Like a lot of you, when I first heard about it, I just couldn’t find the words. Not that much better right now, tho.
My last memory of Will was not even directly of him. Myself, Phi, Issac and his friend (I’m sorry dude, I couldn’t remember your name) were talking rather fondly about him and the community in general over dinner at the last CF tourney. Not even 3 weeks ago. Just taking time out from life, being in NY, talking about everybody having fun playing games and being friends - can’t get much better than that. It’s so surreal to know that someone that was truly one of us can’t enjoy something like that anymore. And that we can’t enjoy Will’s presence anymore. The scene can’t possibly be the same without him.
Art made me remember NEC3…those were some good times. Can’t wait to see everyone again at NEC5. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Damn, didn’t know the guy but it’s always a shitty situation when someone passes. I feel really sorry for him, cuz he must of gone threw alot of shit for him to get to that point. Hopefully he’s at peace now and can finally rest. It’s gonna be hard for his son to understand what happened so I hope he gets threw it also as well as his wife. Condolences to the family and his friends that miss him. Peace out
He had skillz, he was a shittalker, he was a friend. It’s rare that a person in the fighting game community can have all these traits as much as Will did. He played everything, was good at everything (even ST!! 
), and was always cool to shoot the shit with. I was never good at putting this kinda shit into words, but may you rest in peace Will, you will be missed.
I can’t say I knew him well, but he was one of the guys I was with at ECC8 last year. At first I wasn’t sure, but when Famicom mentioned it, it sort of confirmed things. He was a funny guy and made that weekend last year fun.
Unfortunately I didn’t get to meet the guy, but it’s more than obvious that he was a huge part of the scene, he’s touched alot of folks and even brought out some old faces from the scene.
May he rest in peace, and my utmost deepest condolences to all those who knew him and obviously just loved being around him.

Aww man, I heard about this and I couldn’t match the familiar name with a face. Thanks Phi for the pic. This was one guy that made my first two big tournies (ECC9 and GTR) memorable. Will was a very likeable cat. And the way I saw him interact with other gamers made me wish we were friends. He seemed so full of life!! It sad to be writing this, but I wouldn’t feel right not paying my respect. I feel so sorry for those closest to him.
This actually happened the 7th, not the 13th. The reason it wasn’t posted on srk earlier was because we were trying to keep this with close friends/family. Will was one of my closest friends over the past year or 2, i saw him almost every weekend, and spent a lot of time with him. This has really hurt the md crew, and we really appreciate your guys condolences.
Well, I dont really wanna go into much detail about shit. Everyone close to it knows Will was my fucking boy. Its not even about games, this shit is a joke, we do it for fun, and its people like Will that made it fun. Good times…This shit is just so fucking bad, no other shit to say. Isaac, Bmore, Frody, all our Md peeps…much love. Guess I just kinda needed to write some shit out about this…

I just found a couple of his MVC2 matches from ECC9 (thanks to Preppy) on my hard drive. And I was looking through a few more to see if he was in the background. I found two more with him laughing with friends after a match. It kinda helps to see him happy. Feel free to IM me and I’ll be happy to share.
Ummm, this shit is mad hard to post about. I’m not sure where to start. Aight maybe i’ll start in 1991 when i met the former “Billy Props” who later converted to “TeardaFur” Will wasn’t like most people he was honest, down to earth, and very confident. He was also good at games. He always said I never beat him in a tournament, which is very true. And he always talked shit. Thats just one of the things that makes you from Baltimore, many times we would be down crazy about to get into fights cus niggaz always talked mad shit to each other. Its funny that’s one of the things that made people remember Will. But i’m not down for this i’ll write more later.

Prior to meeting him at ECC9, there’s only one memory I had of Will Martin and that was from an interview with him and James Paige from a couple years back. So for those of you that would like to see it, I taped it right off my screen (sorry I don’t have any DVD ripping programs to get it from the NEC3 DVD) and it’s up at this link for a few days. If anyone has a proper rip and need a host I’ll be happy to do so.

I knew Will from back in GAME TIME “Best place to get your butt kick” He was a really good friend. I was just in his house about a month ago, and luckily I have good memories of him. Damn B I will miss you ! and i will never forget all the good times we had!! :shake: :shake: :shake: :sad:
Wow this has really brought out some OG Baltimore heads, some old school MD/VA heads, some old-ass fools in general.
Justin thank you su much for putting up that NEC interview, that’s really great to see some James/Will back and repoire (sp?). That’s how I met those guys, that’s how I’ll always remember Will, playin it cool, yet letting that ass whupping be known.
AND PLUS he walked off with the pizza at the end of the interview. Fucking classic. This NEC I will definately keep him in mind.

There is nothing for me to say other than to show my support and sorrow over this loss.
It’s been over a week now but it’s still hard to take. I have a hard time typing about this. Will was easily one of my favorite people to hang around. Yea he was good at games but that’s not even a fraction of the man. Definitely one of the funniest people around and he knew how to stand out in a crowd. Everyone knows if Will is in the room. He makes sure of that! One of the best shittalkers around even when he’s not playing. Tons of character. So many classic memories in and out of tournaments. The roll cancel stories, will vs psi at gametime, getting high at nec and ordering takeout, money game stories… list goes on and on. So many good (and not so good) memories… I wish it never came to this. Goddamnit Will. you will be missed…
We lost a great person guys… Will motherfuckin Martin.
I first met will at a philly tourney back in 2000 and he and bmorechun beat the whole montreal team in alpha 3… we were forced to watch his v-gief play chun-li in the finals.
Since then I talked to him in every tourney and he was a great guy.

I met Will like two years back when I was still new to out of state tourneys, his geif had always been the posterboy for mine so I thought it was cool talking to him. One of the more charismatic players in the scene, he could always make you laugh while still keeping a straight face. One of the better players and better people in the EC, he will be missed.
