Wii Thread 4.0, WEEUWEEUWEEUWEE!

I’m enjoying RS2 too! There are some things I wish had stayed out, but when I get “into” a good fight, my thoughts at the conclusion of the fight include “this &&&& rocks!” I doubt I’ll play through a second time (due to the “filler” that’s in here and upcoming games I’m excited about), but I’m playing on Ninja now and it’s cool.

I’m still on 3.3U never updated it ever.

Wii HDMI Processor. Is this really possible?

…a wii HDMI processor? …I da knowwwww. That sounds big time sketch. If there’s video that exists that shows it’s differences between it and normal 480 then that’d be nice. I highly doubt it though…

A Naruto game showed up in our books by the name of Naruto Shippuden: Dragon Sword. Don’t know anything about it and I’m assuming it’s an adventure typish game. Don’t know how well that will end up.

Small thoughtful rant:
I finally got a chance to watch GT’s review and I sort of loled at their complaint about ‘lack of blood’ in Red Steel 2. I’m not completely dismissing that it’s an issue but I don’t think it’s a big one and I can understand Ubisoft’s politics on it. First off this is a sequal to a crappy (while commercially successful) launch game for the Wii. I think they want to try to get as many people back to playing this game as possible…I think going to an M rating would alienate some of the base that played the first game. Then there’s the issue with Wii owners being fickle as hell over good 3rd party games. I think Ubisoft wants to get as many people to play the game as possible plus they have something to prove after the first game so again I completely understand their reasoning. I say these things thoguh and I also look at this game where I’m quite litterally ramming my sword into this guys gut and you can see the character wrenching it a bit as he’s pulling it out. Would this game have been better if blood was included? What do you guys think?

/end

I think it ultimately comes down to a matter of preference…I don’t really care all that much if a game is lacking in the gore department. Halo doesn’t have a whole lotta blood and it’s one of the biggest franchises in gaming today. My opinion doesn’t really matter much cause my copy of RS2 is still on it’s way to my house but I don’t think the missing blood is going to make it a worse experience for me.

let me know what you think about the game when you get a chance to try it out.

There is money all over the damn place in this game! Kusagari must have had so much money rollin out of them that they just put anywhere lol. I feel like I knock over a trash can and fine freshly cooked (debatable) turkey eventually.

I just got The Dragon power up…Should be a lot of fun to use on the Katakara gunners. Wondering if it will help hack away shields,

I’ve been MIA from this thread for a good minute, but I have some impressions to impart.

Anyone else get 500 free wii points from Nintendo? If ya have no idea what to spend it on and don’t mind something completely random, I’d recommend Tomena Sanner from Konami. The game makes absolutely no sense, but it’s pretty wacky and fun. I’ve put about 30 minutes into it and that’s pretty much all you’ll get from it, but it does have multiplayer and leaderboards. 5 bucks well spent for me lol

Picked up Cave Story this Monday and it’s awesome. I’ve been waiting so long on this one and it doesn’t disappoint. The new graphics are awesome, but apparently the new music is pretty… ehh. I’m enjoying it though. If you haven’t played Cave Story yet, this is a must buy if you don’t mind spending money on what was (and is still) free on PC. Even if you have, there are a few new cool modes, including a play as Curly Brace mode, which I’ve heard includes an entirely different story. It’s totally worth it either way.

And finally I picked up Red Steel 2 Tuesday. I’m having a good time. The combat is so freaking satisfying. If you’ve been waiting for a sword fighting game on the Wii, this is it. My only complaints are that the voice acting and story are incredibly cheesy. And the masking load times get annoying. Overall, fun game. Glad I got the motion plus with it.

^My gamestop told me that i get the 500 free wii points and the 5$ discount when the game releases so that it keeps ppl from preordering and then coming back next day and saying they want to cancel. Is this the norm or am i getting lied too?

Thank you Zan. Especially on Tomena Sanner and Cave Story. I always like hearing other people’s impressions on games. Red Steel 2 is so good…I’m trying to tell people at work who have Wii’s to pick this game up but they’re iffy as hell on it because of the first game. I try telling them to just try and forget that the first Red Steel even existed. This game is basically what the first Red Steel should have been.

To be honest it’s all dependent on what game it is. I don’t think that 'keeps people from preordering and then canceling the next day is completely true but it wouldn’t surprise me considering that 500 Wii points are involved (I can’t remember any games on any of the other systems or Wii for that matter off the top of my head that gave you free points for preordering…could be wrong though). At the other GS I used to work at we had this guy we called ‘Subway Mike’ who would come in preorder psp games just to get the demo and cancel it the next day. Manager absolutely hated his ass lol. In any case if you think about it…It makes sense to do it this way from a business stand point. I’m sure you get the idea.

Speaking of GS, In case you guys didn’t know…We are having a Gamedays sale for a few weeks at the store. I had to work late tonight to get stuff the stuff up and the stuff that’s going on sale in the bins this year is a whole hell of a lot better than it was last year. I’m not saying this just for Wii owner’s either…for any system owner who happens to read this post. They have a full list of all the games on sale in this thread. Bayonetta being at 39.99 is almost way too tempting for me right now…

@Platinum_Pinoy
Funny how you post about that hdmi converter and then the following day IGN puts up anarticleabout it. People are trying to request a review from them so they can see the difference. No telling on if they’ll do it or not.

