Woo Hoo Naomi & Atomiswave Emulation in Progress!

rename one of your naomi bios files that u used for demul into naomi_boot.bin and it will boot…

however gettin the games to boot is a diff story… when more news sites post about it i’m sure they will tell us how…

its quite simple

those .lst files are text files

for example if you had a rom named xxx.bin

in a text file, write:

xxx
"xxx.bin", 0x0000000, 0x[hex of size]

save it as a .lst file and read off it

How to convert number to hex:
If you dont know anything about that, simplest way would be using the windows calculator.
Get the exact rom size in bytes. For example the ggx2gd.bin rom is exactly 251658240 bytes
Open up windows calculator
from the view menu, select scientific
paste this size number in bytes
check the hex option

if you pasted in 251658240 it should read F000000

so your lst file for ggx2gd becomes:

ggx2gd
"ggx2gd.bin", 0x0000000, 0x0F000000

You can have multiple lines for split roms and thats the main reason why he added it.

I made my lst file for Capcom vs. SNK Pro, but I couldn’t actually get it running (kept getting an error).

Here is what I put in my LST file.

snkvscap
"C:\Documents and Settings\Hisham\Desktop\Games\Naomi\Demul\ROMS\snkvscap.bin", 0x0000000, 0x07800000

I was right in assuming that you’d have to point to the bin file right?

Now whenever I boot it though, it gives me an error (one of those, report to MS errors).

Getting the same prob w/ #reload.

thats the default exception handler…

maybe the filename was too big that caused it to crash? put the lst and the rom file in the same folder so you dont have to specify absolute path? maybe in the same folder as nulldc and then try it?

Got it running Capcom vs SNK pro with Demul but I am getting horrible fps, like 20-25 average making it unplayable. Are there any settings anyone knows that can help out. My comp isn’t new but it should be able to run it better than this. 3.4 P4, 3gig RAM, ATI x700 128mb vid card, Win XP Pro SP3

wait for emu to be optimized

Yeah, putting the lst file in the same folder as my roms worked.

Now I am either getting an Error 01 (game not accepted by main board) or Error 22 (communication error) when I boot it up. It is all depending on which bios I use too.

I told you guys it needed more testing . This is how you’re supposed to use it.

  • Get naomi_boot.bin (get this by opening the naomi bios zip and taking 1 file out and renaming it to naomi_boot.bin.

Now, there is a problem with the bios, since Raz did not have all the keys half of the bios will work the other half won’t. The way to find out is to load NullDC w/o a rom. You will get an error on boot. If you get Error 01 then you’re good. If you get Error 22 you have to switch your naomi bios file with another.

-This version of NullDC will ONLY run DECRYPTED GD-roms so cart games won’t. Now, he did release a file to decrypt GD-rom games. Try this with something like CvS2.

-Extract track03.bin from the CvS2 zip file. Now, open command prompt and open the exe gdrom2rom and type this in:

gdrom2rom track03.bin 2F3226165B9E407C test test

This will give you 2 new files, a .lst file that has the info to open the rom and a file named test (the decrypted rom).

-Now, open nullDC and open the new .lst file. The rom should now boot.

Keys are: 1 = Start, 5 = coin (supposedly :bgrin:)

You have to remember this is still in its alpha stages. It will be way more stable and user friendly in the next version. We were having test issues so that is why it incorporates .lst files, etc.

Hope you all enojoy.

P.S.: The release you all have is a test release. An official one is coming in the next coming hours.

Ok here comes a nub question… Does all this new stuff mean that a release for ggpo is gonna be soon or what? Cause im just waitin for that.

Very nice, I can’t wait!!! :lovin:

good good

Thanks man, I got CVS2 running near perfectly. If the next release has support for GD Romcarts, than that would be perfect.

Was able to run Street Fighter Zero 3 Upper late last night.

Let’s just say you need the right rom and you need to also use gdrom2rom.exe with nullDC Naomi version. If you can’t use gdrom2rom.exe without success then just give up.

ps2 emu for 2d games isn’t too demanding. i get 120fps in cvs2 with a 2.6 x2, 8600t, and 2gb of ram in vista.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. The games are able to get emulated, they just need to be ripped first. There is nothing stopping any of those games from getting dumped.

EDIT: CvS2 Running 100%!!!

Okay you’re seriously not getting it. He has every idea what he’s talking about. He is responding to a post asking what the point of Naomi emulation is when we already have great DC emulation. The point is, you wouldn’t be able to play GGAC if you didn’t have a Naomi emulator, since the game wasn’t released on the Dreamcast. Fucking hell; you even went and made posts on ngemu about it when all you had to do was go back and read this thread again

For the people who say, whats the point of Emulating Naomi for CVS2/MVC2 when DC is already emulated fine. Playing the actual Arcade version is still better than an Arcade perfect port. The arcade perfect port is still a copy of the original, and even then, the “arcade perfect port” of MVC2/CVS2 aren’t perfect.

^ um the dreamcast one is whack. random frames are always missing(OFFLINE) and its very hard to combo anything into anything. hope this arcade version is more playable. I will try some things out and post my result. someone should port this to FBA already I cant wait to kick some ass !!

Thats what I mean, even though these console ports are considered “Arcade Perfect”, nothing beats the actual Arcade version itself.
