Yeah Super Mario All-Stars will get one last run and it’s coming March 13th. I want it but I’m going to pass against my better judgement cause I’m actually going to need that money other stuff.
Now to try to type my responses again…
Nintendo is a hard to predict company where things that would generally seem to be a no brainer they may just not do just for the fact of not doing it. I’d say they’ve thrown plenty of curveballs to the point that expecting them to do something that everyone else wants them to do can lead to slight disappointment. I’m HOPING they release Last Story over here but I’m not going to hold my breath on it and Xenoblade has a lower chance of coming over despite them having announced it over here. Remember Disaster: Day of Crisis? That game was supposed to have been over here years ago but it got released everywhere else cept for North America for whatever reason.
No nobody saw DKCR coming and those surprises can be nice when it’s a Triple A title like that but Excitebots suffered hard from them doing that. It had to have been literally 3 weeks before that game was released that they finally told us it was coming and it was like ‘whuh!?’
Don’t let The Escapist get to you…they have a guy on the site that if you took seriously as a reviewer you damn well probably wouldn’t be playing anything.
Dead Space 2 is playing to its strengths. I haven’t played Dead Space myself besides extraction but I can tell it’s a good game and is actually doing Survival Horror better than Resident Evil is currently. Of course that’s opinion though. I won’t go into it anymore because I’m sure it won’t get anywhere.
To be completely honest on this issue…Nintendo trying to come up with something new is actually one of their strong points and has actually helped shape plenty of standards in the industry currently. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that though…right? Something that people may see as a gimmick can easily end up being a standard within the next few years and Nintendo has been behind a lot of those staples that many of us take for granted now. Instead of getting caught up in the arms race of putting out higher powered console every time they’re at least trying to breath new life into the market especially in a time period where making games is only going to get more and more expensive with each console iteration. At this point in the gaming industry more than ever it’s not going to be how many polygons make up a character but how the artists themselves utilize what is there. If that’s going to be the case then why not try to innovate in other areas to try to breath more life into the game industry? That’s just the way how I’m seeing it and people are going to either love them or hate them for it because it seems everytime Nintendo tries to ‘disrupt’ shit it ends up causing a ripple effect on the industry and even often effects the other consoles in the same generation for people who don’t even own Nintendo’s own system.
The only issue with this now is that becaues they’ve been trying so hard to innovate now it’s going to be a expected of them now to try to do something different something that isn’t even really expected out of the other 2 companies. Its going to be interesting to see where Nintendo goes and what they plan to do…will they try to do something new again or will they go for the easy route and just pump out a more powerful Wii with more buttons?
Motion controls being nigh useless I can’t agree with and again boils down what the developer plans to do with it and how. Most developers of the Wii’s better games have a better understanding now when to use them and not just force them in for the sake of having them…NBA Jam on the wii is a pretty good example of this. Using the motion controls in that game was actually a hell of a lot of fun for me personally when it came to shooting and swatting the ball. And to pull the game up yet again Red Steel 2 for me completely blew out any chance of me thinking that motion controls were just a gimmick. Again…it’s all going to depend on the developer.
The only genre that I can see motion controls being completely useless in is fighting games…that’s based upon what I’ve seen so far.
Also to be clear when I’m talking about ‘motion controls’ I’m talking about in the fashion that Nintendo and Sony has done and not Microsoft. If it’s one thing I can certainly agree with its how I’m not feeling how Microsoft has went with it as I see the applications for it are going to be limited and to try to put it in something that involves moving a character in 3D space doesn’t look natural.
As for the ‘fitness shit’, I’m not entirely certain why you’re getting upset at something that could actually better somebody’s health. If you’re not looking to do any exercises on your system then you’re clearly not the target for the game…just ignore it. If a large mass of people can only play ‘that 2k junk on the 3’ and ignore the existence of God of War, Gears of War, and Super Mario Galaxy then I’m certain you can not pay any attention to a genre that isn’t for you.