Last Story’s Character Designs:

One of the commentors posted that this site says there will be a full reveal on this game this month. Dunno how true it is since I can’t read japanese.

i dont know if ive posted in this thread before.

the best wii games i have played are silent hill shattered memories, dead space extraction, house of the dead overkill, and okami.

has anyone picked up the contra and castlevania (not rondo) games they released on wii ware?

im outi

Roberth

Contra and Castlevania games are fun IMO. Did you not play/like No More Heroes 2 HeaT? I just got my copy in the mail but I"m not going to touch it yet until I finish Red Steel 2.

Finished up Red Steel 2 on Normal. This game is pretty awesome. Story was ok through out…I actually like Jian the most. He felt like he had a Mr.Miyagi feeling going on. Gameplay was for most part of the game spot on. I’m actually really hype for Red Steel 3 (if they even decide to do that and if it’ll show up on Wii or Nintendo’s next console.) Everything was responsive and accurate and I felt that most of the time if something came out that I didn’t want it was my doing. Battles could get kind of hectic when people were attacking you from all sides and some of the tougher enemies didn’t take shit from you especially if they were in a group. Often times entering a room I had to identify the types of enemies in the room and plan mt attack from there. If you’re still claiming your Wii has been collecting dust and you have a Wii MotionPlus then I can easily reccommend taking this game for a spin. I have a fee;ing that some first person games that come out (PS3 or Wii) will probably draw influence from this. Nice job Ubisoft.

Now…on to NMH2…

I think it’s pretty stupid when people say that their Wii has been “collecting dust since Mario Kart” or some shit like that. If that’s true for you, you must not be paying enough attention to what’s getting released or you might not be as “hardcore” of a gamer as you think you are. I understand that there have been some droughts and that some genres are near nonexistent, but between all of the Retail/Wiiware/VC games, there should be something that you’d be interested in playing or, at the very least, trying out.

Glad you liked RS2! I can’t wait for my copy to come in.

I’m just going to throw out a few random statements of praise for Red Steel 2.

Red Steel 2 could make many skeptics of motion control think again. It is the top ambassador of motion controlled gaming as it pertains to “core” gaming. It represents a level of progress that gamers who were enthusiastic about Point & Motion, even prior to Wii’s release, have been longing for.

The combat in Red Steel 2 is SUPERB! Fun and Intense! Get creative in linking your attacks. For a First Person Action game, the movelist is exceptional and quite satisfying.

A distinct/outstanding experience!

The overall game is certainly not flawless, but what truly matters here was executed incredibly well. 8.5 was how I felt early on. 9.0 or higher is how I feel now.

If you’re decent at games, I would recommend choosing “Ninja” difficulty for a first playthrough. This was my choice, and I sometimes wonder if I’d feel as positive about what I’ve experienced had I chosen a lower difficulty level. Without doubt, combat intensity can be attributed in part to the difficulty level (Ninja).

Wanting and imagining another Red Steel game!

For the guy saying the new Cave Story music was lacking is because of the fact somehow when Nintendo uploaded it to the shop it got messed up somehow.

?As you?ve all noticed, there?s a lot of weird things going on with the audio, for instance: drum tracks not playing (there is actually drums in the music files we provided), instrument changes delayed, unbalanced mixing. I discovered this yesterday by watching ?Let?s Play? videos, and am as disappointed as you. Nicklas and me have [asked many times] to sound check the game, but that?s not really something we had control over. Of course, the music is still questionable, but I just wanted to say a few words about it since people start to associate us with all the audio oddities in that game. That?s quite embarrassing, especially because I feel like we?ve done the job seriously considering limitations we had and time we spent sorting them out.? - Yann van der Cruyssen

Now that I think about it, I should of never sold my Wii off. I plan on buying one soon, and has the price dropped down on them?

Yeah, it dropped $50.

I feel the same way but people will like what they want to like and think what they want. I have well over 20 Wii games that I’ve enjoyed (I don’t trade in any of my stuff) and most of my Wii library is mostly the exclusive titles and/or titles that wouldn’t be the same experience on the other systems. Part of the fun of Shattered Memories is the immersion you feel with how they implemented the controls and the flash light. No More Heroes port will probably be decent on the 360/ps3 but for me part of the charm came from actually doing the motions to chop up those bodies. I’ve enjoyed playing my Wii at least on the same level as my 360. It sucks that this system has a bajillion games of shovelware on it from developers looking to make a quick buck but the games that are made for this system with care are fun and unique and show that motion controls aren’t a gimmick…no matter how many of the core gamers dismiss it or try to write it off as such.

Did you die at all on Ninja difficulty? I’ll probably run through the game again gladly on a harder difficulty.

There’s probably way more ideas they could implement to make this game even better and I’m sure the controls could go through even more refining. I really hope this game ends up being successful because I want more of this. Seriously…Lucasarts needs to get off their ass. I can easily imagine how a lightsaber game would work with Red Steel 2 as working point. So many different games I can imagine using Red Steel 2 as a starting point.

Actually thinking more about it…I’m really starting to wonder how Nintendo’s approach to MotionPlus sword controls will be now. I’m getting a bit more eager to see what they came up with for LOZ.

Quick question about Red Steel 2 are the motions has exaggerated as in the commercials or will flicks be enough?
