The Last Story

Trailer:

I need this game.

EDIT: Oh man, Mirania…

Trailer makes me think of FFIX making babies with Xenoblade.

DOUBLE EDIT: Here’s a dope Iwata Asks with the music composers of Xenoblade: http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/wii/xenoblade/0/0

The Last Story’s Scenario Was Initially Bleaker Than The Final Game

  • Monolith Soft had to learn Nintendo’s way of developing games
  • that means starting by developing a fleshed-out prototype instead of a fully-established story
  • With Mistwalker, Nintendo initially didn’t approve of The Last Story’s scenario
  • the original world the game had was too bleak
  • changing to a more fantasy-style setting helped enhance the characters as well
  • “It’s actually easier to bring out realistic human dimensions in a fantasy setting.” - Sakaguchi
  • Lazulis City was based on the idea to create a location that players would be able to familiarize themselves with
  • the town is also made so that subtle differences and changes stand out
  • “Early on one of the passers-by will barge into you with their shoulder and say: ‘Hey! What are you doing?’ But then when the hero has become a little more established, they’ll say: ‘Oh, I’m terribly sorry!’ That’s a really nice feeling.” - Sakaguchi
  • the game was originally about the drama between a man and a woman
  • it changed to being a story about companionship
  • the story didn’t change, but the underlying themes did

Damn, bleaker is always better in my book.

Oh well…

Random question but here it goes.

My wii is modded (soft modded i guess you can say, no chips but it has homebrew channel) but i actually want my launch system wii to go ahead and go back to being legit.

If I get a newer game like Zelda : skyword sword, since I havent touched the wii in years the firmware is hella old and the newer games (especially nintendo branded ones) will try to force the newest firmware on it you know? Will it overwrite my homebrew stuff and my stuff will become legit? Or will it detect that homebrew stuff and brick my wii, making my lose all my save data and stuff. Anyone have any experience with this?

Unfortunately I’ve heard both ways. I don’t know the specifics of which way each person had their system modded. It’s really going to be a luck of the draw thing.

Forgot to mention that Rhythm Heaven got pushed back to being shipped out on Feb. 14th and is now no longer street dated.

If you are interested in having a say in which reversible cover you want for Xenoblade Chronicles then voice it on their NoA’s facebook.

Gaf also has them up as well

I think the wrestler mini game is easily my favorite out of the games I’ve seen so far for Rhythm Heaven

Rhythm Heaven also seems to be a meme in itself…some of this is amazing lmao

UK gets a special edition The Last Story:

They also got a limited edition Xenoblade with a damn red Classic Controller Pro. USA didn’t get that. I fucking hope we get this TLS LE.

Rumor: Epic Mickey 2 to Support WiiU

If true…please don’t just put WiiU support on the Wii version. That’s lazy as hell.

TMNT debunked.

Rocksteady isn’t making it. Nobody is.

Alright, more Retro rumor time.

Source:

"This information comes from a Ruliweb member that supposedly hunted down this info…

  • Retro looking to recruit many FX Artists
  • looking specifically for 3D environment artists
  • Retro wants these artists to have talant for hand painted textures
  • also looking for people to assist in translations for better communication with Nintendo

In the comments, someone posted the details to a job posting from Retro that was listed on jobs.gamasutra, which is now taken down (perhaps job filled?).

Pretty cool if true. 2D Metroid would be my top choice, then 3D, then whatever else.

They still don’t have enough people for whatever project or projects they’re working on? If whatever it is that they’re working on has even the slightest possibility of coming out this year then that supposedly crunch time is going to be fucking painful. Please don’t pull any rush jobs.

We got a disc of Rhythm Heaven Fever in this week and I got a chance to play with it for a good probably 20 minutes on the Wii demo Kiosk. Doing the first start up test of my rhythm was horrible but once I starting playing the games it was far better. Watching other people play the game has been a painful endeavor though. No where near as entertaining as watching Ghirahim completely owning people in the Skyward Sword demo.

I just remembered that The Grinder was supposed to come out this past Halloween…I guess this game is dead? I was really looking forward to online co-op.

Hyped for The Last Story, but I don’t think it’ll be better than Xenoblade.

I’m on board with anything Retro makes.

The Grinder was supposed to have been came out on all the consoles by now. HVS hasn’t said anything more on either versions of the game in a long ass time. I don’t think it’s dead personally. My reasoning being The last time anything was mentioned/shown on the games was in June 2010 if GT is to be believed. I’m assuming that HVS probably saw the WiiU during that month and went ‘hmmmmmm…’. The last time anything was shown on the Wii version of the game was in 2009. It wouldn’t surpise me at all if that game were to suddenly reappear this year in some updated fashion. If wiki is to believed then they have something in the words for 3DS and WiiU already planned. It would kinda suck if that game (Wii version anyway) just fell by the wayside…I was especially digging the idea of the Jason inspired enemy that fucking appears right on you if you turn your eyesight from it.

Pandora’s Tower is heading to Europe on April 13

Also Entertainment Weekly had an interview with Miyamoto where he mentioned he’s really enjoying making pikmin 3 for Wii U…aaand Toad is his least favorite character.

Rhythm Heaven Fever was just released recently. Gonna probably get it tonight.**

I picked up my copy today. I don’t know if I’ll get to it tonight cause I’m more in a Gears mode at the moment…If not tonight I’m definitely popping it in tomorrow since I’m off.

Pandora’s Tower officially announced for an April UK release.

Anyway… Mistwalker, Monolith Soft and Retro have got my attention by the balls. I’m just drudging along till E3 comes around.
