I got to hang out with him a couple of times at ECC, and played him on XBLIVE alot in cvs2. He was a funny mother fuker man!! R.I.P. Will. ECC wont be the same without you!! :sad: :sad:

i hope those who left, not limited to, brian (sloth), craig, brian (mummy), and will found peace.

I was looking foward to playing him again, hadnt played him
in years except for this past dirties Sept.:sad:
I asked how he was when he picked me up and didnt seem troubled.
We played Marvel till 1:00Am that Fri night.

but cant beat him at anything else…its been like that for years,
First Ken, now Will, another one of my favorite old school rivals,
died to something that could have been prevented:sad::mad:

Have you ever read something that made you feel compelled to speak out, only to not know where to begin? This is exactly what I’m experiencing now.
Will was a defining member of this community, and just like I said less than three months ago when we lost Brian, when a member of this community falls, we all feel the pain. I never really knew Will personally, but he was an avid supporter of my tournaments back in the day, and whenever I saw him after retirement, he always asked me if I was planning on making any sort of a return. It’s ironic that I have cemented plans to go to NEC5 in two weeks. We should arrange a moment of silence before we begin the tournament for all of our fallen comrades over the years (Tee, Craig, Brian, and now Will come to mind.)
Condolences to the family and friends of Will, especially the MD crew that are taking this hit worst of all. Godspeed Will. :sad:
Why do peopledo this? This is so very sad. And he left a son as well. May the almighty have mercy on him and his family.

I meet Will at a Tourney In NC a couple of years ago and let me say this guy was cool as hell. My very 1st tourney and this cat was helping me improve my game. He is a great friend and he will be miss. I cant understand why somebody would want to do this :sad: It hurts my heart when my SF brothers pass away. A great Player and Friend will be miss. My heart and Prayers go out to Will’s Family and Friends :sad:

i never met the man, but i offer my deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Death makes you appreciate life in no other way. Live life day by day and appreciate all that is around you, taking nothing for granted. Show your appreciation anytime you can because you never know when you’ll get another chance. Debt, problems with your girl, etc pale in comparison. Use these as motivation for your life and to become the master of your world, because we are not promised tomorrow. Life is so precious.

Brotha doesn’t even know where to begin. Will was my dog…I met this crazy cat my 2nd ECC. This brotha comes to me out of know where askin me if alpha 3 zangief had any chance to beat Dhalsim. At that time my Dhaly was hot…so I tell this brotha…nah man…there is no hope for Zangief in that match. So all day Will keeps comin up to me and is like…“man, you sure there aint nothin zangief can do? It’s impossible? Damn” So here I am tellin him this match is impossible and then we had to play each other next in A3.Little did I know he was just pysching me out cause he had a little special trick of his own with gief vs dhaly. Of course im a little over confident since I knew he was picking zangief. . He ends up clutching a game with this crazy V-Zangief leeping across the screen trick and really started bringing the buisness in A3. Gave me a big wake up call…and Will taught me that day…to never under estimate anybody…no matter what the match up is.After the fight, he was like man…I thought I had you pysched man hehehe. I liked will, cause he knew the true art of these fighting games…its all about getting into the players mind…not about who beats who on paper. I respected him a lot for that. Will was a good guy, always coming up with off the wall strats and Ideas that made him excell above the rest.

This is just too much…
I can’t really think of much to say, he really represented something about the SF community that made SF what it was. I only wish there was a way that I could’ve gotten to know him a little better. When I think back to when I used to play tournaments I always remember times that I talked and played with Will Martin in SF. He really was a great guy to be around. I’m just saddened that I only knew him for a short time and wish I made better of it.

Sometimes life gets to painfull that we forget ourselves for a moment. If Will just though about how much his freinds and family respected and loved him, he would not have done what he did.
