Will SFxT be the new flagship FG?

If the game actually turns out to be good then it will likely become the new flagship fighter. However if it turns out to be ass we will be forgetting about it and dusting off AE/UMVC/Whatever game within a year from now.

What are alpha 3 players opinion on this? I think that the engine closely mimics alpha 3 in some ways, i want to know what players like TS thinks of this.

Marvel won’t be displaced from top two… it’s just way to different and appeals to a certain audience (me included). SFxT looks very much more palatable than UMvC3 and has the elements of AE at its core with many new mechanics.

No more ultras for herp derp SRK-FADC comebacks, along with making it a more oki rather than jab, jab tick throw game potentially makes it better in many eyes. Anti-airs being nerfed will be interesting. Not to mention the Tekken side brings much more to be explored, at least for the rest of the year even after EVO. Definitely looks like Japan is taking to the game well, being heavily promoted there as well as state side.

AE 2012 is more or less explored already and many of the matchups are now 6-4 at worst… it’s not hype watching top SF4 play at Big Two anymore… it’s Dieminion vs Sanford 80% of the time. Sure, we have majors… but things are getting stale due to low damage lame play. If SFxT ends up being stupid in some way, it will quietly live alongside AE until players stop supporting it. However, if it genuinely wins hearts of the players, its life will probably be like CVS2 along the side of 3S.

No V-ism, no guard break :(. Realtalk, I really don’t see much of a resemblance. Single gauge, pseudo alpha counter. But I’m a scrub … lol

i like it

The only guy who’s opinion I truly listen to claims it’s better than SFIV. Yep, Rockefeller might even start recording stuff for it on the Dr. Sub-Zero show (according to Shogs). Speaking of which, y’all should listen to it when you get the chance (and X5 comes out).

This was brought to you by the friends of ‘roku fera’, the Sir Bobby Blake Sexy Bear Party Club and the Society For Keeping People From Blowing Their Brains Out In Ditches.

In a word…

A game can change over time and so can opinions. Look at vanilla SF4, Akuma, Seth. Speculating at this point in time doesn’t get very far.

Although to be honest if it cares about being a “flagship” title it needs to do more than please top players, it also needs the mid-level support to get good turnouts, not that it’s necessarily unlikely. I do sense some SF4 fatigue and the Tekken brand is an excuse to draw interest.

when the fuck did x4 come out?

Using 3S players tastes is a strong measure of quality.

I’d say so they don’t fucking approve of anything ever.

It isn’t. I just didn’t want to jinx it, considering we have a preview vid out now.

I didn’t mean it as a measure of quality, just as a mind blowing feat that no other game as been able to accomplish EVER. In the history of time and space and everything in it.

…except 3s. :stuck_out_tongue:

It will surpass SF4 and be considered the best fighting game ever. Hold me on that.

And why do you think it will be like MK in a year?

AE 2012 will be still the king, get over it.

Also is really funny how desperate is Capcom when they promote the game.

This game will be the main game at Evo this year, and probably the next year as well.

Hold me on that.

A lot of people are claiming its going to replace UMvC because it’s a team game, but honestly they play nothing alike… I dont see them competing…

But I’m wondering if it’s going to replace the current spot SF4 is in at the moment honestly. It appeals to both SF and Tekken players, and it seems much less “dumbed down” than SF4 was/is… has a lot of more complex mechanics. But it all depends on how well they come together in the end.

Not to mention true 2v2 format.

I think sfxt will be the main game at evo I mean I think sooo many people will be playing it I know for a FACT this game is soo fun best capcom fighter since cvs2 to me

I think the fact that it’s a console only release, ie no arcades means it’ll be smaller then SFIV without a doubt… I don’t see it blowing up in Japan like SFIV did, for example
