Might as well work for 2002um to be there instead then. You might say “it has to be a ps3 fighting game” but I have a feeling Tatsunoko vs Capcom(not saying I even remotely like this game) has a better chance of being in the line-up than KOF12.
That is the problem, PS2 is getting phased out slowly every year. Next year will be the biggest phase of all if 3rd strike does not come back. Then the message will be clear.
Most younger players do not even have access to 2k2 um. Import is hard to push mainly with the system that is supporting it starting to be phased out.
2002um is getting released on 360 XBLA next year so there’s that, the problem is will it be released Stateside? and will EVO allow the use of 360’s? they’re PS3 exclusive IIRC…
PS3 is the push. If 2k2:UM is 360 it’s chances are low along with a shakey U.S.A release presents a whole new basket of hurtles to jump. HD is also looking as if it is on one leg because the 360 version is better. They are going for symmetrical line-up with games and system effectiveness across the board.
Only reason I would choose KOF XII is because I can barely find any interesting match videos for it. Other than that, KOF2002UM all the way.
Combo master. Your presence is most welcome.
I really want to see SNK at EVO and I feel with KOF XII if we come together it will open more doors to other KOFs as well.
No, I’m not the one hurting the KOF community.
SNK themselves killed the community, along with any chance of KOF ever getting mainstream acceptance when they totally botched KOF XII. I’m not even talking about the gameplay and engine (which I personally hate, but recognize others may like), but the marketing, the execution of the port, the timing, the netcode, the retail product, and how Mr. Wiz and EVO reached out to SNK Playmore in order to feature XII at EVO last year and how SNKP totally ignored them.
They handled every single aspect of the release in the worst way possible, and they don’t deserve to be rewarded with any kind of support.
So you want SNK to die. Thank you shiki.
That’s not what I said at all.
You’re only reading what you want to read, apparently.
You want people to play 2k2:UM. Thank you shiki.
Yeah, sure. I also want everybody to play all the SNK games they want.
I don’t recall you entering a single SNK tournament at Final Round in these past couple of years, when I was promoting, helping run, and entering just about everything I could to support the scene.
You didn’t even enter SS2 last year, and I know you love that game more than life itself.
But yeah, I guess that’s because I’m the one who doesn’t care about anything but one game and wants everything else to die.
Jan 23, 2010 Gamefrog Tournament in Durham, North Carolina. In my sig the first game is KOF XII. I am a tournament organizer and I support SNK. Trying to stab at me for not entering games that people do not want to even support at home is low. I expect more from you.
I’m not trying to insult you in any way. We all like what we like.
The problem with the SNK community is that there’s basically no one supporting what they DON’T like. The community is way too splintered for people to pick and choose what games they want to feature. People will say what they will about Dark Geese, but at least the dude showed love and support for EVERYTHING.
People have said far too often (now and in the past) that people in the SNK scene don’t want to support games like NGBC or SSTenka or 2002UM and from the things I’ve SEEN AND EXPERIENCED in person, I know that’s not true.
Most of the EVO organizers have said repeatedly that they do not enjoy 3rd Strike, but supported the game throughout its lifespan.
I don’t personally care for Garou anymore, but last year I supported and helped run the Garou tournament at Final Round and I enjoyed watching some pretty solid matches and tournament play.
So before you cast doubt on whether there is a demand for a game or not, try to put aside personal bias and make sure you are judging clearly and fairly.
Well do it your way and how you like it. Do what you want.
To be ontopic, worst KOFs IMO is probably um… 94 (even though I started with this), 99, 2001 and MI.
96 was very fast at that time. We came from 95 so the change was big.
I agree with stun system, specially when facing Chizuru and her d+C upper.
Other thing I didn’t like was controls for grabbers. For some reason if you were playing in sticks with no good calibration, grabs were impossible to input, you had to make the motion very slow and pointed, but with those same joystick playing for example 97, you could see the difference.
I play with a sanwa stick and 96 is the only game i cant do the throw with clark and ralf (at least not always).
It’s for this reason that i dont play Clark anymore there… Ralf is still ok, but Clark without throw is quite useless…
And the stun… pretty bad too.
The Orochi Complete Saga has got to be the worst down to nothing more than its terrible ports of the games. I say 2001 is my actualy least favourite KOF so it can take the honours for being the worst
i hope u re talking about the PAL and US version. The Jap version doesnt have any probs
I have the PAL one and yes it has problems. KOF’97 has issues with sound as the music doesn’t play on the stages and KOF’98 has also sound issues, like when you start a round instead of saying ready go!, the person shouts, ready perfect!. Also some other sound bites are missing with taunts and intros. I know its minor but I love the music in the KOF games and its a shame this complilation butchered it.
Also it has strange input lag on KOF’98 and KOF’95 runs pretty roughly.
