I’m a proud owner. I play MP1 annually. Same with Super Metroid. Damn I want that game for 3DS.

I also updated the front page list…There are only 3 titles to keep an eye out on the Wii this year. Rhythm Heaven is actually going to release at 29.99. That’s a big steal. There’s also Pokepark 2 coming out Feb. 28th but the first one supposedly wasn’t that great but I’m just throwing that out there for Pokemon fans.
Possible announcements for E3 this year could be quite interesting especially if those rumors circling around about what Sony and Microsoft could be up too…

Just reserved my copy of Xenoblade. Definitely picking that bitch up. Started playing it after the UK release, but I feel like I kinda rushed myself. Want to start from scratch and really take my time enjoying everything. That game is massive. I’m curious if they’ll use new voice actors to make it sound less UK-ish. Would be a nice treat, even though the UK had some fantastic voice acting.

On April 20th, 2011, Rare Studios told Eurogamer that they are working on “a project everyone wants us to do” for Nintendo’s next console, which we now know is Wii U.
In the most recent Official Nintendo Magazine, Retro Studios stated “While some suggest this new project is likely to be a return to the Metroid franchise, we’d love to see another Nintendo hero get the retro stamp of excellence. After all, having rolled out the barrels for Donkey Kong, perhaps it’s time Retro pulled off a barrel roll of a different kind.” Could be a clue to the truth of a Retro Star Fox, or just some publicity bullshit.
Lastly, and least significantly, Miyamoto recently said “As you know, we have already collaborated with Retro for the Metroid Prime series in the past. And I think when we talk about any other franchise, Zelda might be a possible franchise for that collaboration.” I only want a Retro Zelda if we also get a fucking in-house, Nintendo created Metroid. But if not, I’d rather Retro work on other shit as Nintendo is doing a damn fine job with Zelda already. EDIT: Actually, nevermind. I would like to see Retro collaborate with Nintendo on Zelda, therefore freeing up Nintendo to work on something completely new, as long as the Mario Club is doing the debugging for Retro’s work, and we get the usual close Nintendo supervision that exists in all collaborations. I just want more Metroid anything at all times.

Pretty fucking fascinating. Especially considering a TMNT reboot is currently being worked on, aimed to be darker like the Dark Knight trilogy.
I’m currently playing Arkham Asylum in preparation for Arkham City on Wii U, and I can definitely say a TMNT game on this engine would be the shit.

I disagree Nintendo isn’t “losing any sleep” over it though. It’s a serious problem that threatens the gaming industry, and has significantly impacted the music and film industries. I’m not telling you what to do though. I’m a thief and a pirate too, that’s for damn sure.

No sir, not at all. Just rumor. I got a little overboard and had some extra fun with my speculating.
Sounds like a catch-22. Keeping Wii in the name might allow continuity from Wii’s success, but it could also come off as some kinda add-on (like Kinect). Make a brand new name and they might get some buzz going, but could lose recognition/familiarity everyone has with Wii now.
I think it’s a good idea to change the name, just for the fact it would get people talking about it more. I kinda want to see them go balls-out and name it something completely different, like they did with Wii. Everyone was talking about that shit. Then again, I’m not sure if that level of impact can be recreated.
Seems it would be best to get a crew together and consider the direction they want to take the system, and come up with some witty, memorable shit based on that. Then come up with something else that best uses the word Wii. Finally, compare the two.
Did I mention that Retro kind of hinted at what they were working on? Apparently from the ONM Retro was quoted with this…
If Retro can pull that off and pull that franchise from the current abyss that it’s in I’ll consider them to actually have the midas touch.
