That vid makes me want to play through Mario Galaxy again.
It also made me realize that I’m becoming something of a Queen fan. I can only think of 4 songs of theirs (Don’t Stop Me Now, Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, We Are the Champions), but I really like them all.
As far as Wii stuff goes, I’ve been making it through Metroid Prime 2 on Trilogy and loving it. Unfortunately at the big fetch quest now. Hopefully it can keep my interest.
I haven’t made it that far yet…how’s the rebalancing so far that they said they did to that game?
Edit:
This reminds me of another thought that I had nearly forgotten about until a customer came up to me and pointed the game out to me in this month’s GI. GI had the EXACT same screen shots for the wii version of call of duty that everyone else has and there’s still no gameplay on this game. I have the strongest feeling that this can’t possibly end well lol.
I don’t think this was posted before, but Iwata is off his meds again…
The wii has stalled…
Now first off let me say that while I’ll play almost any system/game genre (except fps unless they are REALLY good) but I’m admittedly a Nintendo fangirl. I won’t threaten your firstborn if you talk smack about Nintendo or anything but I know that every time the big N kicks out a system it’s software will occupy a significant portion of my game library.
That being said, I know that the Wii is not for everyone, and Nintendo may have inflated their consumer base without any long term plans for development, but really we are still in an economic downturn. I say focus on bringing more third party developers into the fold, (though to be honest I’m pretty impressed with some of the third party offerings so far) and get the first party staples out on a reasonable timetable. The Wii still pretty much prints money, but to expect people to buy a new system when they have bills to pay is a little arrogant, and it is not signs of Nintendo’s impending collapse. Of course I think that Iwata is right in saying that Nintendo should look to the future and not sit on the Wii but sometimes what he says comes off in a tone that I’m not sure he intends.
Well, I wouldn’t know about the rebalancing. I didn’t play the original so I have no personal account on what has changed. Additionally, I’ve been playing on Veteran which is the same difficulty as the GC release. I will say that the parts I heard the most complaints about (the boost ball guardian and spider ball guardian) only took me a couple of tries each, so either they aren’t as hard as the used to be, or I’m a beast lol.
As far of CoD MW for wii, this guy has been leaking out info because Activision doesn’t want to. It’s all fairly interesting and from these (there’s still more info in the Neogaf thread and GameFAQs) I at least know there was some effort put into it.
When Sin and Punishment 2 comes out you’re gonna love it. Controls, Graphics and Sound are spot on. Just know for now Kachi is God Tier. I wish I knew more Japanese but death to my enemies is universal in any language and S&P2 speaks that language oh so well. This is a definite buy whether or not you’ve even heard of the franchise.
Castlevania ReBirth is classic Castlevania for Wii. Just like Gradius and Contra before it, it doesn’t disappoint. It isn’t a remake of either Adventure 1 or 2 but a nice amalgam of OG Castlevania love with a retarded time limit that isn’t really needed. Be ready to drop points when this comes out as well.
Holy Fuck @ people at least asking nearly the same damn question 3 times. Definitely sounds like they’re putting some effort into it if what this guy says is true. I’m guessing Activision and Infinity Ward want most of the attention on MW2…though that’s still not really a viable reason IMO. Nothing is going to stop the MW2 hype train this year the only 2 games this year I see somewhat standing a chance are Batman and Uncharted 2. In any case thanks for linking that Zan.
I think I agree with most of this. Nintendo still is going to have to make sure they get their act back together and keep it that way going into next year because they’re going to have to take up the master sword and hylian shield to fend off Sony’s and (less so IMO) Microsoft’s motion controllers. I know they want let 3rd parties have an easier time making stuff on their system in comparison to the past 2 generations but they can’t have another 3/4 gap like last year and try to space their 1st party stuff out.
That being said I don’t think they lower Wii numbers should definitely be noted but not something to go up in arms too much about. PS3 finally dropped to a price point that are making consumers go 'aight I’ll buy it now and it’ll probably continue going on into the holidays. Sony’s playing catch up right now and Wii still has the highest install base currently. I’ve already stated that next year has too many factors going into it to even begin to predict how things will go.
Nice Rexxx thanks for the heads up on these titles.
We got copies of Rabbids Go Home yesterday and I noticed that it said it was street dated for Nov. 1 for us. I’m guessing GS is getting the game 2 days earlier than everyone else.
About two years ago we got a Wii and about 4 months into having it, we started to notice static-y blips and snow effects in the Wii menu. I did my research online and found out that it was some odd issue with Wii-Connect24 that overheated the GPU and just caused system problems. I hadn’t heard of it at the time, but in looking around I was certainly not the only one.
