fuerte vs rufus is 7-3 rufus at the very least
viper vs honda, id say 7-3 honda
seth vs zangief isnt that bad really, id say 6-4 seth. gief just has to prevent seth from getting out of the corner, which isnt that hard

Not at all.
6/4 Sagat.
Sabre all I have to say is you’re the man for dropping that knowledge about demon flip dive kick beating crouching fierce clean. I love you man.
lol I love these kind of answers to anything game balence related or match ups specifics.
oh yes, how could anyone ever think that game balence has anything to do with matchups?
I bet you are a magical player or even magical players exist who could win with a character that has the worst normals in the game; slower by half then the worst character now with the worst hit boxes, no specials or ulta combos and the super slow speed and poor dash. I bet that character would be seen in all the tornaments and would be the sol winner every time right?
give me a break. I am seriously. lets never forget that skill is essential but lets also never forget that there is such a thing as advantage and disadvantage as it relates to tier and matchup specifics to idealistic fool.
gief vs seth by far. No other matchup is even close. I’ve played people who ragequit at the loading screen the moment they realize I picked Seth.
Have you tried the Abel vs Gief matchup?
Cause that is pretty horrible too. Many skilled Abel and Gief players seem to agree it is probably as bad as 7:3 in Gief’s favor.
stupidety hafe no borders there are of cours bad matchups like Abel Vs Gief or Gief Vs Viper but Seth is unbeatable you can not corner him or get close unless he make a BIG mistake^^and even then he hafe a 2. chanze… its honestly a 2 times perfekt for seth zangief can not even touch him once if played correktly
Say hit me up tonight so you can show me y its such a bad match up… Gamer tag is (Mvc2 sucks) I play gief
Holy shit that was sad.
it’s not sad, it’s not like Iyo counter pick. Iyo also make alot of high lvl sagat look bad too. Blanka vs Dhalsim is not as bad as Seth vs gief.
blanka vs gief
Sakura vs SF4
Face
Indeed. This matchup makes me want to hit myself over the head with a frying pan. One of, if not the worst matchups fo sho.
Ball offensively? You can’t ball PERIOD.
Balrog can punish ball at any range no matter if you use jab, strong or fierce ball. The only way to do ball without getting punished from Balrog is if you hop in back of him and Up Ball. If you do that, he won’t have a charge to dash punch and punish you with.
Ah yes, my mistake. I missed the I in Ken I. I’ve heard of Ken I. But again, Rufus vs. Blanka is 5-5. I am talking specifically about his match vs. Rog. And no one talks about how crouching jab just wrecks Blankas EVERYTHING. It even anti airs him sometimes. That may be more of an issue then Blanka ball getting punished on hit and block.
I am not saying there is no way X character can win against Y character. That wasn’t the point. I am trying to see what people think as to what the worse mismatch is.
The fact that you have to use different tactics than usual doesn’t equal a horrible matchup. Shotos and Gief screw with Rufus’ whole divekick game, but they’re still no worse than 6-4. Blanka is the same thing: If you approach him aggressively with Rufus, you will get balled to hell and back. And yet, that’s a 5-5.
The strange thing about SF4 is it has to be the only game where the scrubs make a BIGGER deal out of tiers than the pros (who the tiers actually effect) do. Look at most other games and scrubs are like “tiers don’t exist!!!”. In SF4 even a person who has been playing for a couple months wants to look at the tier lists for their excuse to why they’re losing.
Let me repeat: THE TIERS AND MATCHUPS DO NOT AFFECT YOU UNLESS YOU’RE PLAYING AT A PROFESSIONAL LEVEL.
That’s why I find it quite ironic that an 09er is telling players who actually know what they’re talking about that they’re fools for saying not to cry over something as small as a 6-4 matchup.
I am seriously.
Thank you Campbell.

I mean, the matchup is hard. It’s not unwinnable, but it’s fucking hard.
Darn, took the one I was thinking of.
Though, I can often manage to score at least one round against Sagat with my Fei
Winning a whole match though, definitely a challenge.
As a Seth and Zangief player, I disagree with you vehemently. Even if Seth backs himself into the corner, Zangief still has a very difficult time landing that all-important knockdown between well-spaced booms, pokes, and dragon punches. Seth can also jump back repeatedly to goad Zangief into jumping at the wrong time, giving Seth an opportunity to walljump and pogo over his head before he has time to jump again and headbutt.
Arturo believes it’s 7-3, and I still think he’s being conservative. In my opinion, Seth-Zangief is the only 8-2 matchup in the game.
Actually, tiers change depending on the level the game’s played at. On the scrub VS scrub level, Giefs will find themselves befuddled by fireballers and get lots of free wins versus everyone else who doesn’t know that Lariat is one of the most high-priority attacks in the game on startup. Blankas will kick Rufus players’ asses, and Akuma will get lots of free wins just by air-fireballing. Ken is near-top tier on a scrub level thanks to FP Shoryu, and Ryu will kill Rufus to hell and back just by spamming LP Shoryukens.
On the intermediate level, where you know not to keep jumping in on Shotos and dash under air fireballs and sweep after a certain point on Lariats and punish blocked Blankaballs, tiers change as well as mattering less. They still do matter, though: As a not-bad-but-far-from-pro Rufus player, I can definitely tell you that some matchups are easier than others.
Of course, “proper” tier lists are meant to reflect two equally skilled players who know the ins and outs of both characters. In other words, tournament level. So yeah, a whole lot of the 6-4 matchups won’t matter to most.
