So according to IGN, Wii’s successor will in fact be announced at E3. It’s apparently backwards compatible with Wii (no surprise there), 3D with no glasses (like 3DS) and 1080p HD that’s “signficantly more powerful than the Playstation 3”.
I bought more Wii games this gen than anything, so with an HD Nintendo console with 3D on the horizon…why do I need the other two again?

These are reports from other people not necessarily IGN and they don’t really mention anything about 3D without glasses.
Well more so their sources than anything. I’m slightly sceptic but looking at what’s been going on I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a reveal this year. I guess I should start preparing that E3 thread for this year.

thinking over it again…I’m just now letting the fact that the reports are saying it’s stronger than a PS3. O.o? Nintendo has been trying not to be in the graphical race for awhile now and for them to do that would be like a complete 180 on what they’ve been doing. Not to mention they’ve been about affordability as well while staying profitable. The PS3 at it’s cheapest now is $299.99 putting it $50 away from the 3DS and this is supposed to be stronger than a PS3? Hmmmmmm…I da know…It’s going to be interesting to see how Nintendo is going to approach this.
Jesus, Nintendo’s new console sounds insane. 1080p, much more powerful than a PS3, HD screen in the controller AND they’re going after the hardcore market again?!
It needs to be 2012 already so I can have this. Apparently they’re going Blu-Ray in it too, which is expected.

Given the amount of people reporting on this stuff it’s probably legit. So far stuff that seems to be consistent is HD 1080, BC with Wii, and the system is on par with if not slightly more so than 360/PS3.
IGN sources are now telling them that the screen on the new controller has touch capability.

Chances are the leaks happened because Nintendo game 3rd party developers the dev kit early.
If the new Nintendo system info is indeed true, they’ll have 3d glasses. Shame on you people thinking nintendo won’t make useless accessories everyone thinks they need to make extra money.
And then release it in a bundle for cheaper 3 months later.
And then make a new version 2 months later
and then bundle it 3 months later.

Apparently Activision, Ubisoft and EA have had developement kits in their hands for months now. ‘For months’ could mean anything but I’m guessing whoever the people are that are leaking didn’t want to say anything until they were somewhat more sure of the capabilites of the system. This could have been an interesting surprise at E3…now I’m wondering if Microsoft and Sony are changing their plans this year to counter it. Also thinking about it…that rumor about the Wii dropping to $150 this year sounds more likely now…

WiiWare: My Little Baby, Bit.Trip Core (Demo) VC: Mega Man X
Conduit 2 came out Tuesday. We only got 2 copies at my store and nobody came to pick it up. Can’t say I blame them since it came out the same day MK, Portal 2, and Socom came out.
Not too many people have reviewed it yet though, but so far from what I’ve read in IGN’s and GT’s review the game does have some framerate issues here and there but it’s mostly a solid experience. Of course don’t expect to be blown out of the water.

one of the names they’re thinking about using is Stream. IGN tried to get a comment from Nintendo but of course got hit with the ‘no response to rumors and speculation’ bit. Speculation price so far is about $350 - $400 and it also reports that the chips can out perform PS3’s nvidia.

Also if Nintendo does show off the new system and is intent on actually working with 3rd parties and pander more to actual gamers I’d put some money down to reserve a console.
Monster Hunter Tri was good and I heard people still play it online.
Oh yeah, fuck Monster Hunter would be pretty great actually, see if I can still find the bundle with controller. I think Best Buy had it marked down to like $30 when I checked a few weeks ago. Thanks for the assistance.
Last time I was on Monster Hunter the community was still thriving. I might jump on for some hunting tomorrow after work if anyone is interested I’ll post up when I’m on.

Ended up getting the white Wii (Only one left, Sigh) for $164 and picked up Donkey Kong, Mario Bros. Wii, TMNT: Smash-Up, and Kirby’s Epic Yarn along with a motion plus controller + Nanchuk for like $199 so not bad.
Probably get REmake and Mario Kart next week. If I can spare the cash, Monster Hunter Bundle as well.
