the reason nobody liked it was because it was… well different. it felt slow in comparison with 95 but it had nice things like new sprites and animations for characaters. A year later with 97 improved on the speed of the game, new characters like the new face team, shingo and the orochis. 97 really was popular
and by presentation 97 is the best hands down, well is my opinion anyway
I’d say it’s a tie between 96 and the first Maximum Impact.
Daimon in 98 had some counterpicks. There’s a reason I used EX Mai so much- I felt she counterpicked Daimon and hung with Iori if you were a master at runaway.
Iori really wasn’t worse then your average top tier in any other fighter in retrospect. Also, you had variety in the top tiers, even in OG98 with Kyo, Beni, Chizuru, EX Yash, and Chris all being viewed as equally effective, and many teams had a mid-tier or two snuck in also. XI it was harder to see other chars.
If you are talking about playability being the worst it’s 99’.
If you are talking about system mechanics being the worst it’s XI and 99’.
If you are talking about replay value being the worst it’s XI and 99’.
moves, specials, dms are slow. Overall the game isn’t that bad except you’ll get stun dizzy really fast.
Often people forget 96 is the base of what is kof today. Just like these days, nobody will acknowledge kof XII for what it will be kof XIII or XIV in the future.
Yeah alot of supers couldn’t be comboed into if i recall, a few could, mai, beni joe, hmm i cant recall the others all grapplers could possibly chin, i’m talking canceled off a normal HP or HK.
I loved how they hit in 96 though i loved that they had the little flash but the screen didn’t go black.
Actually funny you mention about getting stunned in 96, it had the worst stun system ever, well almost, the stun meter never goes down in 96, you cant see it but it’s there, i remember it takes 5 ralfs standing c to daze them in 96, but you can do 4 wait for 40 seconds then go do standing lp and they would still get dazed even though you’ve not touched them for almost the whole round.
The AES statment was just to let you know that I was not some troll posting from a low knowledge base about KOF. I know that it was not an AES release. I have the back ground to make certain statments about the KOF series and I can too in fact factor XI and base on my knowledge of the progression of the KOFs till now as I played XI as well sir.
Well you’re a first. The striker system is as bad as the tag system? At least the Tag system came with damage scaling and didn’t allow piss easy 100% combos.
And what’s this about replay value? If you’re playing by yourself aka no comp: With no comp no KOF is worth playing. You might as well go window shopping.
If you’re talking single player content, XI is on par with 02UM and both are below MI2’s single player content.
I like KOF XII. Old school 3 on 3 with recoverble life and two new system functions. Low character count for a more blanced game in KOF XII. Having too many character is what made KOFs not a respectable game over the years. KOF XII is fresh start to building a truly blanced KOF for the first time since 02’. We are next gen and going to EVO. SNK players have a chance to be big in america for the first time. Lets not pass the chance up.
KOFXII has a small roster because it was a unfinished game.
I guess some characters only having two special moves in their command lists or actually going backwards after the stuff they gained over the years is what you call “starting fresh”.
All PS3 systems next year and I doubt they will have SC 4 again…which means…
T6
SSF IV
KOF XII
MVC 2
HD-REMIX
BB
Your hurting the KOF communities future Shiki with all this hate. Chill out a little. If we can get people in on the game that is current gen system then they will start to go research other past KOFs like 2k2 UM. Take one step at a time. This is the role of leadership with in a gaming scene. One step at a time.
And where is this interest in KOF XII that’s going to put it in Evo? Where are the players? Who wants a 4-6 man tournament at Evo? That’s a joke.
Aside from Dark Geese and the AI players who is playing XII even remotely seriously? Better yet aside from those guys, who would actually go to Evo to support XII? Tell me how you plan to convince the heads of Evo to let KOF XII be on the list.
As a group that loves a game we have to do something together to get things started. It would be good to have a petition sign-up and put it before the EVO commity. But if you want something it takes a movement over a period of time.
Would you like for there to be an SNK game at EVO? If yes then we are going to have to work for it. But it has to be something that you want first and are willing to work for and believe in.
