Will SFxT be the new flagship FG?

I hope so. I like SF4 but it’s time for a new main game and that shit ain’t Marvel 3.

Of course we like Sf4. It revived fighting games. That’s why we’re back here.

Nah, from what I’ve seen so far it’s just more accessible than SSF4. So random scrubs can pick up the game, do easy and cool looking combos and have fun.

But bad players will still lose badly because they won’t know how to manage their meter and how to maximize damage with links. That’s what’s going to separate good players from average players. Zoning and footsies too.

Pandora mode seems less effective than ultras or supers so it won’t be a really reliable comeback mechanic. Also option-selects and vortexes won’t be as dominant either. And that’s a good thing imo.

team games are usually instantly less accessible than single characters ones especially when one character dies and you lose. I think its too different from the other “top” games atm.

the only thing that tells whether the game will be wildly popular is when the game is actually out sadly.

people like sf4. they could have stopped playing it ages ago.

honestly after 2012 in particular it’ll be clear which games are good because this is a pretty saturated(over) fighting game market.

SFxT will most definitely replace SF4 as the mainstream SF game. Many people (including myself) were anticipated for SF4 and played it for the brand name, so now bring in a new game that has SF in the title, looks nearly identical to the previous SF game, and offers new exciting things to the formula. What reason does the mainstream have to go back? 2v2 means they can play 2 shotos instead of just one. Gems to enhance their character and they playstyle. A refreshing roster with more than half the characters being new to the formula, including Poison, Rolento, Hugo, and a slew of Tekken characters. No more having to put up with characters like Seth, Viper, Fuerte and Blanka (for the moment). Unless you’re still planning on competing in AE2012, why would you want to go back?

I likes SF4 as well. It’s a fun game. I won’t say it revived fighting games, but it did give me a reason to stop lurking and become a member.

AE2012 though is very boring. Not because it’s 4 years old, but because they nerfed it to the ground to compensate for lousy characters. Everyone sucks more or less, and no one is truly dirty in this game anymore.

Super was 100 times more boring than AE 2012.

Unless Dhalsim, Honda and Guile mirrors are your idea of excitement.

what are his reasons for hating it now?

Real talk. Let me know when scrubs body top players based on gem picks. This isn’t Ultimate Touch of Death 3. No revenge bar comeback, no bias system mechanics so far; I don’t foresee new players taking cheap wins easily. You’ll have to learn things from the ground up. With how rewarding jump in attacks are and how much uppercut trading so far, you best be on your toes with all your options.

“So easy even women can win in it” or something like that, if I recall correctly.

anybody think the ease of playing will factor here , ?

mvc3 is fraud friendly as hell ,

I dunno about this one no xfactor no abc 123

no auto mixups

I dunno

But Sanford is called Saltford for a reason…
^^

Not even close IMO. This game looks a lot harder than SF4. Sure, combos and links are easier but the game is much more cruel to mistakes - no FADC DP to get out of sticky situations, the comeback mechanic is really hard to use, damage is a lot higher and so forth.

It looks easier for begginers to get into because of lp, mp, hp, hp launches which will make some people feel like they kick ass.

But outside of that I saw alot of combo drops, alot of tight timing links, really long and complicated looking combos, and above all else deep combo mechanics.

The average joe can pick this up and feel good about it, but its going to take a long time to master and get down. Also more dependence on footsies always makes games more difficult. Not having solid AA options as well, more situational AA means more time labbing.

Yup. Part of is that the only fighter’s I’m actually good at, at this point, are SF4$MvC3; and MvC is *far *too crazy and gimmicky for my tastes. But it’s also because I prefer the feel of the game in general. SF isn’t about ‘Who can pull of the longest combo’, or constantly rushing your opponent; it’s more zone-heavy, and (to me,) is more strategic then some of the other stuff out there. (Like MvC…) Though again, it’s also what I’m good at. (I *want *to get good at other fighters, such as KoF; actually played agaisnt the CPU in KoF for years. But playing agaisnt actual humans is a different story…)

In any case, SFxT looks like it takes what I like about SF, removes what I *don’t *like, (Ultra’s and Focus Attacks,) and adds and improves in a number of ways. If this game doesn’t do big, I’d honestly be surprised.

Hopefully.
Because umvc3 and ssf4 being the only options for mainstream games really sucks if you aren’t a marvel player and feel ssf4 plays like shit.

Didn’t matter. Those characters were highly effective in Super, and that’s what Capcom should have done for every character. Nerfing them and everyone else to mediocre status makes the game mediocre. Having a variety of character choices doesn’t matter if all the choices are bland. See MVC2.

Well I agree that nerfing was a bad idea. They should’ve just buffed the lower tier characters and leave the other characters intact.

But “character choices being bland” is just your opinion and it isn’t worth much.

they are bland. ssf4 is a shitfest. everything is tedious and pedantic. every character moves like a scared elephant.

It revived Street Fighter.

Let’s not hate on SSF4 just because SFxT is coming out soon. I still think SSF4 AE is the best 2D fighter at the moment and I’ve played it a lot (and I still play it sometimes).
Just because it’s getting old doesn’t mean that this game is bad or something.
