Alright guys, heres the breakdown.
I had a talk with Billy(finally) about the previous tourney, this tourney, and the future tourneys. To start off, hes really impressed with the first tourney’s turnout, and he encourages more in the future. Freeplay however, is still something that needs to be worked out.
The thing is, he was fine with freeplay for the first tourney, but this time around it can’t be done, mostly because too much money was lost during the time those machines were on freeplay. I asked him about a possible cover fee at the door to guarantee freeplay for the rest of the day, to which he will definitely do if we can get more people to show up to the tourney. Hes also willing to cater for free(that means free food/drink) if we can get twice as many people as the first tourney showing up to future tourneys.
Really hes a nice guy and he wants to make these tourneys nice for those who take the time out to travel, but this tourneys gonna have to be “pay your way.”
More information will be posted up in the philly topic later on, and if you have anything you’d like to ask/request/suggest to the owner, PM ‘unvrsty pnbal’
EDIT: Hes open to running 2-day events, so thats something to consider for the future.
what day does this tournament fall on? a saturday? i missed the last 1 cuz it was on a saturday and i work every saturday. damn post office. i really want to go to this 1

And seriously, I would be willing to pay a decent cover charge if it meant freeplay even if they upped it slightly (gotta support) from the last time I was there, because it’s still a good deal if you ask me.
Dude, Dawain, if motherfuckers like myself took 14 hours to travel to TGA, paid $20 at the door, plus entry for whatever games, and food / drink, you better believe I’d do the same for Philly. You should tell him to put that shit to $15 - $20 cover charge and be done with it, people will come regardless.

did they change the date of the tourney? i could have sworn it was on the 2nd?
I’m guessing it’s b/c CTF is having a tourney that day; that’d detract from potential entrants.
E-Honda: I changed the date weeks ago, it’s because I might be out of town on the 2nd. The CF tourney is recent, it had nothing to do with the changing of the date.
I could get a good head-count for each game if I knew what everyone was signing up for. 
alright i’m gonna try my hardest to make it to this tourney for arcana and melty. i’ll tell my job i need to leave by 1:30 pm, that will give me an hour to drive up there and get there be4 signups end.

And you jerks really need to let me know what you plan on entering at least a week before the tourney so I can give an estimate headcount to people, and also to see if I might need to rearrange the schedule for bigger games to start earlier.
EDIT: To all who were talking about a possible cover fee for the entire day, his response at the time was that “locals who walk in and see the tournament might want to enter, but once they figure out its a $20 cover fee PLUS entry fee, they’re gonna say ‘fuck you’ and walk right back out.”
His problem is that SRK might want to pay, but not the locals. Either way, he said when the tourney racks up enough people he’ll start doing $5 cover fees. This tourney looks like it’ll be that one to start it up, so its not too long of a wait
Won’t implementing a cover charge discourage people from coming? Just when the numbers get large you will want to discourage people from coming? thats odd. The break used to keep the machines on .25 or .50 cents then add that to the entry fee then add it all to the pot. I don’t know how much was skimmed off the top but i know some was. Perhaps a small % to the arcade, 5% for each game or whatever.
I’m in for ST depending on the numbers i might do 3rd Strike as well. unless you decide to do alphas…

cuse the people who didn’t enter… were the ones that were too scared to put up anyways… and yes if you can tell me those locals will enter and not pussy out… then i would definitley say let’s just keep it that way… but the people who enter are on SRK anyways… but bill does have a point… but also the majority are also the SRK folks… but shit i wouldn’t mind seeing how it plays out… but if you can tell me these locals don’t cop out and enter instead "OMG i wont enter since i won’t win… then im all about it…