Called up Nintendo at the time and they were all too familiar with it. Under warrenty, got my replacement, life moved on. We played through the whole host of game released in that first year and a bunch of VC titles, then got the PS3 for SF4. Since then, the Wii has really been off or dormant for most of 2009.
Now the wife has been playing mario rpg…and the flickering is coming back…
Nintendo has been pretty good to me over the years, but damn…if this one goes I’m leaving this ship for good.
Anyone else dealt with this? The systems are well ventilated and dust-free. I don’t know what else to do.
When I last used it, mine actually started to make grinding noises with its disc slot. You really should turn off WiiConnect24. That shit leaves your console on all the time, and I guess that puts wear on its parts (although I don’t know why it affected my disc drive). I also hate how the Wii auto-updates and then tells you it updated, after everything is already installed. I’d prefer to have some control over it.
I’ve never turned on Wii Connect 24 other than purchasing VC games. Other than that’s it’s always remained off. Strange thing is after I updated to the Wii System update that came out that allowed the SD card to be used to store VC games, Wii Connect 24 hasn’t even been able to be turned on for me for some reason. I hadn’t really cared that much to get it fixed.
Well, that’s kind of one of the wtf issues I’m having.
See, we learned our lesson after the first time. I power the Wii down to red light everytime. There’s just no reason it should be occuring again.
That’s actually the first time I’ve heard of it and when I lived in my other place during college I had my wii plugged up with wii connect on. I’ve never turned it off. The only time I’ve had an issue with my Wii is the couple of times it decided that it wasn’t going to read Smash but after that I’ve never had any other probs. Sad to hear you’re having problems though.
Doesn’t look like there’s much news there is a podcast up where they talk mostly about NSMB Wii so if you’d rather figure out some of these surprises on your own don’t read the next bit.
Podcast stuff:
NSMB Wii will have “!” blocks that you will have to switch on like in World as well as secret exits.
In multiplayer at any time you can hit the A button and go into a bubble and basically be a free loader on the level. Helps if you have kids playing with you.
If you get 99 lives and you beat a level then you’ll show up on the map hatless and continue to be that way until you lose a life.
One of them remarked that it’s difficult in having to get everything in a level before moving on (I.E. finding 3 coins, getting the other exit). Says it’s definitely harder than NSMB on the DS.
Wow…Bowser Jr is actually with the other Koopa Kids this time.
hmmmm…this game will actually remember which side of the fence you are on when you climb on it and jumb to a different fence. They have mazes where this will come into play.
Excitebots didn’t sell well. No surprise there. Why don’t you actually do some marketing for a game like this next time Nintendo instead of ‘OH!..by the way…’ and just toss it out there to the masses.
end cast.
So we’re a little under 2 weeks before NSMB Wii comes out. Given Nintendo’s past record I think it’s safe to say they’ll probably pop the game in the Wii at work and in other places some time soon before the game releases. I’ll give people the heads up if it happens.
I don’t mean to be redundant here, but Sin & Punishment 2 has been one of my most anticipated games since it was announced. Now that the game is out in Japan, some folks have imported, and I’ve gotta tell you… the degree of positivity in impressions is driving me insane! I want this game RIGHT NOW! Again, read through this thread if you really want to feel the excitement.
Folks in there are incredibly pleased with what Treasure has done. I don’t post there, but I have a thread at Ign just bringing over some quotes from there. It’s too bad they couldn’t get this out in the States by Christmas.
lol, are you saying I should threaten people’s firstborn if they diss Nintendo? I would, Sep really I would but…I’m allergic to prison.
Just in case I took your statement as amusing sarcasm when in fact it wasn’t I’ll also give a straightforward answer. I am a real fan, each generation Nintendo’s system is the one I pick up first and the one I have the most games for. I don’t have to act like a ten year old with an entitlement complex to support Nintendo. I buy their systems and I buy their games (and import when needed…damn you Taiko no Tatsujin). I just personally think that the wii hasn’t stalled just because every grandma in the world isn’t running people over to get one. I also think the current ecconomy may have something to do with it as well. The wii does have some good software, both third and first party. It is not without its problems but then again neither are Sony or Microsoft’s systems/game library.
didn’t know about that tranformation cancel thing also shows off a small bit of latent ninja powers with Gaara. No chip, block supers, and a jutsu counter on block…ultimate defense indeed.
GTTV this week is going to be nintendo centric. Reggie and Miyamoto are going to be on it and they’ll mostly be talking about games this year and next year. Never know…something nice may pop up on it
