Ball offensively? You can’t ball PERIOD.

Balrog can punish ball at any range no matter if you use jab, strong or fierce ball. The only way to do ball without getting punished from Balrog is if you hop in back of him and Up Ball. If you do that, he won’t have a charge to dash punch and punish you with.

Ah yes, my mistake. I missed the I in Ken I. I’ve heard of Ken I. But again, Rufus vs. Blanka is 5-5. I am talking specifically about his match vs. Rog. And no one talks about how crouching jab just wrecks Blankas EVERYTHING. It even anti airs him sometimes. That may be more of an issue then Blanka ball getting punished on hit and block.

You read the Blanka forum right? There are some pretty decent strats in there regarding Rog, and you can most definitely ball without getting punished, in the right situations. Also, at the right range, st. strong can beat/trade with Rog’s cr. jab. Same with st. fierce, and even cr. strong sometimes!

I just feel like you’ve already given up on the matchup and haven’t tried to be more creative or experiment to get better at it.

Sagat vs Fei is so far from unwinnable, it’s ridiculous it’s even being discussed. It’s probably close to 5.5-4.5 for Sagat. In fact, I don’t think Fei has a matchup worse than 6-4 in this game.

I’d give the vote to Gief/Seth, with Abel/Gief taking second place.

Sakura also seems to have tough matchups against Rog and Blanka. Didn’t know she had such a hard time with Akuma.

Thanks for the strageties. I am always trying to improve my game and I will look into all that stuff. I know crouching jab beats EVERYTHING Blanka has up close and spacing out my footsie is what should be done. But you don’t know me so please don’t tell me what I have given up on. I just said that I’m not saying any match is impossible. I am saying that this match is certainly a 7-3 match though. Don’t assume anything. And I understand that there are a few situations where ball can not be punished. I’m stating that the situation that YOU posted is not one of them. The one I posted is. Thanks again and peace out.

I personally don’t think Balrog 7-3’s many characters in the game. Like Sabin said…Americans are lazy or just don’t see it’s worth the effort to run through bad matchups. Which overall lessens our play IMO since we’re just looking for the easy way out instead of honing our reactions with the characters we use. Even if they aren’t lazy more than one match in tournaments means you might as well just pick a better character. Japanese Blankas vs. American Blankas is a huge testament to how lazy US Blankas are vs. Japanese ones. Shit is almost night and day minus 2 or 3 US players (including my boy MOD who was in Japan for almost 2 years).

Other stuff.

Abel vs Gief really isn’t that bad…if you don’t get knocked down. But if you play the match and learn from it, it teaches you to just play Abel at his bare minimum. Sneak in a TT somewhere and you can win. If you have a solid defense and know exactly what to look for I would say the match could be 4.5 / 5.5 for Abel. Maybe even 5/5, but Gief’s damage output forces me not to say it CAN be 5/5 because its just not “possible”.

Usually I wouldn’t watch that, but the announcers make it pretty funny. I love how they go crazy at the end.
