Won my first local tournament yesterday playing Gen! Yaaahoooo!

I noticed that when I double plink I hit the bnb 80% but if I plink its 60% (I plink on pad anyway)

As for my self i press HP + 3 punches. No idea if it actually makes the windows for bnb bigger but if i do it too fast MP comes out and I don’t loose the pressure. Even though i have a fightpad still can’t force my self to hold it as an arcade stick so i use this method since the 3 punches is a trigger it’s a lot easier than pressing two punches with thumb.

That applause. Music in my ears. Also really nice finish, beautiful.
Also faved.

Thanks bro. had to finish with the crane. makes Gen look so swag. next tourney I am going to try and get a chinese outfit like Gen to the event

I heard a rumor that I am banned from this month’s local tourney:(, they said my level is way higher than the target audience and that I am going to scare away potential SF4 players:eek:. I hope they reconsider their stand and allow me to compete. It sucks that Gen scares the shit out of the community.

Maybe they’re making it an underdog tourney ;)?

They should have a beat ugo event if they won’t allow you to participate.

They are making it look like Gen is OP. I didnt even use any unblockable set up in the tourney. This sucks. Although the big hitters decided not to compete to give others a chance, but since when did I turn into a top tier player?>:(

Feel like zanei someone right now. SOMEONE HAND ME SOME SALT!!!:nunchuck:

If its winning they are afraid of, hell I can just walk away from the grand finals (if I make it there) but sheesh, denying me my fight to the last man is plain unfair

From my perspective there are several levels of playing ability.
No1 are the beginners, people who picked up the game for the first time and some who play it very little, not to mention train anything.
No2 are people who play the game frequently and gathered some actual experience and know some of the moves.
No3 means they do not only play frequently but also put some work into it, like training combos and keeping a cool head.
No4 consists of people who also succeeded with their training and collected deeper knowledge like frame traps and individual match ups.
No5 are the top players whose life mainly consists of playing the game.

Something like that. It’s not a finished model. Maybe the people from your tournament are mainly lvl1 and 2, maybe some from 3. You should be lvl4.
I’m also somewhere between 2 and 3 because I don’t like to work hard on my SF-related skills.
Seems like you have get yourself some new opponents.

No offense to you or anything, but where do you live and what kind of community is this?

Oh yeah, it’s still just a rumor right?

lol! I am in Lagos Nigeria. but anyway I think I have to accept whatever the decision is. Its a young community after all. I just have to go back to the lab and discover stuff

Become the old master and train the people. Level up the buggers until they stand a chance!

tell those guys to organize aside a kumite against you. With a prize.

I have a LOT of Family in Lagos haha! I’ll end up going there one day for sure.

Also. On the subject of people flocking to Gen…

Scumbag FG Player: Gen Huh? He’s the new shit everyone thinks is godlike right? Yeah I’m gonna play him!

  • 2 Hours Later*

Scumbag FG Player: Fuck this! You have to actually work with this guy!

No one is actually flocking to Gen though. It’s just that people are talking about him a lot more because of tournament exposure (amiyu & xian).

A major factor is obviously that even if you overcome all of the execution needed, he is still not a ‘very strong’ character. If you overcome Vipers execution barrier she becomes a damage monster and undoubtedly a top tier character, this is clearly not the case with Gen. The fact people are saying things like ‘gen will be considered top tier in 2/3 years’ and ‘he’s top 10’ is just because of recent hype of previously mentioned players. I am convinced Xian would not have won that tournament in Singapore had Daigo picked Ryu from the very start. His lack of MU knowledge was clear, however when he finally did pick Ryu the tides did turn for awhile but it was a little too late.

good point there.

Congrats man, hope this tourney win makes you more hungry to play and get better!

hehehee, well the tournament scene is still a bit shaky here, two tourneys have been held so far and I won the first and came second in the second one. still mad salty about coming second but I believe I am getting better day by day. Thanks.

Is there any recent video of you I can watch? will be really helpful

Nice job. I’ll be reviving my thread I started awhile back and include a good number of footage of tournies I’ve been entering.
