hands on pad
Does that mean you can do stuff like mantis cr.mpxxhands or mantis mkxxhands? I try and try but still fail at that, haha.
But where are my manners? Congratulations on the win. You certainly deserved that.
I get it 80% of the time but sometimes ex comes out lol so I stick with BnB hands mostly unless I wear a thumb glove then I can do it with relative ease
I hit the buttons random. How do you do it? Maybe sliding the thumb over sp and mp before hitting hp with your index finger thrice?
for cMP hands, I crouch then slide mp lp, lp mp then press hp, like swipe left swipe right then press HP, for mk hands, I press mk and hp(2 frames late) then slide with my thumb mp lp mp hp, but its not consistent
A bit late but congratulations! I wish there would be tournaments here. Still not getting upset. As much as people trash online i still try to climb my steps to no.1 gen on pc. Only 3 positions left. Although the first one is hacker so that no.1 is never gonna be next to me haha.
Either way I salute you as a fellow gen player and much respect for being able to do some crazy shit with pad.
Goukenās success is still a riddle to me, and Iām also hyped as fuck that Infiltration has so much success with him. I donāt follow the Japanese players that much, but in the typical ranked replays Iāve seen plenty of counters against his moves/setups, which makes me question Infiltrationās opponents instead. Do they have the vital knowledge? Same goes for Hakan: a lot of people give him the chance he needs, where you need to lame out his oil, but be theatening enough to prevent re-oiling from afar (usually answered with multi-hit moves or special cancels on reaction).
Gen isnāt reliable enough to pick up at top level, even when you mastered him completely. When youāre standing everything is fine, but things turn on the knockdown. When youāre an expert on defense and can reset the match to neutral when things get hairy, you have an enormous chance to prevail. Sadly, those situations donāt arise every time and most Gen players just eat damage around then. After so many months of 2012, I donāt expect people like Sako to stick with Gen and instead turn to more reliable characters like Ibuki at tournaments.
Genās solid mid, sucks in OSing, has a few setups, good pokes and the typical burst damage going for him and thatās it. Nothing but respect for the people who do pick him (and I certainly will), but I understand people wonāt limit their options if they can play better characters on equal skill level. Not for a big prize pot, at least.
I doubt people will āflockā to Gen, at all.
Even if you master him heās just not as strong as other characters that are also unique (Ibuki etc.)
And besides, the casual player wonāt pick up Gen simply because it takes waaaayy too much time to become somewhat good with him compared to any other character (imo) to the point where you could hang with the high PP crowd. When I started playing a lil bit of Viper on the side and got over her execution barrier I found myself winning a lot, and more importantly it was much easier to win despite the fact I had played Gen far longer at that time. Gen is a specialist character, heās a hybrid of styles yet has no real distinct advantage in any particular area except apparently shenanigans and the recently discovered amount of unblockables lol. Heās just too āweirdā and complex for most people to even bother, and I understand that tbh. Sometimes I wonder if my interest laid in some other character like Viper or Seth, both of which I (kind of) enjoy to play with, if I would be a ābetterā player with any of those if I had put all of the time I spent on my Gen into either of themā¦you know?
That being said, I love Gen the most and naturally will always come back to him since his complexity is what interests me in the first place. I donāt play tournaments (and never will, dat no scene in Holland) so I cannot comment much on that, but he seems to be mid-tier at best when his full potential (what the hell is that anyway) is used.
p.s. Landing an Oga cross-up setup or hands FADC combo never gets old!
Yeah Gen probably wonāt become something people flock to en masse. Kind of sad that heās half charge character and that I just click with Akuma a bit more because I sure would love my papery toolbox a tad more footsie-y, less vortex-y. Or perhaps less papery. I do welcome the rise of Gen to the spotlight though, heās very interesting to watch and hey, one more sane character high up in the bracket amidst all the Seth/Viper vortex hell and Rufus divekick boredom? Hell. Yeah.
Sorry to get off topic here, but Iād like to address something.
There have been both RSD Ranbats (in Roosendaal) and annual national tournaments hosted by DN for years in a row, not to mention the recent addition of the European scale Red Fight District. On Drakenslag forums people regularly host offline casuals and you still say thereās no scene? Not on the surface maybe, but people definitely have love for the game and there are plenty of solid players around who can help you get motivated/in shape. Just pay us a visit.
If youāre just talking about online, most of the decent players are on XBL. I moved back there to get back in shape for that reason.
I went to Roosendaal once to one of those meetings when I was younger (vanilla sf4) and the dude there basically said āāsorry bro no room for you anymore, you new right? yeah we need good playersāā. I am quite aware of drakenslag, but a bunch of assholes like that I would not call a āsceneā I did hear something about a new Arcade opening in Zoetermeer though, and it has 3s, AE, and a bunch of Sega games so thatās kinda cool.
/off-topic
I only have a PS3 though, and I donāt feel like paying 200 (xbox, I think its even more expensive not sure) + 30 (the game) + 120 (arcade stick) just to play on xbla.
I used to think so, now I donāt. At all. Why? Amiyu, Rokotsu, Xian won legit tourneys with him, so this just means Gen is pretty valid. At the moment, Sako is keeping Ibuki as his main (and this shouldnāt surprise anyone, also because heās always had female character mains, lol) and Gen as second.
About Gouken, itās not just Infiltration⦠in Japan thereāre some very strong Gouken players such as Proudstrawberry, Bullcat, Keike Desoraā¦
I love the look on people faces when they lose to Gen, they are like āDamn I lost to an old manā
Look on my face is ādamn In lost to an old man who looks freaking cool.ā
hmm potentially another gen playerā¦
Nope, sorry, hate charge and love them fireballs, especially if shot from the air. Your low headcount is safe

I was wearing the brown color in respect to Warrior By Sand.
GG with the tournament win
Thanks bro. lol! much appreciated
Good job dude, I wish I could do the bnb.
My biggest weakness is being unable to learn rhythmic combos.
