much different light.
And Hosel was aight, I mainly threw it in there because it was one of the movies that came to my mind first. Certainly not a movie I love or particularly liked but it was made much better than A Serbian Film. *
I can appreciate a difference of opinion but to call Serbian Film amateurish and poorly made just tells me that you haven’t seen a lot of films. It’s a very well made film, great camera work, cinematography, acting, effects, etc. So on a production level it is well made. I think it definitely had a point; it wanted to explore humanities darker instincts and was an untimely meditation on sex, violence, and society much the same as the Nekromantik films.
Shit on it all you want but it isn’t poorly made and lacks a point. For a film that is either poorly made or lacks a point (or any kind of substance for that matter) I would humbly recommend you watch any of those August Underground films or Murder-Set-Pieces.
There’s a lot but the first one that comes to mind is Green Lantern. Sorry DC fans.

*If you read what I posted I wasn’t referring to the cinematography or the production side of things being amatuerish but rather the execution of a idea, themes and writing or a lack there of in my opinion. Personally I’m not much of a stickler for production and can overlook that side of things, and I do have my hypocritical moments of guilty pleasures like Boondock Saints. It’s not that I don’t pay attention to and like cinematagraphy and camera work in general because I do specially in period pieces but it’s not something that I fervently lament about if it’s sub par or mediocre. In that reguard I think that’s where we might categorize a film as being “insufferable” in different ways.
I disagree with your assertion that those were the themes it was trying to ruminate on or explore. With that said I’ll check out the films you suggested and I’d like you to shoot me a pm on your full thoughts of A Serbian Film. I still believe that the characters are piss poor. The only connection I MIGHT make is the brother being a symbol for the Serbian Government fucking over it’s people. Even then I think that’s me being extremely facetious. Anywho I’ll read your thoughts either way since you’re just about the only person I know who actually likes the film. *
A Serbian Film was awesome. Fuck you!
agree
it has legit shock factor that will get to anyone even though its JUST a movie. ASF is one of the best if anything(IMO)
